The regent had plotted against Gu Xijiu for a long time now. He ordered his son to kidnap her when she was alone, then accused her of killing the Devil King.

At that time, Di Fuyi did not say anything else, which made it seem that he also agreed to his statement. Nevertheless, he said that he would find Gu Xijiu first. As long as it could be proven that Gu Xijiu murdered the Devil King, he would not be selfish about the matter and would settle her personally.

Because of Di Fuyi’s objective approach to the situation, the regent was relieved. He even pretended to accompany Di Fuyi to look for Gu Xijiu.

Since Di Fuyi was a very capable man, in two days, his investigations led him to the Soulless River, and he concluded that Gu Xijiu was in the depths of the river. Although Soulless River was a raging river, it was also a sacred river in the eyes of the devils. Therefore, no one was allowed to approach this place.

There were only two kinds of people who could go close. One was the warriors of the devils. To prove one’s heroism, he needed to wash his hands by the river. If he were not pulled in by the evil spirit inside, he was declared to be a true hero recognized by the Devil God and would be respected by the people. Otherwise, he would die a quick death without a bone left of him. The second was when they needed to sacrifice the living. It was a sacrifice to the devil spirits. Other than that, no one was allowed to enter the river. Doing so would be disrespectful to the entire devil world, and the people involved would be captured.

Because of the need to search the place, Di Fuyi naturally caused dissatisfaction among the majority of the devils, and everyone flocked to stop him. The two sides were arguing. Although Di Fuyi was in a hurry, he also understood that he could not fight too hard, or he would offend the whole devil world, and he might not be able to go down the river with peace of mind.

Thus, he made a bet with the regent that if he could not find Gu Xijiu below the river, he would immediately leave the devil world and ensured that he would not intervene in the devil world’s affairs in his lifetime.

This condition made the regent extremely tempted to agree, but he also understood that Gu Xijiu was in the river. If Di Fuyi were allowed to search the place, the regent was certain that he would find her. Therefore, he still looked for various reasons to stop him.

The problem with the plan was that the ministers under the regent’s command did not know the inside story and felt that this was an excellent opportunity to drive Di Fuyi away, so they asked the regent to agree. If the regent king did not agree, he would probably lose the trust of his people and would also appear to be guilty.

At that moment, the principal disciple of the God of Creation, Fan Qianshi, came with his servant. His identity was noble enough, and he volunteered to be the middleman to settle the dispute. Di Fuyi promised that if he found Gu Xijiu here, he would not flee. Furthermore, if she truly killed the Devil King, he would give justice to the devil world.

The commotion caused many people to gather on the river bank, and in the end, Di Fuyi was right; Gu Xijiu was indeed below the river. Meng Wuya’s presence came as a bonus to them.

Obviously, Meng Wuya was with Gu Xijiu. This made Gu Xijiu’s claim of being kidnapped seem more believable. Additionally, the people were naturally more convinced by what Di Fuyi said. Not to mention the fact that he had proof right in his hands, so his credibility was even higher.

Many eyes fell on the regent now, waiting for an explanation. The man’s facial expression looked calm like water. He understood that public opinion was not favorable to him, but he was not rattled one bit. He was fully prepared.

After all, this devil world was his territory. Even if Di Fuyi were capable, he would not act against the whole devil world! He looked at Di Fuyi and began to make his case, “National Master Di, you are not from the devil world, but you always intervene in our affairs. You must have your own intention. Your ambition is to control the devil world, right?! Or, perhaps, your dreams are bigger, and you want to control the six realms and be the master of these six realms!”
