Entry: I Secretly Cultivate Immortality in the Martial Arts World

6: Chapter 6: The Flowing Light and Shadow Splitting Sword! The two walked into a quiet maple grove outside the herb garden.

The maple leaves were just beginning to turn slightly red, and only the sound of the wind rustling through the leaves could be heard in the grove.

Lin Wei stopped under a thick, ancient maple tree, turned to face Gu Yan, her smile fading slightly, and her expression became serious:

”Junior Brother, I do not yet know how to address you?”

”Outer Sect Disciple, Gu Yan.” Gu Yan cupped his hands.

”Gu Yan... A good name.” Lin Wei repeated in a low voice, her eyes brightening slightly, and she suddenly took half a step forward.

”Junior Brother Gu, my name is Lin Wei.”

”Although we have not known each other for long, during this time, I have observed that your Heart-Nature is steady, which is very different from ordinary Disciples.”

”It might be a bit abrupt to say this... but I have truly fallen for you at first sight, Junior Brother. I wish to become your Dao Companion and pursue the martial path together.”

”I wonder, Junior Brother... what do you think?”

Although the Taiyi Dao Sect belonged to the Daoist lineage, it was not a School that required asceticism and the suppression of desires.

If male and female Disciples within the Sect were of one mind and chose to become Dao Companions to support each other, the Sect rules considered it a common occurrence.

Upon hearing this, Gu Yan’s face showed some astonishment and hesitation, and he was about to politely refuse...

Unexpectedly, Lin Wei seemed well-prepared, and without waiting for him to speak, she continued:

”Don’t be in such a rush to refuse, Junior Brother. I know that cultivation in the Outer Sect is not easy and resources are scarce.”

”I am now at the Peak of the First Rank of the martial path, my nine acupoints are filled with Internal Energy, and I will soon be able to condense a Qi vortex and advance to the Second Rank.”

”Once I have a Breakthrough, the First Rank Medicinal Pills and auxiliary cultivation items I currently use will be of little use to me.”

”By then, I can give them all to you, Junior Brother, to help you reach the Late Stage of the First Rank, or even the Peak, as soon as possible!”

Seeing Gu Yan’s eyes flicker, as if he were considering it, Lin Wei felt a surge of joy. Striking while the iron was hot, she even took a yellowed booklet from her sleeve.

”And this sword technique!”

She held the booklet out in front of Gu Yan.

”I obtained this by chance when I was traveling through the Great Qian with my Revered Master. It is not a Sect Martial Skill, and it is called ’The Flowing Light Splitting Shadow Sword’.”

”Although I have tried to comprehend it, I found its meaning obscure and profound, making it difficult to enter the door, but the sword principles within are absolutely extraordinary.”

”Today, I will give it to you, Junior Brother!”

Gu Yan’s gaze landed on the booklet, and his heart trembled slightly.

In this world, there was no clear classification for Cultivation Techniques and Martial Skills.

The quality of a Cultivation Technique was determined solely by how many Ranks its theory could support the practitioner to reach.

The strength of a Martial Skill depended entirely on how much of its true meaning an individual could grasp with their Comprehension Ability.

Therefore, a sword technique of unknown origin that might be extremely profound was of immeasurable value.

Moreover, in the Outer Sect of the Taiyi Dao Sect, the contribution points required to exchange for a decent sword technique were astronomical.

His daily consumption was quite high, and he mostly used his contribution points to exchange for food, leaving his pockets empty.

If he obtained this sword technique, not only would he have an extra means of self-defense, but he could also use it to conceal the spiritual energy characteristics that might be exposed in the future, which were quite different from the martial path.

Seeing him moved, the smile on Lin Wei’s lips deepened, and she felt certain of victory.

The favor of a beauty, the pouring of resources, and the gift of a profound sword technique.

How many people could refuse such conditions?

However, Gu Yan remained silent for a moment, then took a deep breath and said:

”I am deeply grateful for Senior Sister Lin’s kindness.”

”It’s just that this Junior Brother is dull in Aptitude and only wishes to focus on martial path cultivation without distraction; I truly cannot afford to be distracted.”

”As for the request to be Dao Companions, please forgive me, Senior Sister, for I cannot accept.”

