My Monster Derived Skills Are the Orthodox Ones

Chapter 47: Chapter 47: Pregnant and on the Run

Holy shit!

Words Become Law?

Li Ye froze.

Yu Hai and the others stared at him in disbelief.

Xiang Ying’s earlier plea for Li Ye to save Xiangli had just been a temporary attempt to placate him. He never expected disaster to strike the Capital City the moment the words left his mouth.

He knew just how terrifying an out-of-control Xiangli could be, and he panicked. ”What did you say?”

”Your Majesty, the imperial palace is gone! The empress, many of the Noble Consorts, the Sixth Prince, the Eighth Prince... they’ve all... they’ve all been slaughtered by the Prince...” the reporting Profound Guard stammered, kneeling on the ground and trembling. Blood spewed from his nose and mouth, his expression one of pure terror. ”The Prince... he’s not human! Arrows, heavy crossbows... nothing can hurt him! He’s not human... PTAH!”

A mouthful of black blood, mixed with what looked like internal organs, sprayed out.

The Profound Guard fell backward, his body convulsing violently a few times. His eyes were wide open, the look of terror forever frozen on his face.

The fight between Shi Xiang’s group and the Profound Guard had long since stopped. A dead silence fell over the area.

’Everyone is dead?’

Xiang Ying swayed violently, looking as if he was about to faint. Zhong Liang, the Profound Guard commander in charge of his protection, quickly steadied him.

”How could this happen? Everything was fine before I left...” Xiang Ying muttered, his face ashen and his mind reeling.

Given the travel speed of a Profound Guard, it would take at least two days to get here from the Capital City.

This meant the news the Profound Guard brought was two days old. The imperial palace had been massacred two days ago. He didn’t dare to imagine what chaos the Capital City had descended into by now.

’Take it down! We have to take it down as fast as possible!’ the Team Emblem shrieked anxiously in Li Ye’s mind. ’Li Ye, that thing was definitely provoked by us. It won’t be long before it comes hunting for us. We have to strike first! Otherwise, if we let it keep killing, the rate at which its Demon Qi accumulates will skyrocket...’

’Soul Devourer doesn’t seem like a slaughter-type monster. Can it really increase its Demon Qi by killing people?’

A question popped into Li Ye’s mind, but he couldn’t ask it aloud in front of so many people, or he would expose his secrets.

But he also knew that he couldn’t let Xiangli continue his slaughter.

...

’Improving myself will inevitably alert other Demon Qi. Not improving myself means waiting for death when I encounter other Demon Qi...’

’It’s an unsolvable problem!’

So, Li Ye didn’t regret making such a big scene. He was even a little glad that he had raised his strength as quickly as he had.

What must be faced, must be faced. Li Ye looked at Xiang Ying. ”Emperor, did you tell him you were coming to see me?”

”Yes, Xiangli was still calm at the time,” Xiang Ying murmured. ”Lord Li, I don’t understand. Why did he suddenly go berserk? He was perfectly fine before...”

’You provoked it before you left. And after all this time, news of the football club must have reached the Capital City. It felt threatened. It’d be strange if it *didn’t* go berserk!’

”The Soul Devourer is sentient,” Li Ye said with a cold laugh. ”With me keeping it suppressed before, it didn’t dare to resist. But how could it be content being controlled by a mere Mortal? If I’m not mistaken, for the past year, Xiangli hasn’t been Xiangli at all. He’s been a puppet controlled by the Soul Devourer.”

”A puppet?” Xiang Ying shuddered.

”...” Li Ye ignored him and continued, ”Xiangli’s sudden rampage is likely because he learned about me and wants to take me out while I’m still weak...”

”Isn’t the Soul Devourer your weapon, sir?” Xiang Ying asked, incredulous.

”Once a weapon gains sentience, it’s no longer just a weapon. Throughout history, there have been countless cases of intelligent weapons turning on their masters.” Li Ye shook his head and sighed, then looked at Yu Hai and Huaiyi. ”You two Grandmasters, I originally planned to let you grow for a while longer before we went to retrieve the Soul Devourer. It seems we no longer have that time. I must ask you to accompany me on a trip to retrieve it now! If we let it continue its slaughter, I’m afraid even I won’t be able to subdue it.”

”It is our duty,” Yu Hai and Huaiyi said in unison, exchanging a look and clasping their fists.

”Shi Xiang, Old Liu, bring the main force of the first team with me.” Li Ye then looked to Shi Xiang and the others, giving his orders. ”The matches for the next two days cannot be stopped. Have the second team fill in...”

