Chapter 2223: Chapter 2223: Cave Closure

In Faro Heaven, one can also find some Thunder Attribute Techniques, but their power inevitably leaves much to be desired.

The Thunder Attack Technique unleashed by Jing Yan had even forced Black River Heavenly Monarch to retreat; that alone was enough to draw attention.

Across the Nine Days of Immortal Domain, the place with the greatest number of Thunder Attribute Techniques was, naturally, the Thunder Domain, which had once shaken the nine days with its might.

“Eighty percent chance it hails from the Thunder Domain.”

“That man doesn’t look very old. What is his background?”

“He is also at the Immortal Charm Realm, yet he could repel Black River Heavenly Monarch. He is definitely no ordinary Immortal Rhythm Cultivator!”

The several Elders all stared, eyes wide.

“That man is called Jing Yan. The Thunder Attack Technique he used, if I’m not mistaken, should be an Immortal Technique from the Thunder Origin.” Elder Kuo Lian spoke out.

“Thunder Origin?”

“No… impossible!”

“Even before the Thunder Domain fell into decline, those in the Thunder Domain who had mastered the Thunder Origin were extremely few. Thunder Origin is a means belonging to Thunder Emperor himself!”

“No, that may truly be an Immortal Technique. Otherwise, even a Thunder Attribute Techniques of Immortal Venerable Level from the Thunder Domain might not possess such great power. I know very well the power of Black River Heavenly Monarch’s Death Lotus; you all know I once personally experienced the might of the Death Lotus. And yet the Death Lotus was shattered in a short span of time, so that indeed may be an Immortal Technique within the Thunder Origin.”

The Elders of Mystic Moon Trading House were anything but ordinary; their breadth of knowledge might even surpass that of Yuantong Immortal Venerable.

“This person can actually grasp an Immortal Technique. Just what kind of identity and background does he have?” an Elder exclaimed in a low voice.

By now, the Elders understood why Elder Kuo Lian had summoned them. In Faro Heaven, a Cultivator capable of displaying a Thunder Origin Immortal Skill had appeared; this was no trivial matter.

“For the moment, we still do not know his true identity, but he must surely be connected to the Thunder Domain.” Kuo Lian said.

“The Thunder Domain… has been in decline for many years. Nowadays, Cultivators from the Thunder Domain are rarely seen throughout the Nine Days of Immortal Domain.” an Elder said.

“No matter how far the Thunder Domain has fallen, we must treat this matter with utmost caution. Our Mystic Moon Trading House absolutely must not provoke anyone of the Thunder Domain. That Immortal Emperor is notoriously hot-tempered! Although that Immortal Emperor has not appeared for a very, very long time, no one can prove that he has already fallen.” Kuo Lian said in a deep voice.

“Elder Kuo Lian speaks true.”

“It’s just that… Ao Hong seems to have offended this Cultivator called Jing Yan.”

“I think we need to find a way to mend this matter.”

“Indeed, we must repair the relationship. Moreover, this Cultivator named Jing Yan was able to repel Black River Heavenly Monarch; for our Mystic Moon Trading House to move against him would likely come at a steep price.”

The opinions of these Elders were highly unified; none advocated taking a hard line against Jing Yan. Although Jing Yan had killed Lu Chun, compared to the frightening possibility that Jing Yan might hail from the Thunder Domain, this minor incident was not worth mentioning.

“Very well, I will personally step forward to meet this Fellow Daoist Jing Yan. Since none of you have any other objections, then the matter is decided thus.” Kuo Lian said.

…

Yellow Spring Cave.

Ever since Black River Heavenly Monarch was driven off and Lu Chun was slain, Jing Yan, like Xin Ruikun and the others, continued to search for Netherworld Crystal Stones.

Time flowed on, year after year.

Perhaps his good fortune had been exhausted; during the period that followed, Jing Yan found only some scattered Netherworld Crystal Stones and did not discover any Netherworld Crystal Stone Vein. And most of these scattered Netherworld Crystal Stones were Low-grade Netherworld Crystal Stones.

