SSS-Ranked Surgeon In Another World: The Healer Is Actually OP!

Rage surged, raw and consuming, fueling his resistance beyond normal limits.

The pressure crushing his consciousness faltered, just for a heartbeat. The invading presence wavered as those memories sharpened, no longer fragments dragged up in desperation, but living truths carved into his soul.

Pain, grief, and fury braided together, forming an anchor the demon could not easily tear free.

As memories of his wife surfaced. Her smile burned brighter than the darkness around him.

For a fleeting instant, it cut through the invasion like a blade of light.

Bane felt it clearly. Not as memory alone, but as weight. As anchor. The warmth of her hand in his. The calm confidence in her eyes even as reality fractured around her. The way she had smiled at him in the end, knowing exactly what she was walking into.

’Live, Bane.’

That single unspoken word thundered through his soul.

His resistance surged.

The darkness of the domain convulsed as Bane forced everything inward, compressing will, pain, memory, rage, and love into a single point. The foreign soul recoiled slightly, not in fear, but in surprise.

’So this is what binds you,’ the demon observed, its presence sharpening. ’How inefficient.’

Bane roared internally, driving himself forward, his consciousness slamming into the intruder again and again.

’She died because of you,’ he snarled. ’Because of your curse. Because of your kind.’

Pain lanced through him as the demon answered by tightening its grip. His heartbeat stuttered. His lungs seized. His vision darkened at the edges.

And yet the demon did not retreat.

’I killed her,’ the voice admitted calmly. ’Yes. And you still failed to protect her.’

The words struck deeper than any curse. Because the demon was right…

Bane’s soul shuddered.

’Your grief makes you strong,’ the demon continued. ’But strength born from attachment is brittle. It cracks when pressure mounts. You cling to memory like it grants you ownership.’

’It doesn’t.’

Bane felt something fundamental give way.

The demon pressed deeper, its presence threading itself through every weakness, every crack formed by loss, regret, and guilt. It did not overpower him in one decisive blow. It eroded him. Patiently. Methodically.

Bane’s domain trembled again, shadows flickering wildly as his authority slipped. The darkness that had once answered him without question now hesitated, warping unevenly, responding slower, weaker.

’No,’ Bane growled, forcing himself upright within his own consciousness. ’I won’t yield. I refuse.’

’You will yield whether you like it or not.’ The demon surged.

A flood of foreign intent crashed through Bane’s soul, overwhelming, suffocating. His memories were pushed aside, layered over, drowned beneath something vast and ancient. His awareness fractured as the demon’s essence expanded, filling every space Bane could no longer hold.

Burning pain tore through him as his senses inverted.

Up became down. Self became other.

Bane tried to scream, but his voice dissolved into silence.

His resistance weakened, not because it vanished, but because it no longer had room to exist. His soul was being compressed, forced inward, stripped of control and relegated to the deepest recess of his own existence.

’This body was never truly yours,’ the demon stated coldly. ’It was only borrowed. Maintained. Preserved. For me… Your entire existence was to evolve this body for me’

’Now it is claimed. It’s mine!’

Bane felt it then. The moment of loss.

The connection snapped.

His grip on his muscles vanished. His breath no longer obeyed him. His heartbeat no longer answered his will. He was still there, still conscious, still aware, but no longer in control.

He was a passenger. The demon settled fully into place.

Bane’s eyes lifted slowly, pupils contracting as the darkness of the domain reflected within them. When he moved, it was smooth. Effortless. Complete.

He flexed one hand, testing the body. Mana flowed obediently. Muscles responded with terrifying precision. The domain stabilized instantly, no longer flickering, no longer resisting.

A deep breath filled Bane’s lungs, then escaped in a slow, satisfied exhale.

“So,” the demon spoke aloud, voice layered, richer, carrying a resonance that had not been there before. “This is the body of Bane Reign.”

He tilted his head slightly, examining the domain around him, shadows bending subtly in response to his mere presence.

“Hm. Not bad,” he mused. “Crude in some places, but sturdy. And the soul…”

A faint smile curved his lips.

“…still alive.”

Bane screamed within the confines of his own mind, thrashing against invisible restraints, his consciousness slamming uselessly against walls he could no longer affect.

The demon chuckled softly, a sound filled with genuine amusement.

“Struggle if you wish,” he said lazily. “It changes nothing.”

He lifted his gaze, eyes gleaming with cold delight.

“With an SSS-ranked body and an SSS-ranked soul,” he continued, spreading his arms slightly as the domain trembled in response, “I can finally proceed with the trial to break through.”

His laughter echoed through the darkness, sharp and exhilarated.

“Hahaha. Fate truly does have a sense of irony. An unawakened soul like yours never stood a chance against mine.”

He lowered his arms, smile widening.

“You should feel honored,” he said calmly. “With my guidance, this body may finally transcend the restrictions of this world.”

Inside, buried deep within himself, Bane felt the last fragments of control slip away.

And the darkness closed in.

Bane growled as he struggled to regain control over the body…

The clash intensified. Bane felt himself slipping, then forcing himself back. His heartbeat thundered violently as veins darkened beneath his skin, his aura flaring erratically. For several long seconds, neither side fully dominated. His body shook uncontrollably, suspended in mid-air as the domain trembled on the brink of collapse.

But it didn’t last. The demon adapted.

Its soul unfolded further, layers upon layers of refined essence spreading like roots through fertile ground. Bane felt his resistance thinning, his control fraying as his limbs grew heavier.

’You are strong for an unawakened soul,’ the demon admitted. ’But strength without evolution is meaningless.’

Bane felt it then. The tipping point.

His consciousness was being pushed aside, compressed, forced deeper as control slipped from his grasp inch by inch. His vision dimmed, sounds muffled, his awareness dragged toward a dark corner of his own existence.

“No…” he whispered, desperation creeping in despite his resolve. “Not like this…”