”Furthermore, I will keep everything you said today a secret, Senior Sister, and will never spread it. Please rest assured.”

The smile on Lin Wei’s face stiffened, astonishment flashed in her eyes, and then shame and anger welled up.

As an Inner Sect Disciple with top-tier talent and beauty, she had been so proactive for the first time, only to be rejected so bluntly?

Gu Yan’s expression was calm.

His blunt refusal was not reckless, but rather because he was confident.

No matter how loose the Taiyi Dao Sect rules were, there were strict punishments for killing fellow Disciples.

Killing fellow Disciples without cause was an act of the Demonic Path; no matter how deep Lin Wei’s background was, she would never dare to blatantly violate this rule within the Sect.

As for secret methods?

He would just have to be careful; that was better than being dragged into emotional trouble by temporary benefits.

The atmosphere remained stagnant for a moment, but for some reason, the anger in Lin Wei’s eyes gradually dissipated.

This young man did not covet her beauty, did not covet the resources she promised, and could even resist the temptation of this obviously extraordinary sword technique...

Waves surged in Lin Wei’s heart.

She had seen too many sycophants and people who forgot righteousness for profit, and she had also seen many who fawned over her because of her beauty and status.

Like Gu Yan, someone who could clearly and firmly say they only wanted to Cultivate in the face of such temptation was almost unheard of.

Her mother once said that in this world, beautiful people and those with outstanding talent are not rare.

What is rare is someone with a firm Heart-Nature and their own depth of character.

With this thought, the annoyance in Lin Wei’s eyes faded away completely.

Refused? That’s okay.

This shows that Gu Yan has a firm will and cannot be compared to ordinary, frivolous Disciples.

Such a man is even more worthy of her affection.

Isn’t it just a matter of taking it slow? She has plenty of time and patience.

Good food is worth waiting for, and a good man... naturally must be slowly cultivated.

Thus, under Gu Yan’s slightly surprised gaze, Lin Wei suddenly chuckled.

It was as if the momentary shame and anger from just now were merely an illusion, and brightness returned to her beautiful face.

She did not take back ”The Flowing Light Splitting Shadow Sword” booklet; instead, she turned her wrist and held it out in front of Gu Yan again.

”Alright, Junior Brother Gu, look how nervous you are.”

”I was just asking, Junior Brother; if you don’t want to, can I force you to agree?”

”Cultivation is important. This kind of determination, Senior Sister not only understands but also admires.”

”As for this sword technique, you should keep it.”

Gu Yan was about to refuse again, but Lin Wei continued: ”This is just a copy I made in my spare time; the original is naturally kept safe.”

”Anyway, I can’t comprehend it, and leaving it here just lets it gather dust.”

”Seeing that you have a firm Heart-Nature today and are a true seeker of the martial path, giving it to you can be considered finding it a destined home.”

”Just take it, and study it in your spare time. If you can gain something from it, that is its good fortune.”

Gu Yan’s thoughts raced.

The other party was generous, and refusing again would seem unfeeling and might even provoke her competitive nature.

Moreover, this sword technique was truly very attractive to him and could greatly make up for the lack of attack methods at his current stage.

But once accepted, he would owe a favor, and his connection with Lin Wei would likely be even harder to clear...

His brows furrowed slightly, but Lin Wei seemed to see through his hesitation; she gave him no chance at all and directly stuffed the sword technique into Gu Yan’s arms.

”Take it, don’t be so coy, it doesn’t suit a straightforward person.”

”Let’s go, let’s go. If we delay any longer, Senior Sister Su will think I’ve kidnapped you and sold you.”

Before she finished speaking, she had already turned and headed back the way she came.

Gu Yan stood in place, watching her rapidly receding back, speechless for a moment.

After a while, he lowered his head to look at ”The Flowing Light Splitting Shadow Sword” in his arms.

Sigh, since he couldn’t refuse, he would accept it for now.

It was, after all, a tangible form of assistance.

Since he had accepted this favor today, he would just have to repay her ten or a hundred times over when his cultivation was sufficient in the future.

Gu Yan steadied himself, suppressed his complicated thoughts, and also returned.
