Chapter 420: Chapter 209: Desolate Snow on the Mountain Top! Joy Comes to the Big City! (Request for Subscription)_4

After all, it’s really hard for people to believe something just because it’s told to them, rather than seeing it firsthand.

A remote mountain, with one of its peaks hollowed out and filled with various corpses? Who would believe such a story? Is this logical? Why do this? It’s utterly baffling.

Honestly, if it were just a murderer killing someone and dumping the body in the wilderness, having one victim is understandable, at least logically. But it’s not just one victim here; so many victims gathered together—it’s not as simple as just dumping bodies in the wild, is it?

Even when burying bodies, to avoid detection, the killer would hardly hide all the corpses in one place. If discovered, it would be a total bust.

Although perhaps not the best example, it’s like hiding money in a previous life; you hide one stash here, another there. Putting it all in one spot shows a reckless attitude.

”So the killer definitely had a purpose in doing this,” someone said.

”Either this mountain is special, and burying bodies here has some effect, or it’s simply convenient for the killer to do something later, easier to retrieve. Or maybe the killer is just mentally deranged.”

”Those are the only three possibilities.”

But burying so many bodies on the same mountain peak, what effect could that have?

From a normal person’s perspective, it’s incomprehensible.

Moreover, to make so many people disappear at great risk of being discovered, just to hide these skeletons—what’s the point?

Yuchi had just roughly examined these skeletons, and many of the clothes were intact, meaning these were living people thrown in. The killer wasn’t after money or beauty, so what was the motive?

”Yes, what on earth is the killer after?”

Not knowing the killer’s purpose makes psychological analysis impossible, making such cases hard to investigate.

Many criminal cases in previous lives were similar; if the murder was purposeful and premeditated, it was easier to investigate. It’s the motive-less, spur-of-the-moment ones that are challenging to solve.

Direct attacks are easier to defend against, but when a stranger suddenly stabs you from behind, who can withstand that? This kind of murder, devoid of personal grudge, is sheer torment.

”We need an expert on the scene to at least understand the purpose of these actions.”

”Is there something wrong with the mountain, the Burial Ground, or those chosen? Only someone knowledgeable can truly interpret this.”

”I can’t—I haven’t even been in this realm for a year. What do I know of such things?”

With this thought, Yuchi felt a sense of crisis regarding his four disciples.

Damn it, could there be such people around Canglan City?

It’s a good thing I didn’t have Shanlan go protect Song Yinghan. Otherwise, if I had gone, and Song Yinghan had left too, and Shanlan had also left Canglan City, there would only be some Qi Cultivation Realm disciples left. Damn it, if these killers buried my disciples just as I was leaving, wouldn’t that be foolish?

”No, we must find this person, we can’t let him continue to act secretly.”

”He won’t stop.”

”Once this spot is compromised, he can just find another, and next time... he’ll learn from his mistakes!”

The discovery of the Burial Ground was mainly due to two reasons.

First, the killer murdered too many people.

Second, the killer was too reckless.

Essentially, because the killer took too many lives and was too careless, not thoroughly investigating people’s possessions, they kidnapped the daughter of a former Sect Leader, which led to their discovery!

If he gets away this time, next time surely he’ll learn? Then, there won’t be such an opportunity, and while he might still be discovered later, the number of disappeared will only increase!

This situation becomes terrifying in an instant.

”If I were the murderer, I could ensure I’d never be caught again, ensuring many would die by my hand, and I could remain free,” a chill passed over Yuchi’s heart.

After some time, when the woman in Yuchi’s arms had calmed a little, he whispered in her ear: ”Let’s go to the Imperial Decree Department. No matter what it takes, we need to find out from this guy’s mind who’s behind this.”

Song Yinghan, in tears, pulled away from Yuchi’s embrace. Seeing the calm young man in front of her, she nodded heavily.

”Yes! Let’s go!”

”Hmm, but wash your face first; look at you crying like this, it hurts me too, you know.”

Yuchi wiped her fair cheek with his fingers, comforting her. Noticing her slight embarrassment, he joked, ”Otherwise, if you go out like this and people see, what will they think of you? And what will they think of me?”

”They’ll probably think you’re pitiful, and that I’m impressive. Otherwise, how could I make a Core Formation Stage cultivator cry? My reputation in Canglan City would become legendary.”
