The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 1687: Chapter 1687: Test Results

We’ll know if he’s a wizard or not by testing.

”Sir, since Jing Yan is a wizard-level powerhouse, we need you to personally oversee the test,” the wizard said to Shadow Battle.

”Mm.” Shadow Battle nodded.

”Uncle Ying Zhan, Jing Yan really is a Wizard Realm cultivator, do we still need to test?” Ying Lu pouted.

”A wizard must accept the call, and it is essential to undergo a necessary test. Among wizards, there is also a significant difference in power. The more powerful the wizard, the higher the rewards offered by the tribe,” Ying Zhan explained.

”Brother Jing Yan, you don’t mind taking the test, do you?” Shadow Battle asked Jing Yan.

”I don’t mind, anytime is fine,” Jing Yan nodded.

”Alright then, Brother Jing Yan, please trouble yourself to get on the platform,” Shadow Battle said courteously.

The platform referred to is the one in the center of the room.

Jing Yan did not hesitate and went up directly.

”Ying Lin, go have a sparring session with our friend Jing Yan. Stop at the point of contact!” Ying Zhan said to the wizard.

This wizard’s name was Ying Lin, a relatively ordinary wizard with combat power equivalent to the third rank of a human Heavenly Venerate.

”Yes!” Ying Lin responded quickly and stepped onto the platform.

A layer of array light curtain soon rose around the platform. Within the curtain, faint traces of divine patterns could be seen.

”Mr. Jing Yan, it’s just a simple spar between us, stop when enough has been done, please make your move,” Ying Lin said politely.

”Shall I make the first move?” Jing Yan pointed at himself with a smile.

”Yes, please, Mr. Jing Yan, attack me,” Ying Lin nodded.

”Daoist Ying Lin, be careful then!” Jing Yan’s eyes narrowed slightly, and the divine power surged quickly from within him.

One by one, the laws converged in front of Jing Yan.

Jing Yan raised his hand and lightly slapped towards Ying Lin opposite him.

After Jing Yan made his move, Ying Lin immediately felt a terrifying power fluctuation being released from Jing Yan. His face turned tense as he poured all his strength into mobilizing divine power to prepare for Jing Yan’s upcoming attack.

However, in the next moment, he realized that his defense was futile. In the face of Jing Yan’s attack, his defense was comparable to nothing more than paper. His body, unable to control itself, began to retreat as the powerful force proved entirely beyond his capability to resist.

Reaching the edge of the platform, he still couldn’t stabilize his body, already feeling the array barrier at his back. Ying Lin thought to himself, thankful for the array barrier or he might have been knocked out of the platform with just one move.

But before he could even catch his breath, he felt his body retreating further. The energy fluctuations around him had shaken subtly, and Ying Lin found himself outside the platform, narrowly avoiding a fall.

”This...” Ying Lin was shocked, staring at Jing Yan on the platform.

The arena array hadn’t even stopped his body’s regression.

Shadow Battle’s eyes also showed a look of shock. Standing outside the platform, he saw everything clearly. The arena array’s barrier appeared to have split open after contacting Ying Lin’s body, letting him pass through it.

Shadow Battle knew well that the arena array couldn’t fault without reason. The barrier splitting at that moment was definitely related to Jing Yan. In other words, Jing Yan’s power was already strong enough to easily tear through the arena array.

Moreover, although Ying Lin’s strength was average, he was still at the wizard level. Yet in front of Jing Yan, he didn’t have any power to resist at all. It was clear that if Jing Yan wanted to kill Ying Lin, it would be a matter of a mere gesture.

Ying Lu’s beautiful eyes sparkled brightly. She had known all along that Jing Yan’s strength was extraordinary. Even the Supreme Elder Wu Yan of the Wu Clan had failed to stop Jing Yan. Jing Yan was surely an exceptionally powerful wizard, just like Uncle Ying Zhan, one of the strongest wizard-level powerhouses.

Several other people in the room who witnessed Ying Lin’s defeat were all stunned.

Shadow Battle waved a hand to remove the arena array, his face returning to a smile.

This was undoubtedly a wizard-level cultivator with incredible strength.

The Shadow Clan Tribe would now have an esteemed Guest Elder.

”Brother Jing Yan, that’s enough. Your test is now complete,” Shadow Battle said with a smile to Jing Yan.

Jing Yan stepped down from the platform.

”Brother Jing Yan, let’s talk about your compensation,” Shadow Battle directly brought up the matter of Jing Yan’s remuneration without any preamble.

Having witnessed Jing Yan’s display of strength firsthand, Shadow Battle was convinced that even if Jing Yan’s power didn’t match his own, the difference wouldn’t be significant. Ordinary wizard-level cultivators clearly couldn’t match Jing Yan.

Recruiting such a strong individual was undoubtedly a great success for the Shadow Clan Tribe.

”That can be negotiated,” Jing Yan replied.

Jing Yan wasn’t very concerned about the remuneration. His primary reason for coming with Ying Lu to the Shadow Clan Tribe was to understand the Witch Realm and explore the Extreme Land through the Shadow Clan Tribe. The remuneration provided by the Shadow Clan Tribe was just an incidental gain.

But in the end, Jing Yan was pleasantly surprised. The compensation offered by the Shadow Clan Tribe was indeed appealing. Moreover, during special tasks, additional rewards would be provided, which left Jing Yan quite satisfied.

Next came the arrangement of accommodation for Jing Yan.

Jing Yan’s status was that of a Guest Elder with the Shadow Clan Tribe.

Only wizard-level powerhouses who joined the Shadow Clan Tribe could be granted the status of a Guest Elder. Cultivators below the wizard level could only serve as guards, with the stronger ones acting as head guards.

Jing Yan was placed in accommodation together with the four other recently joined Guest Elders of the Shadow Clan Tribe. These four Guest Elders were all wizard-level cultivators, three men and one woman.

When Jing Yan arrived, the four Guest Elders came to see him.

”So young!”

”So young yet has the status of a Guest Elder? Tsk, tsk, never would have guessed, never would have guessed.”

”Hey there, Daoist, what’s your name?”

The Guest Elders were enthusiastic upon meeting Jing Yan, with some directly asking for his name.

”My name is Jing Yan! Greetings, fellow Daoists!” Jing Yan cupped his hands and said with a smile.

The four Guest Elders also introduced themselves one by one. They sat in the room and chatted for a while. Someone asked where Jing Yan came from, to which he replied that he came from an unnamed island overseas, and no one doubted him.

Through the casual conversation with the Guest Elders, Jing Yan gained more information about the Witch Realm. Furthermore, he obtained information regarding the Extreme Land. This Extreme Land is located in a continent known as the Shamanic Clouds Domain. The Witch Realm consists of Five Regions, with the Shamanic Clouds Domain being the strongest. The Floating Domain is considered to be at the bottom. In the Floating Domain, the Wu Clan is one of the strongest forces.

...

”Elder Ying Zhan, you said Jing Yan’s strength is almost comparable to yours?” At the residence of the Shadow Clan Tribe’s Clan Leader, the Clan Leader’s eyes shone with a glint, gazing at Ying Zhan.

Ying Zhan had just come to report the matter regarding the Guest Elder Jing Yan.