Xin Ruikun and the others also reaped little. Those with better luck found a few High-level Netherworld Crystal Stones; those less fortunate failed to find even a single Netherworld Crystal Stone.

Thus, after another seventy-some years had passed, an ancient, desolate power shrouded Yellow Spring Cave. Jing Yan and the others were involuntarily transmitted out. The Netherworld Gate vanished; this opening of Yellow Spring Cave had come to an end, and the cave was closed.

Before Yellow Spring Cave closed, those outside had already sensed the surge of desolate power flowing out from within the Netherworld Gate. Yuantong Immortal Venerable and the others also knew Yellow Spring Cave was about to close; they all walked out of their palaces and residences, gazing at the two Netherworld Gates, large and small.

Silhouettes were transmitted out from within the Netherworld Gate one after another.

From the larger Netherworld Gate, a total of eight figures were transmitted out. The smaller Netherworld Gate sent out more Cultivators; they were almost all subordinates of Wuxia Heavenly Monarch and the other Shen Zhou Heavenly Monarchs. Under Wuxia Heavenly Monarch’s command, three Cultivators at the Peak of All Things Realm had entered the Low-level Netherworld Cave.

“Black River Heavenly Monarch, where do you think you’re going!” Yuantong Immortal Venerable’s gaze instantly locked onto a dark silhouette. With a thunderous shout, he soared after that black figure.

The dark figure saw Yuantong Immortal Venerable rushing toward him and let out a cold laugh, his body dissolving into a mass of black mist that fled into the distance.

“Yuantong Immortal Venerable, you know you cannot keep me, so why bother with this superfluous show?” Black River Heavenly Monarch’s voice came drifting back.

“Boom, boom, boom!” Yuantong Immortal Venerable’s Divine Power surged as he madly attacked that expanse of black mist.

But the result was far from ideal; Yuantong Immortal Venerable truly could not keep Black River Heavenly Monarch.

“Jing Yan, you little bastard, things between us are far from over. You… just you wait for this old man!” Before Black River Heavenly Monarch vanished, his hollow voice rang out once more.

Hearing Black River Heavenly Monarch’s threat, Jing Yan let out a cold laugh and shouted back, “Black River, you had best pray you don’t run into me again. The next time we meet, it may not be so easy for you to escape.”

These were not empty words.

Once he had mastered the Great Demon Seal Suppression Technique to the Fifth Level, his ability to pin down Black River Heavenly Monarch would rise significantly. If he could deploy the second move of single-target attack within Thunder Origin, Thunder Nine Strikes, the chance of killing Black River Heavenly Monarch would be even greater. Or, should he achieve a substantial breakthrough in Divine Soul Attack, he would pose an even more grievous threat to Black River Heavenly Monarch.

Of course, at present, Jing Yan truly could not kill Black River Heavenly Monarch. Even joining forces with Yuantong Immortal Venerable would not make much difference. With such a special body, Black River Heavenly Monarch did not particularly fear being besieged by two or three Immortal Venerables. Only when the number of Immortal Venerables reached a certain scale could they hope to encircle and slay Black River Heavenly Monarch.

Yuantong Immortal Venerable pursued for a brief while before returning helplessly. In truth, Yuantong Immortal Venerable also knew he could not succeed; his pursuit of Black River Heavenly Monarch was mainly for show, to let others see his stance. After all, this time Black River Heavenly Monarch had forcibly snatched a quota for a High-level Netherworld Cave right out of his hands; that was a direct provocation.

“Fellow Daoist Jing Yan!”

“Haha, congratulations, Fellow Daoist Jing Yan.”

“Fellow Daoist Jing Yan displayed overwhelming Divine Power within Yellow Spring Cave; we all witnessed the scene of you defeating Black River Heavenly Monarch.”

Xin Family Patriarch Xin Si, War God Lifen of Ancient Land of Morning Light, and the others all came up to Jing Yan, laughing as they offered their congratulations. Gong Zhi Buddha of Shadow Tower also wore a broad smile, his tone exceedingly cordial. Among the leaders of the Four Great Forces, only Inspector Ao Hong of Mystic Moon Trading House still wore a gloomy expression.
