Prince of The Abyss

The heavy breath on his neck woke him up, even late in the night; he felt no urge to rest. Not now.

The family was walking behind him; they were panicked, yet at the same time, he was impressed. At the same time, Kade had saved their life. How could you ever sleep when the one who risked his life for you is in great danger?

The only one tired and close to falling asleep was Kade himself.

Of course, if he were to fall asleep, it wouldn’t mean the same thing as it would mean for them.

He would be dead, the moment his eyes closed, they wouldn’t open.

So it wasn’t just how much they could push; the boy also had to deny death.

He has to have a strong will to want to lie. And, if he knew Kade, he knew the boy had a dangerous will. He knew he was going to fight it until the end.

So he was going to fight with him.

...

It was his fault after all.

His mistake has caused everything.

The recklessness that he spoke about cost him everything.

Was attacking the bandits really a good idea? He should have known the ones he was fighting weren’t the only ones, and of course, they were going to attack when he was gone.

If he had waited... even when they attacked, he was there to stop them, even if he got badly hurt, he could get through it.

Eden was of huge hope yet again; if it hadn’t been for the skill, they would have gotten lost a long time ago, and wasting even a second may lead to the Boy’s death.

Though... he had to say, it was taking a toll on him.

Constantly using Eden for hours on end was exhausting, holding both worlds combined was not easy to do. And it wasn’t just him that it was damaging, but his soul also felt weaker than usual.

After all, he had been using it for a long time now.

The worst thing with the soul is that something like this has never been discovered, well outside the Abyss, so there isn’t anything to help you with it.

Either a weapon with soul damage, or some protection against it.

His vision was getting quite tilted; he was confused, but he kept going.

...

And yet was all this pushing from him and the family enough?

They were also all in bad condition, like he had said; none were tired, no one wished to sleep, but their bodies were all exhausted.

They had probably not walked this much, and walked in an understatement, they have been going at a faster pace than just walking, for a long time, or maybe this was the first time in their life.

For the children, it would be normal, but for the adults, not so much.

They didn’t have that much left to go; after all, they had already left the forest, but he felt as if the boy was getting worse at a faster rate than they were getting closer to their location.

He wanted to believe, he really did, that they would get to the Harbor and find someone there to treat him, but would there even be someone who could do something like that, and how much would it take to find him?

Did they have the time to search for him?

...

But... was he really going to do this?

Was it worth it? After all, he had already spent too much... what were they going to do after? They needed to eat.

...

’What am I even thinking? Of course it’s worth it!’

...

...

The Codex’s Trading Place... it had been a while since he even thought about it.

With there being the Marketplace in the Withered, the Trading Place inside the Codex was useless for the people of the Withered and Blue Rose. After all, the prices were a lot higher, and when it came to selling, you had a lot of competition.

And it wasn’t just the Blue Rose; many other Kingdoms had made their own trading places, many even forget the Codex has one... the one useful thing about it.

...

Is it possible for you to access it inside the books?

But even then, it is not worth.

The Trading Place uses real money, the money every kingdom uses, well, except the Withered, since they weren’t allowed to use the money of the Blue Rose and the rest of their world. For them, they had to pay more, well, in their money, it was still the same price.

However, when it came to money from books... it was worth far less.

Actually, it could get to the point that even a million coins from a book would be worth just one copper coin from the real world.

To understand just how bad using the Trading Place was inside books...

...

Yet did he have any other options... when Kade was dying on his back, what other thing was there to do?

Aether opened the Trading Place, watching as the Codex appeared in front of his eyes with thousands of items, all... expensive.

Also, another thing to note is that you can’t sell stuff inside books; you have to get out first. It is also because of the fact that you would get the money in the currency of the book, and it would be useless later, so the Codex tried to stop that.

Yet, right now, he wished he could.

He scrolled through the items, yet at the same time, he kept walking, since if he didn’t find anything to help the boy, he didn’t want to waste any time.

...

And after a while... he found a potion.

’A small low-level potion... for four hundred embers? That almost all of our money...’

...

And yet he didn’t hesitate to buy the potion.

Abilities-[Low power Healing]-This ability heals the user; however, its effects are not strong enough to heal bad injuries.

A round bottle with a red liquid inside, that was how it looked. It was small, really small, yet it was better than nothing. Did he wish he had one as he had in Frozen Crown, like the one’s the Jack had given him to heal Elpis and Avrie, if he did, but he knew that was impossible.

This potion won’t heal him, at least not enough; it will also probably not even save him completely.

But it will help...

At least enough to leave it up for his body to deal with it.

After he made him drink the potion, it was left for Kade to make the verdict, whether he was going to survive or not. It all depended on him, really, the only thing he could do after was try to find a doctor, or someone who had some sort of experience in healing.

But as he had said, it was going to be hard to find one.

...

Even more, someone willing to do it for free, after all, they didn’t have any money left, he was lucky the family had given him the four hundred before they got to the end, since if they hadn’t, he wouldn’t have been able to buy the potion.

Aether stopped, putting Kade on the ground, and kneeling next to him, so that he could help him drink the potion.

The boy was pale and looked completely exhausted, barely holding his eyes open, frequently alternating between holding them closed and barely opening them for a few seconds.

”Come on... open wide.”

The boy looked at him, the fire in his eyes was there, yet it was weaker than it was before... was he losing hope...

Aether gritted his teeth, but fed the boy the potion as he slowly opened his mouth.

The moment the last drop of the potion was done, he threw the bottle away.

[Your relic has been destroyed]

Then he picked the boy back up and continued on their way towards the harbor, the family following behind.

They had probably been confused about where he had gotten the potion, yet at the same time, was it really the same to ask? No, and they knew that?

So they didn’t ask anything about the potion, which made his life easier.

The last thing he wanted was to have to find a lie for it.

Since telling the people of the book your inside about the Trading Place is not recommended, just speaking about anything related to the Codex is.

Aether felt his breath get heavy as he continued to push himself more and more. Kade was not light, but at this time, with how exhausted his muscles were, he felt as if he was carrying a ship.

...

...

...

And yet, here they were, after such a long journey, where they walked for hours on end.

They have finally reached the gate of the Great Harbor.
