Forty Millenniums of Cultivation

In the illusions projected by the jade, bright gold embryos wreathed in electric arcs were bouncing like transparent hearts. Supported by tremendous resources, they grew and developed rapidly. Veins and nerves that looked like sprouts popped out and gradually formed a complicated network of human beings.

One engine furnace after another was ignited, highlighting the magnificent appearance of Jade and illuminating the dark and twisted world fragments.

It was like a beast that had been trapped in a swamp. It was hiding its claws and teeth and accumulating its strength. Although it was unable to break free for the time being, it was not far away from the day when it would leap up.

“Right now, we are no match for the traitors such as First Officer Quake, but they won’t be arrogant for long.

Jade imitated Captain Kelly’s countenance and tone as she said, “From the moment they chose to give up their pride, glory, and destiny, they gave up the urge to evolve, gave up billions of brand-new possibilities, and gave up the ambition that grew stronger with each generation. From now on, they can only lie in the hotbeds of available resources and technology and make imaginary dreams, or betray each other and kill each other.

“Before long, their current technology will be lost, their social system will completely collapse, and they will forever remain in the dark and obscure Middle Ages, turning themselves into frogs in a well.

“Therefore, please be patient, compatriots. The real final battle will not be fought right now but in ten thousand years’ time. By then, the strength of the Emerald Continent will be at its weakest, and Emerald will return to its peak. At that time, we will descend from the sky with unimaginable strength and show the descendants of the traitors the glory of the Primeval Civilization!

“These are Captain Kelly’s last words.

“Other than his last words, there was also the ‘Witch Gene’, as well as several secret arsenals. Captain Kelly knew that, with the shortage of resources and the further deterioration of the environment, the loss of technology and the fault of civilization would occur on both sides of the Emerald Continent and Jade. It was going to be a ‘worse’ competition. In order to ensure that the descendants of the crew members on Jade could remember their mission despite their low technology, Captain Kelly had to design the development route of Jade in person.

“Just like that, Jade turned into the ‘Bloody Battle Demon Sector’. The orbital assault force with the strongest combat ability on the starship turned into the ‘Hell Destroyer Clan’. The maintenance soldiers responsible for the damage control system turned into the ‘Strong Arm Clan’. The mechanics responsible for the maintenance of the power furnaces and the adjustment of the power output turned into the ‘Fire Clan’. The researchers responsible for the modification of plants and animals to maintain the ecological balance on the starship and the genetic experiments on the starship turned into the ‘Beast Taming Clan’. The medics turned into the ‘Medusa Clan’. The guards guarding the critical nodes of the satellite starship to prevent the enemy from boarding the starship turned into the ‘Black Shield Clan’. Finally, the crew members of the bridge team, who still remained loyal to their mission, turned into the ‘Tu Ling Clan’.

“Captain Kelly carved a lot of information about the creation and manipulation of the starship of the Primeval Civilization into the gene strands of every species and left the ‘crimson palace’ and the ‘witch gene’, which even the primitive barbarians could understand and pursue. It was the best she could do.

“As it turned out, shortly after Captain Kelly’s death, because most of the resources had to be supplied to the automatic repair of Jade, the living environment of Jade was extremely bad because of the shortage of resources. All kinds of extraordinary technologies were lost. People gradually forgot the glory of their ancestors and even started killing each other for the space under their noses, just like the people on the Jade Continent.

“Maybe, this is the nature of human beings. Glory, unity, destiny, and the creeds carved on the gene strands are all no match for the natural instincts in the deepest part of the soul. Human beings are such a species that will kill each other at any time. It is exactly because of such survival of the fittest that the strongest in the crowd can be selected to control the entire universe.

“All in all, Captain Kelly had foreseen everything. The internal strife of the Blood Demon Sector did not cross the line of self-destruction after all. In the end, the design of Captain Kelly and the arrangement of fate brought you to this place—the carrier of the Witch Gene.

“Of course, it’s impossible that Captain Kelly met Black Jack. Master Devourer? I didn’t find any relevant information in my database. He should be just an insignificant interlude before the final battle between us and the Flood Tide.

Theresa was dumbfounded.

Jade’s words contained too much information for her to digest.

However, when she heard the last sentence, she couldn’t help but shout, “An insignificant episode? Come on. He is about to break in. Judging from his hideous appearance, I wonder whether he is more terrifying than the flood!”

“There’s no doubt about that. It must be a flood.”

Jade said, “Even if he is the so-called ‘Master Devourer’, his strength is not even one billionth of the flood. As long as you inherit the full strength of Captain Kelly, you will have more than a fifty percent chance of defeating him. There is no need to worry.”

“More than… fifty percent?”

Theresa narrowed her eyes. “Wait. You were saying that there was a 70% to 80% likelihood that we could defeat him. Why is it ‘more than half’ now? Although the odds are still more than 50%, I have a bad feeling that the odds you calculated have plummeted again.”

Jade was silent.

“Tell me, how much chance do we have left?” Theresa asked.

“…Very high.”

Jade said in a low voice.

“Ha, very high? How high is very high?” Theresa asked.

“Anyways, very high is very high. It is definitely a win-win situation that is worth taking a gamble on. The most glorious descendant of Jade, please don’t ask so many boring questions. Just remember the sacred mission of your ancestors and inherit the full strength of the starship so that you can fight the enemy to the death!”

Jade changed the topic.

Theresa took a deep breath. Her head and stomach were aching more and more.

“Sister Summer, what do you think?”

Her mind was in a mess. She could only ask for Princess Summer’s opinion.

Princess Summer, on the other hand, was somewhat dazed. Her face was pale, and her body was cold. She had been greatly shocked.

“Deserters… My ancestors… were just a bunch of sordid, cowardly deserters?”

Princess Summer mumbled to herself, “Is the glory of the Jadeite Continent tens of thousands of years just an illusion?”
