Chapter 226: Chapter 226: Killing An Essence Blood

He landed softly on the balls of his feet, perfectly balanced.

The Jaguar hit the ground where Sol had just been, its immense momentum carrying it forward and its enhanced claws burying deep into the dirt. But before the beast could rip its paws free and turn its heavy, armored body to face him, Sol was already moving.

He didn’t use any fancy martial arts techniques… not like he knew any yet. He just used the sheer, overwhelming, crushing weight of his mutated Golden Liquid core. He drew a fraction of that heavy, viscous ocean up into his arms, channeling it directly into the shaft of his spear.

The Void-Oak weapon suddenly weighed as much as a boulder, but to Sol, it felt perfectly balanced.

He closed the distance in a single, explosive stride and swung the spear like a baseball bat, aiming directly for the Jaguar’s heavily armored ribs.

CRACK!

The sound was like a thunderclap echoing through the clearing. The obsidian spearhead slammed into the beast’s metallic scales. The armor held for a fraction of a second before the sheer, absurd kinetic mass of Sol’s strike caved it in entirely.

The Layer 1 Omen-Blood shrieked… a horrifying, metallic sound of genuine pain. The impact lifted the massive, tank-sized feline completely off its paws and sent it crashing sideways into one of the giant, purple-barked trees.

The tree shuddered, dropping a rain of glowing amber sap. The Jaguar scrambled frantically in the dirt, trying to right itself, its breath coming in ragged, hissing gasps. A deep broken indentation marred its previously flawless, obsidian side.

My base stats are completely broken, Sol thought, staring at his hands in genuine awe. I don’t even have a phantom bound to my core yet, and I just batted a Layer 1 Essnce-Blood into a tree like it was a minor inconvenience.

The Jaguar, realizing it was horribly outmatched in raw physical power, abandoned its pride. It hissed, its golden eyes burning with primal panic. It channeled all its remaining essence into its legs and its spiked tail, significantly lightening its own body weight while hardening its armor for a retreat.

It turned its armored tail and bolted for the thick cover of the dark fog.

“Oh no, you don’t. You’re my loot drop,” Sol muttered.

He dropped his stance, the Golden Liquid flaring violently in his chest, and launched himself after the fleeing beast. The Jaguar was fast, but Sol was a transmigrator with a cheat. He crossed the clearing in three massive bounds, intercepting the beast just as it reached the tree line.

Sol didn’t use the spear. He dropped it, diving forward and grabbing the thick, scaled scruff of the Jaguar’s neck with his bare hands.

The beast roared, thrashing wildly, its spiked tail whipping around in a desperate bid to crush his skull. But Sol was already inside its guard. He channeled his dense essence into his right fist and drove a brutal uppercut directly under the beast’s jaw, bypassing the heavy armor plates entirely.

Crunch.

The blow snapped the Jaguar’s neck with the sickening sound of breaking timber. The massive beast’s golden eyes rolled back, its body going completely limp, sliding heavily into the damp moss.

Sol stood over the corpse, panting slightly, rolling his shoulders to bleed off the adrenaline.

“Layer 1 or not, that was a solid workout,” he muttered, wiping a streak of dirt from his cheek.

He didn’t waste time celebrating. The instructions echoed clearly in his mind. The moment the beast dies, place the jade directly onto its corpse.

Sol quickly reached into the inner pocket of his leather tunic and pulled out one of the pristine, freezing-cold Blood-Jades Veylara had personally refined. It felt perfectly smooth, completely devoid of the vile, rotting shadow that had tainted the Ancestral Jades.

He knelt beside the massive, armored corpse of the Obsidian-Scale Jaguar and pressed the crimson stone firmly against the beast’s chest, right over where its blazing core resided.

For a second, nothing happened.

Then, the ancient runes carved into the surface of the Blood-Jade flared to life with a brilliant, pulsing red light. Sol could feel a sudden, intense suction radiating from the stone.

The corpse of the Jaguar shuddered. A thick, vibrant stream of spiritual energy began to bleed out of the beast’s physical body, drawn inexorably into the gem. Sol watched in fascination as the spectral form of the Jaguar… its roar silenced, its pride broken by death…. was forcefully funneled into the mineral prison.

Oh did he mentioned, the higher tier Soul stones can also accomodate lower tier beast souls too. But as for why people usually don’t do that? It’s simply because Higher tier soul stones are extremly rare, why waste them for storing lower tier souls? But the tribe was generous as they gave him two blood jades.

Anyways, the process took less than ten seconds. The physical corpse of the beast seemed to wither slightly, losing its metallic luster as its spiritual essence was entirely drained.

Sol lifted the Blood-Jade. It was no longer freezing cold, it was now warm to the touch, and deep within its crimson depths, he could see the faint, swirling phantom of the Obsidian-Scale Jaguar, trapped and waiting to be anchored.

“Perfect,” Sol smiled, tossing the warm stone lightly in his hand before securing it safely back in his pouch.

He had successfully secured an Omen-Blood, while still being an unrakned. It was an incredible prize that would make any warrior in the Veynar tribe a highly respected elite. But for Sol, it was just a backup plan. A safety net.

He picked up his Void-Oak spear, wiping the dust from the obsidian blade. He looked deeper into the North by Northeast path, where the fog grew thicker and the trees grew impossibly larger.

“Alright,” Sol whispered to the silent jungle, his crimson eyes burning with absolute resolve. “Backup secured. Now… let’s go find a real boss.”

He stepped over the empty husk of the Jaguar and vanished into the churning, dark mist of the Great Orrath.
