I Only Summon Amazon Giantesses

The entire room had transformed into something out of a frozen fairy tale, decorated in soft, shimmering shades of light blue, thick sheets of ice coating nearly every visible surface. Artistic stalactites and stalagmites had grown throughout the space in delicate, glittering formations, turning what had once been an ordinary administrative office into a genuine frozen palace.

The cold cut deep, biting sharply into any exposed skin unlucky enough to be caught in it, though it left the trap’s owner entirely unaffected. Her skin remained flawlessly pale throughout, carrying an unnatural, almost porcelain quality no ordinary living being could ever naturally possess.

This was simply one facet of Quinn’s abilities, granting her command over immense glacial and icy techniques, wielded here with genuinely staggering intensity. It tied closely to her own summon as well, a creature specialized in compressing air, projecting ice, weaving frost magic, and channeling several related abilities beyond that.

With every measured step she took closer, Arnold felt his heart stutter hard in his chest, eyes trembling faintly beneath the weight of her presence, equal parts genuinely charming and outright terrifying. His previously composed, confident expression had already crumbled into something closer to shock and uncertain hesitation.

Traditionally, across most cultures built around hierarchies of power, influence, and leadership, the king typically claimed the central spotlight, seated high above everyone else at the throne and head table. Kings weren’t simply feared. They were praised, practically worshipped, treated almost like living gods, surrounded constantly by attendants and admirers while crowds shouted their praises.

In most such systems, the king’s position typically outranked every other title beneath him, queen, knight, prince, princess, through sheer accumulated power, influence, and fame alone. Few ever dared directly challenge that position, let alone attempt seizing it outright.

Still, other traditions told an entirely different story when it came to a queen’s real influence and authority.

In certain cultures, the queen held absolute, unquestioned power over the palace itself, its inheritance, its authority structure entirely. The Amazonian tradition served as a fitting example here, notably one that never allowed for a king within its own structure to begin with.

Queens, depending on the specific culture, could stand as genuine equals to kings, or in some cases, considerably above them. They embodied power, justice, and control in their own right, occasionally producing a queen so aristocratic and severe that even the king himself learned to tread carefully around her.

The exact same dynamic clearly applied here at Amstral High, playing out in real time right now. While the School King technically carried considerable influence and visible dominance, that only ever represented the surface layer, the tip of a far deeper well of power quietly held by the discreet, largely dormant queen, one who only stepped forward when a situation genuinely warranted her direct attention.

This particular situation had clearly earned exactly that kind of attention, which explained her sudden, immediate intervention.

Arnold’s golden eyes stayed locked firmly on Quinn’s piercing blue gaze as she finally closed the remaining distance, leaning in until only a few scant inches separated their faces. Cold, icy mist billowed steadily off her skin, drifting over him like some inverted, freezing version of radiant heat.

A brief, tense silence stretched between them before Quinn finally broke it, her tone low and almost deceptively casual, sharply at odds with the raw fury clearly simmering just beneath the surface.

”What exactly does it take for you to finally learn your place? Genuinely, tell me.”

Arnold said nothing for a long moment, prompting her to exhale sharply and finally pull back, putting distance between them. She snapped her delicate fingers, and instantly, every trace of ice and frost coating the room and its frozen occupants melted away completely, vanishing as though none of it had ever existed at all.

Simply another effortless display of her considerable magical mastery.

A hard, sharp smile crossed her lips.

”So, what did everyone think of my newest little technique? Pretty impressive, right?”

Thalia sucked in a deep, ragged breath, stretching her limbs after being robbed entirely of breath, movement, and conscious thought for well over thirty seconds straight. Goro immediately began patting down his own body, as though double checking none of his limbs had gone missing somewhere along the way.

The two exchanged a startled glance before turning together toward the one responsible for all of it. Their expressions carried genuine disbelief, though even that paled entirely next to whatever burned behind the Ice Queen’s own eyes.

