The Sword God of the Universe

Chapter 939: Chapter 939: Follow Your Heart

Enslaving the world?

Jing Yan increasingly felt that Mr. Zhong was exceedingly evil! At the same time, he grew increasingly anxious.

With Mr. Zhong’s power, who would dare resist if he wanted to enslave this world? Who could resist?

By then, the entire world would be crawling at Mr. Zhong’s feet.

”Mr. Zhong, although I don’t know your true identity, you must be a figure revered by countless gods in the God Realm. You’ve already gained the Ancestor of Principles you desired by coming to this world. Why not leave now? Besides, in your eyes, a low-level world should be insignificant, right?” Jing Yan tried to persuade him.

”Little one, your knowledge is too limited. Although you’ve inherited from that old man in the Death Temple, the inheritance likely doesn’t contain detailed information about the God Realm and the numerous low-level worlds.” Mr. Zhong was in no hurry to kill Jing Yan.

He indeed saw potential in Jing Yan.

He said that if Jing Yan submitted to him, he could become a Main God in the future, and this wasn’t without basis.

Mr. Zhong genuinely wanted to recruit such a promising talent. Thus, he was continually infiltrating Jing Yan’s divine soul. During their conversation, he subtly influenced Jing Yan’s divine soul, affecting his core self, making Jing Yan drop his final resistance and give up his last defense.

And indeed, he saw the effects—he noticed Jing Yan struggling internally.

”In the universe, the God Realm is unique. However, countless low-level worlds, like stars, are innumerable. Among these low-level worlds, some are quite special. These special low-level worlds can birth an Ancestor of Principles.” Mr. Zhong continued to explain.

”Not every world can produce an Ancestor of Principles?” Jing Yan raised his eyebrows.

”Of course not. If every world could produce a Law Ancestor, why would I go to such great lengths? My avatars roam many low-level worlds, searching for traces of the Ancestor of Principles. Twenty thousand years ago, I came to this world and discovered the aura of the Ancestor of Principles, albeit just an embryonic aura, yet I was willing to wait.”

”Thus, I waited for twenty thousand years.” Mr. Zhong clasped his hands behind his back. ”However, this isn’t much. My avatars are numerous. One remained in this low-level world to wait, while the others continued to search other low-level worlds.”

”Based on what you’re saying, low-level worlds that can produce an Ancestor of Principles are different?” Jing Yan asked curiously.

”Of course, they are different!”

”Only a perfect, flawless world can birth an Ancestor of Principles. Little one, do you know why that old man left a Death Temple in this world? Only a perfect world can nurture a perfect divine soul. Only one with a perfect divine soul can become...” Mr. Zhong looked at Jing Yan and then said, ”You don’t need to know these things right now.”

”Do you know the owner of the Death Temple?” Jing Yan paused and continued to ask.

”Humph, naturally, I know...” Mr. Zhong’s black eyes flickered.

Jing Yan could sense that Mr. Zhong seemed quite wary of the Death Temple’s owner. Although he pretended not to care, he was always reluctant to mention the name of the Death Temple’s owner. When he did, he referred to him as ’that old man.’

Furthermore, Jing Yan had a feeling that the owner of the Death Temple, like Mr. Zhong, followed the path of the Death Law. Why else would the Death Temple be called that?

The array formation energy covering the Death Temple also contained the aura of death and destruction.

”That damned old man, one day, I will trample him under my feet!” A fierce light flickered in Mr. Zhong’s eyes.

”The owner of the Death Temple must be stronger than you, Mr. Zhong, right? I have inherited from the Death Temple. If you kill me, aren’t you afraid of the Death Temple owner’s revenge?” Jing Yan asked.

He was probing again with these words.

”Haha, are you trying to threaten me, boy? Don’t waste your effort. While the number of low-level worlds that can birth a Law Ancestor is small, there are still plenty in this boundless universe. That old man has left Death Temples in many such low-level worlds. You have no idea how many inheritors he has. Why would he care about just one among the thousands?”

”Moreover, even if he knows about you, so what? If I kill you, what can he do about it?” Mr. Zhong’s voice grew more piercing.

”Alright, stop wasting time. Now, tell me your choice. Are you willing to submit to me or not?” Mr. Zhong’s patience was clearly wearing thin.

If Jing Yan was willing to submit, he would open his divine soul to allow Mr. Zhong to leave a spiritual imprint.

If Jing Yan was unwilling, he would be killed. Letting Jing Yan leave was never an option. From start to finish, Mr. Zhong had never considered such a thing.

The mere fact that Jing Yan was an inheritor of the Death Temple owner was reason enough for Mr. Zhong to kill him a hundred times over.

At the moment, Jing Yan’s face remained calm, but internally, two thoughts were in fierce conflict.

In the end, one side finally prevailed, erasing the other thought.

Mr. Zhong was clearly evil. While perhaps the path of cultivation would be smooth if he became Mr. Zhong’s servant, Jing Yan’s true self would never allow him to become an accomplice to such evil.

”I refuse!” Jing Yan uttered these words.

It was not difficult to say them; in fact, it was quite easy.

The true self!

To follow one’s true self, even if it meant death, one must not yield or betray one’s essence.

”Haha!”

”Fine, very well! Since you’ve chosen the path of death, then die.” Mr. Zhong seemed extremely angry at Jing Yan’s refusal. Instead of killing Jing Yan as he had done with Chen Long and others, he unleashed an endless aura of death. ”Die in endless pain!”

Mr. Zhong did not want Jing Yan to die easily; he wanted to torture Jing Yan, to torture his divine soul and mind.

The inescapable aura of death enveloped Jing Yan, slowly eroding his divine soul.

Jing Yan’s entire body began to tremble.

”No!”

”No...” Jing Yan’s eyes turned blood-red, and he roared with all his might, trying to break free.

The Nihility Divine Ability had no effect.

The Sword Intent Divine Ability couldn’t be activated.

The gap in realms was too vast.

”Am I going to die?”

”Am I going to die just like this?” Jing Yan’s consciousness began to blur. He struggled to stay conscious, to hold on.

But the gap between him and Mr. Zhong was too immense.

Jing Yan looked at Mr. Zhong. The sinister smile on Mr. Zhong’s face gradually blurred and merged with the surroundings.

Finally, Jing Yan completely lost consciousness, losing all perception of his surroundings.

”This is the fate of defying me! Die! Old man, another of your outstanding inheritors has died by my hand. What can you do? Hahaha...” These were the last words Jing Yan heard from Mr. Zhong.

At this moment, the Qiankun Ring suddenly released a faint energy wave. This energy enveloped Jing Yan’s body. The energy from Mr. Zhong that was corroding Jing Yan’s divine soul was swiftly expelled.
