Who Says I’m Not a Legitimate Adventurer?

The morning sunlight pierced through the thin mist above the residential area of Graystone Town.

The bakeries lining the streets released a rich aroma of wheat.

Amid this peaceful and tranquil atmosphere, however, a completely different contrast unfolded at a wooden table in an open-air restaurant on the street corner.

Cecilia sat upright in her chair.

She held a thick spellbook in her hands, with an open parchment notebook placed beside her.

The quill made soft scratching sounds across the paper.

This was the daily life of a top student from Violet Academy—whenever she had free time, she was almost constantly studying.

In contrast, Lance’s current state could only be described as drenched in sweat.

In his mind, he had already cursed that old man Necros eight hundred times.

He seriously suspected that the old guy’s memory had declined with age—when handing over the commission, he hadn’t mentioned at all that internship mentors were required to write reports! If Cecilia hadn’t casually brought it up this morning—that her academy’s supervising instructor hadn’t received her periodic evaluation—Lance wouldn’t even have known such a strict requirement existed.

Every five days, the internship mentor had to submit a detailed observation report to evaluate the intern’s performance.

If it wasn’t submitted on time, all of Cecilia’s achievements and evaluations over the past five days would be voided.

Today just happened to be the final deadline—waiting until tonight to make it up would be far too late.

So he could only seize this brief window before taking on commissions in the morning, sitting by the street and frantically catching up on his “homework.”

Just as Lance was writing with a troubled expression, Cecilia stood up and walked into the drink shop beside them.

By the time the girl returned, Lance finally let out a long breath of relief, put down his quill, and stretched forcefully.

“Senior, here.”

A cup of chilled fruit juice, emitting a faint cold mist, was handed to Lance.

Cecilia stood by the table, her eyes curved into a smile as she looked at him.

Perhaps because Lance had once casually taught her that friends should know how to share food—

Over the past few days, he had frequently received all kinds of “offerings” from this half-elf girl.

Naturally, Lance didn’t stand on ceremony. He reached out and took the cup directly, smiling as he said thanks.

Hearing his gratitude, Cecilia instinctively raised her hand and gently scratched her pointed ear—as if a faint current had just passed through it—before obediently sitting back down.

Watching the girl across from him carefully fold the freshly completed internship mentor report and tuck it into her old canvas bag—

Lance bit down on the straw, his thoughts gradually becoming active.

He had been pondering something since last night.

Today was the perfect opportunity to test just how broad the Codex system’s definition of “defeating” a target really was.

Lance set down his cup and subtly slipped his right hand into his pocket, pulling out a cool silver coin.

“Cecilia.”

Lance suddenly called out to her.

“Hm? What is it, Senior?”

Hearing that uniquely magnetic voice, Cecilia’s pointed ears twitched reflexively.

She immediately stopped packing her bag, placed her hands neatly on her knees, and sat upright.

“Let’s play a simple game.”

Without further explanation, Lance tossed the coin high into the air.

The coin spun under the sunlight, reflecting dazzling flashes of light.

Then, Lance suddenly clapped his hands together mid-air, trapping the falling coin in one of his palms before separating them.

He extended both clenched fists in front of the girl, a look of anticipation gleaming in his eyes.

“Guess which hand the coin is in.”

“If you guess right, I’ll treat you to the best grilled steak in town tonight.”

“But if you guess wrong, all the dirty work of processing monster materials this afternoon will be yours alone.”

Faced with this sudden childish game, Cecilia was clearly taken aback.

But when she saw the anticipation in Lance’s eyes, the corners of her lips couldn’t help but lift.

A usually steady and reliable senior could also have such a childish side.

She didn’t find it boring—instead, she found this contrast rather endearing.

“I guess the right hand!”

Without much thought, the girl decisively pointed to Lance’s right fist.

Hearing this answer, Lance smiled happily.

“Unfortunately.”

He slowly opened his right hand—his wide palm was completely empty.

Then he gradually opened his left hand, revealing the silver coin lying quietly along the lines of his palm.

At the exact moment the truth was revealed, the long-awaited blue interface finally appeared on his retina.

【You have won in a rule-based contest against a recognized character. Entry recorded in Codex.】

【Recorded Organization: Violet Academy and Rosenthal Family (Large Extraordinary Factions)】

【Recorded Individual: Cecilia Rosenthal】

Success!

Lance clenched his fist excitedly in his heart.

As expected, the system’s judgment conditions were far broader than he had initially imagined.

It made perfect sense.

After all, this system of his originated from an extremely unserious game.

How could such a mischievous design restrict victory conditions to only physical combat?

Diverse interaction mechanics were the true essence.

Cecilia looked at the uncontrollable joy on Lance’s face and couldn’t help but smile along with him.

But she quickly realized she was the loser.

She immediately withdrew her smile, putting on a regretful and pitiful expression.

“Alright then, I’ll handle packing the monster materials this afternoon.”

Lance was in an excellent mood.

He picked up the drink Cecilia had just handed him and took a big gulp.

The cold liquid slid down his throat with a rich sweetness—its taste was excellent, just like his current mood.

Out of habit, he subconsciously opened Cecilia’s panel in the Codex in his mind.

His gaze immediately moved downward, locking onto the “Secret” section.

However—

The moment his eyes scanned the first line of blue text—

He froze.

【Cecilia’s Secret I: Recently, she has been suffering from abnormal physical symptoms. Whenever she hears Senior’s voice or comes into physical contact with him, her body uncontrollably heats up, and her skin retains a lingering tingling sensation that is difficult to dissipate.】

【In order to prevent Senior from feeling inferior or guilty because of her strange talent, this kind girl has decided to grit her teeth and endure this physiological torment alone.】

【She suppresses her impulses every day, vowing not to show any discomfort in front of Senior. However, what confuses her is that the sensitivity of her skin seems to have eased recently—she suspects her body may be gradually adapting.】
