Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 658: Chapter 658: Self-Blame and Carelessness

Cheng Su’s grievances poured out through her tears; Qi Taiguo held her tightly, allowing her to punch and scold him, crying along with her, filled with towering hatred in his heart.

He hated the Chiang family, and he also hated himself, for being so weak, allowing others to butcher him. If he too stood in a high position, would anyone dare trample over them like this?

When it came down to it, it was all about power.

”The baby, the baby is gone,” Cheng Su sobbed breathlessly: ”I, I didn’t know I was pregnant, I didn’t know, it’s gone, woohoo.” ”It’s okay, it’s okay, there will be others in the future. He just wasn’t ready to call us mom and dad, he’ll come back, don’t worry,” Qi Taiguo hastily consoled.

Cheng Su shook her head, crying bitterly, ”It’s not that, he didn’t want us, why did you come back so late?”

”I’m sorry, I was late!” Qi Taiguo’s heart clenched, he closed his eyes, letting regret engulf him.

After a long while, Cheng Su stopped crying. Qi Taiguo wrung out a hot towel to wipe her face, then sat next to her, taking her hand again, saying, ”I’m back, don’t worry. Just focus on getting better, I’m here for everything else.”

Tears continued to stream down Cheng Su’s face, pain and guilt written across it: ”I’m sorry, I didn’t know I was pregnant, it was my carelessness.”

If she had been aware of her own condition, she definitely would have been more cautious, but who knew, she would conceive so quietly.

”This isn’t your fault, we were both using contraception, no one could have expected this to happen. It’s okay, the doctor said we’re still young, we’re healthy, as long as you recover well, we’ll have another chance,” Qi Taiguo kissed her hand again and again.

Cheng Su nodded, but couldn’t stop her tears of sorrow.

”You’re tired, why don’t you rest and sleep a little? Ning Ge has gone to the restaurant to get some soup,” Qi Taiguo offered gently, arranging her hair.

”Don’t go,” Cheng Su clung to his hand, tears streaming down relentlessly.

”I won’t go, I’ll stay with you, I’m here, don’t worry,” Qi Taiguo promised with a smile.

Cheng Su looked at him with full dependence, saying, ”It was Chiang Qing’s mother, she pushed me, and my stomach hit the corner of the table.”

In fact, it wasn’t just her mother; two days before, when she and Chiang Qing had fought, she had already taken a fall, feeling some pain in her abdomen then, which she had ignored, not giving it a second thought. Probably, the signs were already there.

The new life within her, how could it withstand such a fall?

Then today, Lu Shufen had pushed her twice; the first time she hit her lower back, then the blow to her abdomen was square on, and that was it.

Cheng Su’s tears welled up again; blaming others was less important than blaming her own negligence, which had cost her child’s life.

”If I had known I was pregnant, I definitely wouldn’t have dared to confront them, I didn’t know...” Cheng Su cried.

”Don’t blame yourself, we didn’t know, who would? Each time we took precautions, but still...” Qi Taiguo also found it strange, how could this have happened?

Cheng Su choked up, saying, ”It’s just our bad luck, they say that even with that there’s a one in a thousand chance, I...”

Not only is there a chance with condoms, but she heard that even those who get IUDs, or even sterilizations can still conceive. How could she have such a body constitution?

”Okay, okay, let’s not talk about this anymore, close your eyes and rest now, we’ll talk again later, okay?” Qi Taiguo saw how haggard she was and pat her hand gently.

With tears in her eyes, Cheng Su finally closed them and soon fell into a deep sleep.