”Yes, sir,” Shi Xiang and the others replied in unison.

”I am in your debt, sir,” Xiang Ying said hurriedly. ”The Profound Guard are all Innate Masters. They are at your command.”

”Mm, everyone, keep up!” Li Ye said with a smile, looking at the Profound Guard. ”It’s also good to have spectators on site to cheer us on...”

...

Li Ye and his group didn’t linger. After arranging the upcoming matches, they rushed toward the Capital City without stopping.

Li Ye and the two Grandmasters were the fastest.

But to accommodate the Innate Masters in the group, they slowed their pace.

After all, football is a team sport. Li Ye would rather wait for the whole team to arrive and enter the field together than take on a boss with just two Grandmasters.

It would normally take an Innate Master two days to reach the Capital City, but by ”dribbling,” the journey was shortened to a day and a half.

Xiang Ying was also an Innate Master. After he and the Profound Guard established the Royal Football Club, he also enjoyed the benefits of having his body reformed by Spiritual Power, making him trust Li Ye even more.

Worried sick about the situation in the Capital City, he couldn’t be bothered with his imperial image. He just ”dribbled” along with the Profound Guard, racing down the official road.

But one piece of bad news arrived after another.

...

”The Imperial Guard has been wiped out.”

”The Crown Prince’s Mansion has been wiped out.”

”The Capital Guard Camp has been wiped out.”

...

As they neared the Capital City, the official road was already teeming with fleeing civilians.

Every one of them had a look of terror on their face, and they all screamed about a demon descending upon the world.

It was from these people that Li Ye learned what had happened in the Capital City.

After Xiangli went mad, he killed almost everyone on sight, not caring whether they were nobles or commoners.

It wasn’t at all what Xiang Ying had thought—a power grab to become emperor. It was simply killing for the sake of killing.

Xiang Ying’s face was drained of all color. He didn’t know whether to feel fortunate or sorrowful.

’Two years!’

’He had been living in the same palace as a demon for two years. If Xiangli had erupted at any point during that time, he probably wouldn’t have survived...’

Yu Hai, Shi Xiang, and the others were also terrified.

Previously, Li Ye had told them he was the sixth-most wanted Star Thief in the Galactic Federation and had once wiped out several low-level civilizations.

As they spent more time with Li Ye, they had begun to doubt it. After all, Lord Li’s cultivation methods just seemed a bit odd, but he was a pretty easygoing person.

Over time, they even began to think it was all just boasting on Lord Li’s part to intimidate them.

But now, they believed him.

’If his weapon alone could slaughter an entire capital city in just a few days, then Lord Li wiping out several low-level civilizations was probably true, too...’

’The Galactic Federation is too chaotic. Is a higher civilization really suitable for us?’

...

Li Ye, on the other hand, was reminded of the Chaos of Jingzhou back on Earth, which had been caused by a Demon Hunter who had lost his way.

Millions of people died in that incident as well.

’It seems that no matter what type of monster it is, slaughter is the fastest way to increase its Demon Qi...’

’Or rather, the monsters themselves have limits.’

’But after possessing or controlling a human, those limits disappear, and killing becomes the fastest path to growth.’

Li Ye touched the Team Emblem in his pocket, a lingering fear in his heart.

’Maybe one day, I’ll also become a demon in the eyes of others, knowing only how to kill!’

...

The closer they got to the Capital City, the more refugees they encountered.

”Gaotang, Yuhua, Fenzhou... Lord Li, the demon is slaughtering its way toward Weining...” Xiang Ying’s eyes were bloodshot, and his whole body was trembling. ”The total population of those four places is in the hundreds of thousands. Lord Li, you must take down that demon!”

”Mm, I will.”

Li Ye gazed in the direction of the Capital City, his expression exceptionally grave as he smelled the faint scent of blood in the air.

At this moment, however, he felt a profound lack of confidence.

During the Chaos of Jingzhou, the Demon Hunting Bureau suffered sixty percent casualties before they managed to suppress it.

In this world, he was all alone. Moreover, he’d had less than a month to prepare and had only awakened a single Monster Derived Skill.

’Can I really do this?’

But the Demon Qi was clearly coming for him. He was afraid he couldn’t escape even if he wanted to.

He had originally chosen the Team Emblem so that more people could help him take some of the heat. He never thought that in the end, he would still be the one at the very front.

’No wonder the Demon Hunting Bureau only gave us one year.’

’Who could possibly survive a year in such a harsh environment?’

’What the hell kind of mission is this?’

’No wonder the death rate for Time Travelers is so high. This really isn’t a job for humans...’
