Chapter 729: Combat projection

“What did you say?” asked Sierra, surprised when she heard about the third feature of the Simularium, Combat Projection.

“Combat projection is something like a virtual battle arena, like in fantasy stories,” Idan explained, trying to explain to Sierra, Milisa, and others who are not entirely familiar with Earth’s culture.

Although the world has changed a lot since the disaster, and many things that were previously only in books have become reality, it was also difficult for Irene, Arslan and other inhabitants of the Earth to believe it.

“Who wants to try it?” Idan asked, looking around at everyone.

Esma was the first to raise her hand. She had spent more time on Earth and had already seen many films and short stories, so she was familiar with the concept of “virtual reality.”

“Who else?” asked Idan, fixing his gaze on Sierra.

“Why not,” Sierra said, stepping forward.

“Heh,” — Esma chuckled when she saw that Sierra was the other one.

When the candidates were decided, Idan drew attention to the “Owner’s rights” section.

————————–

**Owner’s rights: **

Access rights: The owners of the Simularium can determine any conditions for access to it: make the entrance free, paid, or completely ban it.

Time limit: Owners can set a time limit for how long visitors can stay inside the Simulator.

Administrator rights: Owners have the opportunity to change the settings of all projections at their discretion.

*Due to the lack of connection to the Systems Network, some features are unavailable.

————————–

“There is a note everywhere: ‘Due to the lack of connection to the Systems Network, some features are unavailable’…” Idan remarked, and Arabel also noticed this.

“Indeed,” — Arabel agreed.

“Systems Network… is it really something like the Internet, but only for System hosts?” Arabel suggested.

“This possibility is high,” Idan did not deny this possibility, and the more he thought about it, the more it seemed to him that this was the case.

“If that’s the case, then it will be something incredible,” Idan imagined for a moment how the Simularium would connect to the “Systems Network,” and any of the Awakened who were given access by Idan and Arabel could enter there, even without being physically in the Kingdom itself.

At the same time, Idan also recalled the “Right to open an auction house.”

Suddenly, a crazy idea struck him.

“What if…” he thought. — “Is it a Systems Network necessary to use the right to open an auction house? And the auction can be conducted through a Systems Network so that all Awakened ones who have access to this network can participate?”

After getting a little lost in his thoughts, Idan returned to what he was going to do.

“Hmm… audiences and fighters, right?” he said, realizing that in order to activate the combat projection, it was necessary to choose who would be the audience and who would be the fighter.

Besides Esma and Sierra, whom Idan identified as fighters, he assigned the rest as audiences. Then he chose the first arena he could find.

The space distorted, and the surroundings began to change again. Soon, everyone discovered that they were in a large spectator stand, with a vast arena spread out in front of them, resembling a ruined city.

Idan and Arabel, like the others, appeared on the spectator stand. However, Sierra and Esma were not visible among them, they appeared with some delay at opposite ends of the arena, opposite each other.

In addition to the arena itself, two large screens appeared on top in front of the audience, each of which showed one of the two fighters.

“These are their avatars, right?” Arabel asked Idan.

“Yes, that’s right,” Idan confirmed, who also noticed that it wasn’t the real bodies of Serra and Esma that appeared in the arena, but their avatars.

“It feels weird,” — Sierra whispered, clasping her hands. She couldn’t distinguish reality from the so-called virtual world.

Looking around, she saw ruined buildings and a lot of strange technology.

On the other side, Esma was also a little confused. She discovered that the bond that had existed since the signing of the contract with Arabel had disappeared. She couldn’t feel her presence or even communicate with her.

However, Esma did not stay in this state for long. Soon, a wide smile appeared on her face, and her eyes were alight with anticipation.

She believed the words of her younger sister Arabel and Idan. Therefore, she quickly accepted that she was not in her real body right now, but in a so-called avatar.

“Ah-ha-ha-ha,” — Esma burst out laughing.

A close-up of her laughter appeared on the screen in front of everyone.

The audience, seeing her insane laughter, was surprised by her new side, which she had never shown to anyone before.

Meanwhile, Sierra, who is on the other side, also realized that this is not her real body, but only an avatar. And, like Esma, a smile lit up on her face.

Four majestic wings appeared at the same time behind the backs of both Valkyries. Esma now has massive sea-green wings to match her hair. And behind Sierra, four dark wings appeared, like a clot of night.

“How beautiful,” Ina whispered, amazed by this sight, which she saw for the first time.

“Uh-huh,” — Laura agreed, also admiring the beauty of the two older Valkyries.

Sierra wasn’t surprised to see that she now had four wings instead of six. “It’s even more interesting this way,” she said, and with a flap of her wings, she soared into the sky.

Rising into the sky, she saw the huge arena of the ruined city.

Suddenly, her gaze caught on a figure soaring into the sky, and she recognized Esma.

Esma also noticed Sierra in the sky.

The two Valkyries stared at each other.

They had known each other for a long time. Esma even kept the memories of her real body, and so she had known Sierra since she was very young.

Esmari, Esma’s real body, was older than Sierra and had a lot of experience, but like Esma herself, she was somewhat strange and did not often participate in battles.

Esma and Sierra had never really fought each other. Sierra has memories of Esmari making fun of her several times when she was very young.

Sierra had always treated the older Valkyries with respect, but due to Esmarie’s ridicule and unusual behavior, she did not feel the same respect for her.

That’s why, when she found out that Esma wasn’t the real Esmari, she dared to spank her the first time they met, in order to take a little revenge for past grudges.

Now, standing in front of each other and realizing that these were not their real bodies, and that their rank was almost the same, their eyes burned with impatience. They both wanted to know which one was stronger.
