Smart enough, the princess knew what to do. “All right, I shall wait,” she answered.

With a leap, she landed safely on the back of her celestial crane. It waved its gigantic wings and soared up high into the sky.

The troops resumed their journey while the soldiers continued to wave the flags amidst the cheering crowds. The people of the Devil Kingdom surrounded the streets in exuberance.

They stayed until the carriage departed far enough before they dispersed and returned to their normal routines. The excitement of witnessing the king was enough to fuel their energy for the rest of their day.

Gu Xijiu, along with everyone else, returned to their seats. After the hustle and bustle, people started to engage in lively conversations, all but the same topic – the Devil King.

They talked about his tactics of trying to bring the divided lands into one, about his policy of benevolence and certainly about the young princess. Someone added, “It has been a great misunderstanding. The young princess is not actually the Devil King’s sister, but his foster sister.”

“Haha. Understood. I have heard about it, too. The Devil King has been so nice to her; perhaps, she will be the Devil Queen someday.”

“She could be. Only the young and graceful princess can be a match to the Devil King.”

“What do you think? Will the Devil King propose to the princess on her birthday tomorrow?”

“It is hard to tell. After all, they are both single. Also, they are very close.”

The discussion continued.

“Xuyue! Xuyue!” Luo Zheng kept mentioning Gu Xijiu’s name in a panic.

Ever since they returned from the streets, she had been lost in thought. She did not pay attention while eating and kept poking the food with her chopsticks instead. The prawn was now minced meat on her plate, but she did not notice.

The Silver Wolf bit and pulled her dress to draw her attention.

“Hmm?” She frowned in confusion.

“Xuyue, you have been caught in a daze. What’s with you?” Luo Zheng was concerned.

Gu Xijiu shook her head to dismiss his concern. “I was shocked by the greatness of the Devil King,” she lied.

Relieved, Luo Zheng smiled. “Not many can resist the Devil King’s charm. It is said that at least half of the women in this city adore him. He is really a strong man with amazing Kung Fu and great capability. Moreover, he is very handsome.”

He started to describe the Devil King, now that they had started talking about him. “If only our ruler in the mortal world could be as great as him.” He sighed.

To his surprise, Gu Xijiu suddenly took off her backpack and handed it over to Luo Zheng. “Help me look after the baby,” she said.

Luo Zheng was obviously taken by surprise. “Ah?”

“I need to run some errands. I will be back soon, so please help me look after them.”

Gu Xijiu turned and left swiftly.

“Eh?” He took the baby in his arms. Before he knew it, Gu Xijiu was already long gone.

Luo Zheng took a look at the baby in the backpack, then at the Silver Wolf that was busy licking the remains on its plate. With a sigh, he shook his head in disapproval.

Perhaps she needed to relieve herself in the washroom. Surely, he did not expect that she would be gone for an hour. He had been waiting for her, but she never came back.

An hour was far too long for relief in the washroom. Did something happen to the lady? He wondered.

Although the Devil Kingdom had been quite peaceful for the past couple of months, it was still not entirely safe for a lady to travel alone. After all, there were still many devil beings lingering along the streets.

He waited but grew more and more anxious. Then, he carried the baby in his arm and walked the Silver Wolf to the washroom. He dared not venture into the ladies’ private washroom, so he had to ask a lady to help him. It as certainly embarrassing for the man. Briefly, he told the lady how Gu Xijiu looked.
