Venerated Venomous Consort

How should Gu Xijiu even classify their relationship? Was it between a granny and her grandson? Her hands turned icy cold at the thought of it. She could not believe that she would get herself engaged with a child who was only seven years old. She pinched her palm to remind herself to calm down.

Unfortunately, there was no way she could stay calm. In fact, she found it a little difficult for her to even breathe. Her heart sank, as if to the depths of an abyss. She quickly closed her eyes and took a deep breath to try to think. “You seem to know Prince Nianmo quite well. Does he have another identity? Has anyone ever called him ‘Celestial Master Zuo’ or any other name?”

Yun Yanli was unsure about the answer. “I have never heard of it. I only know that he used to address himself as Di Fuyi whenever he was out in the world. However, the rank of Celestial Master Zuo is nonexistent in the Upper Bound; perhaps, it only exists in the mortal world.”

A tiny rock was shattered in Gu Xijiu’s tight grip; a sharp corner of the rock had cut her hand in the process, and blood was oozing out from the wound. The bloody scene surprised Yun Yanli. “What is wrong?”

Gu Xijiu dismissed his concern and threw away the pieces. “I am fine.” Utterly confused, Gu Xijiu chose to take Yun Yanli’s words with caution. In fact, she did not quite believe what he said at that point. After all, the two had just met.

The man seemed genuinely concerned about her, but she still could not tell if he was someone to be trusted. What if he made it all up just to trick her?

Yun Yanli tried to hold her hand to comfort her, but she intuitively avoided his hand. Hesitantly, Yun Yanli looked at her in bewilderment. “Xijiu, don’t you trust me?”

Gu Xijiu hesitated but chose not to lie. “You are right.”

Yun Yanli was not expecting her honestly. Surprised, he gave her a tight smile. “That is alright. I know that you have lost all memory of your past, so it is normal that you do not remember what happened between us. When we finally meet Prince Nianmo, all three of us can confront each other face to face. Then, you will know that all that I have told you is true.”

Gu Xijiu pursed her lips into a tight line in disbelief. The more she treated her wound, the more uneasy she became. Yun Yanli was unfazed by the matter for he knew that he was telling her the truth. Instead of keeping the conversation going, it was best that he waited until they met up with Di Fuyi.

Yun Yanli rose. “Let’s go.”

Gu Xijiu did not quite understand. “Go?”

“Haven’t you said that you are looking for him? I will go with you. Do you have any of his possessions with you?”

“Yes!” Gu Xijiu showed him a headband that Di Fuyi used to wear.

Di Fuyi left the band on her bed yesterday. After that, they went to sleep in separate bedrooms, so she decided to keep it for him temporarily. She was not expecting the item to be useful at that moment.

There was a faint scent of his on the headband, something that smelled somewhat herbal and flowery at the same time. Yun Yanli immediately pricked his finger with a needle and drew an incantation by using his blood. Slowly, the drawings overlapped to form the shape of a butterfly. With a flick, he turned the drawing into a real butterfly.

It flipped its wings and rose into the air. Then, it made its way to the band. After a brief moment, the butterfly went freely and circled the air. Then, it started flying in a specific direction. In fact, it was flying towards the city.

Gu Xijiu was surprised. Could he be in the city already? Had he made it back so soon? It had only been a day since he left. Why didn’t he answer his directed audio spell? She followed the bloody red butterfly and tried to contact him via the directed audio spell again. He did not answer, as usual.
