Gardener of Eden

Chapter 153: Chapter 153: L’Étoile D’Or

The notification arrived via a gold-embossed letter delivered directly to the store by an immaculate courier. Executive Chef Julian, the culinary visionary behind the famed three-Michelin-starred L’Étoile D’Or, was cordially inviting Rowan, Arthur, and Martha to an exclusive, closed-door dinner at his establishment to celebrate Rowan’s safe return from the Crucible.

Chef Julian had been one of Rowan’s very first clients when Eden’s crops were still just a local rumor. Taking a gamble on a young cultivator, Julian had incorporated the domain’s mana-rich produce into his seasonal tasting menus—a bold move that catapulted L’Étoile D’Or into unprecedented prestige, earning it its third Michelin star and cementing its reputation across the continent.

That evening, the family arrived at the grand estate of L’Étoile D’Or. The restaurant’s heavy mahogany doors were locked to the general public, reserved entirely for their private party. As they crossed the threshold into the opulent dining hall, Chef Julian himself strode out from the main kitchen in a crisp white jacket, his face lighting up with genuine warmth and admiration.

”Rowan! Master Arthur, Lady Martha!” Julian greeted eagerly, bowing with deep respect before offering Arthur a firm handshake. ”It is an absolute honor to host the family whose fields made my lifelong culinary dream possible. When I heard you had returned safely, Rowan, I knew I had to prepare something truly special for the creators of our finest ingredients.”

Julian escorted them to the velvet-draped private dining room, where a bespoke multi-course menu awaited—each dish meticulously crafted to accentuate the natural mana and vibrant flavors of Eden’s harvest.

The dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary. Julian presented a silk-smooth chilled gazpacho made from Verdant Crown Tomatoes, followed by delicate pan-seared sea bass drizzled with a velvety, rich emulsion derived from the new Sun-Gilded Jade Avocado. The pure, elemental vitality of the crops harmonized seamlessly with Julian’s flawless French technique. With every bite, a gentle, soothing warmth refreshed their bodies, leaving Martha visibly glowing with vitality and Arthur savoring every rich, complex note.

”Your produce isn’t just ingredient-tier, Rowan,” Chef Julian remarked softly as he poured them a vintage spiced nectar. ”It’s alive. It elevates culinary creation into art. As long as L’Étoile D’Or stands, our kitchen belongs to Eden.” ℯℯ𝑙.

Surrounded by world-class fine dining and deep mutual respect, Rowan enjoyed a peaceful evening with his parents, watching them soak in the grand legacy their humble family store was building.

As the soft ivory ambient light reflected off crystal glassware, Arthur gently reached across the starched linen table and took Martha’s hand. For years, their lives had been measured solely in exhaustion—endless double shifts at the market, sleepless nights spent beside Rowan’s bedside wiping away fevers, and the crushing weight of medical bills that never seemed to end. Back then, a luxury like L’Étoile D’Or wasn’t just out of reach; it belonged to a completely different world.

Now, watching the vibrant color in his wife’s cheeks as she enjoyed a spoonful of delicate Glacial-Berry Parfait, Arthur felt a quiet lump form in his throat. The deep, dark circles that had carved themselves under her eyes for nearly a decade were completely gone, replaced by a radiant health that made her look years younger.

”You know,” Martha murmured softly, her thumb gently tracing Arthur’s knuckles as her eyes glistened with unshed tears, ”for so long, I thought our entire lives would just be... surviving. Hoping we’d make enough by sunset to afford Rowan’s next dose of medicine or cover tomorrow’s rent. I forgot what it felt like to just breathe.”

Rowan sat across from them, taking in the quiet emotion settling over the table. The legendary crops, the high-tier domain, the security wards, and the expanding regional trade network were incredible accomplishments, but seeing his parents finally resting—free from fear, pain, and endless toil—was the true victory he had fought so hard to secure.

”You don’t ever have to worry about surviving again, Mom,” Rowan said softly, his voice carrying a warm, unwavering promise. ”From now on, you and Dad only focus on living. Taking trips, enjoying the store at your own pace, and getting ready for my little sister.”

Arthur let out a long, shuddering breath, a deep smile breaking through his weathered features as he raised his glass toward his son. ”To the boy who carried our world on his shoulders—and built us a home where we can finally rest.”

Chef Julian watched quietly from the kitchen doorway with a soft smile of profound respect, ensuring the service remained entirely undisturbed. For the rest of the evening, surrounded by world-class hospitality and the gentle warmth of their newfound peace, Arthur and Martha simply held hands, savoring every moment of a life they had earned together.

As the exquisite multi-course meal came to an end, Arthur and Martha offered their heartfelt gratitude to Chef Julian and the attentive service staff who had taken such meticulous care of them throughout the night.

”Thank you for an truly unforgettable evening, Julian,” Arthur said warmly, giving the executive chef a firm handshake. ”You’ve given my family a memory we will treasure for a long time.”

”The honor was entirely mine, Master Arthur,” Julian replied with a bow of profound respect. ”To create dishes with Eden’s produce is a dream for any chef. Please, return whenever you wish—the doors of L’Étoile D’Or are forever open to your family.”

As they began walking toward the restaurant’s private exit, Rowan paused beside Julian, a quiet, knowing smile playing on his lips.

”Before we head out, Julian... I left a small token of our appreciation back at our dining table,” Rowan said casually. ”In a wooden crate, you’ll find a dozen Sun-Gilded Jade Avocados.”

Julian’s eyes widened in sheer astonishment. As a culinary master tuned into the highest trade networks, he had already caught whispers of the glowing, emerald-and-gold fruit that had made a brief, legendary debut at Eden’s front counter earlier that morning.

”The... the new unreleased crop?” Julian stammered, his usual polished composure yielding to pure excitement. ”Rowan, those are completely priceless right now! Master alchemists and high nobility are already trying to bid fortunes for a single specimen!”

”Consider it an exclusive preview,” Rowan chuckled softly. ”You were one of the very first people to take a chance on our produce when Eden was just starting out. It’s only right that the chef who helped elevate our harvest gets first access before we officially roll out wholesale distribution.”

Julian pressed a hand over his heart, visibly moved by the gesture. ”I don’t even know how to thank you, Rowan. I will personally craft a new signature dish that does this legendary yield the absolute honor it deserves.”

With warm farewells exchanged, Rowan ushered his parents out into the cool night air. The ride back to the farm was quiet and peaceful, framed by the starry sky and the reassuring knowledge that their home was guarded by an impenetrable ward. Wrapped in total comfort and safety, the family headed home, ready for the bright new Chapter awaiting them.