Kai blinked rapidly, struggling to properly process what had just happened. One moment he’d been standing normally in the room, and the next, he’d found himself completely frozen solid, caught entirely off guard by the queen’s sudden, violent arrival.

He could still feel the lingering chill of the frost that had trapped him only moments earlier, clinging faintly to his skin.

His eyes sharpened, settling directly on Quinn, who stood there with the unmistakable, defiant bearing of someone who genuinely held true authority over the student council.

I genuinely can’t believe I, an actual dragon, just got caught flat footed by simple ice, something a dragon’s own flame breath should counter without effort. I could turn her into a petrified statue of rock and stone in seconds flat, then watch that smug, arrogant expression crumble apart completely.

Quinn’s cold, sweeping gaze moved across the room before she finally spoke again.

”How many more times do I need to repeat myself to all of you about who the next potential queen actually is? We’re not even through the second or third semester yet, and you’re already pushing this ridiculously far!”

Her voice carried no real softness anywhere within it. It landed just as cold and unforgiving as the frost that had blanketed the entire room moments earlier.

”It remains my authority, my decision, my influence alone that determines who takes over as the next queen. None of you should even consider interfering with that.”

Arnold’s expression stayed carefully guarded as Quinn pressed forward.

”I’m making this perfectly clear, right now, exactly who I actually want succeeding me eventually. That girl is Mia Brookson. She’s stronger, tougher, and genuinely capable enough to properly fill this role, not that Phoenix girl you’ve all apparently gotten so fixated on.”

Her eyes narrowed sharply.

”And if I catch even a hint of this happening again, you’ll get a real, firsthand look at exactly how harsh I can actually be. This isn’t some empty threat. This is a...”

Quinn paused mid sentence, catching the heavy, unmistakable glare radiating off Kai, the Dragon. His expression and posture clearly didn’t sit well with anything she’d just said.

A thin, dangerous smile crept across Quinn’s face.

She advanced toward the sophomore with slow, deliberately condescending steps, and Kai mirrored the motion exactly, closing the distance until barely a few inches remained separating them.

Neither one so much as blinked, let alone looked away.

”Screw your demand, and everything that comes with it! You don’t get to decide who ends up standing beside me as the next king, not while I’m still here, especially not when you’re heading straight into senior year and graduating soon enough anyway. Feel free to leave whatever mark you want, somewhere else, once this domain officially becomes mine,” Kai shot back, eyes sharp, voice edged with open defiance.

His expression hardened further still.

”And honestly, it’s not like I even actually want to stay tied to that Phoenix girl either. Neither option you’ve offered up sits right with me. So how about this instead? I change the policy entirely, one single queen only, no more polygamous nonsense attached to the king’s seat. That arrangement would suit me perfectly fine. And that decision belongs to me. My authority. Not yours.”

Kai spoke with complete, unwavering certainty, fully convinced the weight of true kingship would eventually land squarely in his own hands regardless of anyone else’s objections.

Quinn’s thin smile only stretched wider, frosty mist curling gently off her frame once more, though it burned away almost instantly against the searing heat radiating steadily off Kai’s own aura in response.

”I do love that unwavering confidence of yours. Truly. Though I think you’re about to find yourself worrying over eliminating just the one queen candidate after all, seeing as the other already turned down the King’s oh so special invitation.”

She straightened her posture before reaching into her pocket, producing the same paper form Kai had originally handed off to Hermione.

The document looked rough, visibly worn, as though it had been crumpled tightly into a ball at some point before being carefully smoothed back out again.

”Mia actually watched her toss this straight into a trash bin. Missed the shot, though. So Mia went ahead and fished it back out herself, thoroughly disappointed once she pieced together the King’s actual intentions here. Handed it straight to me afterward, practically seething with betrayal written all over her face.”

Quinn held the crumpled invitation pinched delicately between two fingers.

”But I made absolutely sure to assure her that none of this ever carried my personal blessing or intention behind it. This entire mess traces back to nothing but the King’s own selfishness, and whoever’s been quietly backing him up along the way.”
