Back To The 80s: President's Doted Wife

Chapter 403: Chapter 403 We’re Just Colleagues

Qi Taiguo said he didn’t need much clothing, but Cheng Su still rode her bike into town to buy him a fine woolen sweater and packed it in his luggage.

This gesture made Qi Taiguo feel somewhat moved, or was it just his wife showing her concern for him.

”It’s getting cold now, make sure to keep warm, and don’t catch a cold. Since I’m not there, don’t come back too late, and rest early,” Qi Taiguo said to Cheng Su, then reached out to adjust her jacket, wrapping her up tightly.

”You too, when you’re out, make sure to wear more layers, don’t be carelessly cold, saying you’re hot-blooded,” Cheng Su replied. ”Most importantly, be safe, be safe, I have to say it three times, be safe. Come back to me in one piece.”

”Got it,” Qi Taiguo smiled and said, ”Go back, the wind is strong here.”

Cheng Su nodded, her face full of reluctance as she said, ”Then I’m leaving!”

Qi Taiguo waved his hand.

Cheng Su turned around, but in less than a second, she turned back and threw herself into his arms, planting a kiss on his face: ”Remember to miss me.”

Then, before Qi Taiguo could react, she let go of him and ran off.

Qi Taiguo, covering his face, caught a glimpse of the sentries smirking with suppressed laughter, and couldn’t help but blush. He coughed and said, ”Stand straight, a soldier’s posture must always be upright.”

The two sentries immediately straightened their backs and sucked in their stomachs, all seriousness on their face, yet the corners of their mouths were still curved up.

Qi Taiguo’s lips were also curved as he looked back at Cheng Su running into the distance, his eyes filled with tenderness and doting.

This scene was witnessed by Chiang Qing from not too far away, her heart sour as if she had drunk ten jars of aged vinegar.

”Commander Qi and sister-in-law are really affectionate!” As Qi Taiguo approached, Chiang Qing said with a tinge of jealousy, ”It’s just that sister-in-law doesn’t seem to care about appearances.”

Qi Taiguo stopped in his tracks upon hearing her comment on Cheng Su and glanced at her indifferently, saying, ”Doctor Chiang is still unwed, naturally, you don’t understand these pleasures between a husband and wife. When you find someone you love, you will understand.”

Chiang Qing, choked by his response, felt even more upset and bit her lower lip.

Qi Taiguo didn’t bother with her and walked past.

Chiang Qing, always proud and temperamental, was not used to being treated this way and chased after him, saying, ”Commander Qi, I don’t believe I’ve offended you, so why do you always speak to me so coldly?”

Qi Taiguo felt baffled and said, ”Doctor Chiang is overthinking it, I’ve always spoken like this. If I’ve offended you in any way, please forgive my blunt mannerisms.”

Nonsense, you’re all tenderness with your wife, but ice-cold with me, Chiang Qing thought, biting her lip.

Chiang Qing caught up with him again and said, ”I didn’t mean to blame you, it’s just that I think we could get along better. But Commander Qi, it seems like you have some misunderstanding about me, you’re always so distant.”

Qi Taiguo stopped and looked at her.

Chiang Qing’s eyes sparkled, waiting for him to speak, but Qi Taiguo just looked at her until her face felt hot, and she covered her face, asking shyly, ”What, what is it?”

”Doctor Chiang, if I’ve done something to give you the wrong impression, I apologize here and now,” Qi Taiguo said calmly. ”In my eyes, Doctor Chiang is just a colleague, nothing more. That’s also why our interactions should be no different than any others. I hope you understand that.”

Chiang Qing’s face changed slightly as she watched him stride away, her hand tightening into a fist.
