Judging by this guy’s usual style, even if he stole the spotlight this time, he definitely wouldn’t take on extermination missions that required charging straight into hordes of monsters afterward.

He would most likely shrink back again and continue taking those inconspicuous gathering commissions.

And those jobs were the dirtiest, most exhausting, and most overlooked tasks of all.

Crawling through bushes, digging through muddy swamps, identifying monster droppings.

It was practically a match made in heaven.

Perfect for letting his old friend’s precious disciple truly experience what life was like for bottom-tier Adventurers.

“Let’s throw this delicate violet into the mud and see what happens.”

A mischievous smile curled at the corner of Necros’s lips.

He would let this Raven thoroughly stain that young lady’s pristine white skirt.

He could hardly wait to see what kind of expression his old friend would make when, at the end of the internship, he saw his once-pristine disciple turned dusty and disheveled.“Hahahahahaha!”

Laughter echoed through the office in the early hours of the morning.

The old man picked up his feather pen and, on the internship list, solemnly wrote the name of the independent Adventurer Raven next to Cecilia’s name.

Now, he only needed to wait for that Adventurer to come accept a mission next time, and then invite him over for a proper talk.

……

That night, Lance slept deeply and even had a bizarre, dreamlike vision.

In the dream, he was no longer a Scribe at a small-town guild, but a renowned legendary Adventurer.

His footsteps had traversed every corner of this world.

At his side were companions of striking beauty, each with her own distinct personality.

There was a cute Catfolk girl, with a pair of fluffy ears and a long tail that swayed nimbly.

Her unique vertical pupils shifted in color with changes in light, and when she smiled, the two small fangs she revealed were both adorable and slightly prickly.

There was also a cool and aloof snow maiden.

She had long silver-white hair tinged faintly with icy blue, and she always gazed at him with those gentle teal-blue eyes.

Just as the two non-human beauties began to argue over who should stand closest to him—

Lance suddenly felt a chill run down his back.

Turning around, he saw a girl with long white hair standing behind him, head lowered.

Her face could not be seen. All he could see was the staff in her hand, its cold tip pressed firmly against his lower back.

“Go… die… scum…”

“Hiss!”

Lance sucked in a sharp breath and shot upright from the bed.

The soreness in his lower back was painfully clear.

He turned his head and saw the culprit lying quietly on the bedsheet.

It was that brick-thick 《Basic Guide to Class Advancement for Professionals》.

He had read too late last night, and it must have slipped off the desk, landing squarely against his waist.

“What kind of ridiculous dream was that…”

Lance rubbed his aching back and muttered helplessly.

As expected of a dream—his real self would never be so easily caught off guard.

After a quick wash, Lance looked at his refreshed reflection in the mirror and spat out the foam in his mouth.

Today, he had two clear plans.

First, to find Flora and confirm the situation with the Hemostatic Ointment.

If the sales channel for the potion was viable, then he would prepare to submit his resignation at the Adventurers’ Guild.

Back when he had applied for the Scribe position, it had purely been to make a living while he was still weak, and to seek the guild’s protection.

Now that he had gained the means to protect himself, and if the potion business could bring in a stable cash flow, that clerical job would become somewhat dispensable.

He had never been the type to stay in the beginner village grinding to max level before venturing out.

He preferred to experience a vivid life full of unknowns.

Otherwise, he wouldn’t have set the grand goal of visiting the prosperous Ostera when he first arrived in this world.

Of course, all of this had to be under the premise of ensuring his own safety.

As his horizons broadened, the mysterious world of Professionals had already revealed a corner of its veil before him.

When his strength was sufficient one day, he truly wanted to personally measure the vastness of this world.

Perhaps even achieve something like in that dream…

He was getting carried away.

Lance shook his head, changed into a comfortable outfit, and pushed the door open.

Before heading to the apothecary, he deliberately made a detour to the most famous pastry shop in town.

By the time he arrived at Movenna’s Apothecary, nearly two hours had already passed.

The desserts he bought today were all freshly made and limited in quantity.

Competing with a group of town girls for sweets was far too difficult.

No matter which world it was, sweets always drove girls crazy.

Movenna’s Apothecary was located on the east side of town.

Above the entrance hung an oak signboard suspended by thick iron chains, swaying gently in the morning breeze.

On the display window beside the door hung two small blackboards.

Written in neat, elegant handwriting—clearly Flora’s—were promotional messages.

One read: [Adventurer Special Insect Repellent Powder, Buy Two Get One Free]

The other read: [New Arrival! Special Hemostatic Ointment, Comparable to Troll Blood, Only 25 Copper Coins!]

Seeing that line, Lance couldn’t help but smile.

That was the pricing strategy he had casually mentioned yesterday when he stuffed the ointment into her satchel—he hadn’t expected her to execute it so efficiently.

It seemed she had successfully convinced Aunt Movenna, at least to the point of allowing it to be displayed in the shop for trial sales.

“Jingle.”

As he pushed open the wooden door, the brass bell above rang crisply.

“Welcome!”

Behind the counter, Flora—who had been reading with her head lowered—immediately stood up reflexively, a professional sweet smile on her face.

However, the moment she recognized that the person entering was Lance—

That sweet smile instantly froze, then visibly collapsed.

Her originally fair little face puffed up like a bun, and her lips pouted high.

“Hmph.”

She let out a soft snort through her nose, plopped back into her chair, and lifted the thick book again to block her face.

Yesterday, she had been busy running around for Lance’s request, finally managing to persuade Aunt Movenna, and even waited in the shop until closing.

And what happened?

Until the shop closed that night, she didn’t see Lance at all.

Later, Aunt Movenna told her someone had seen Lance heading into a bookstore.

That guy had completely forgotten about her!

She had even deliberately saved her appetite, looking forward to the promised big meal.

Being stood up like this made the usually mild-mannered Flora extremely unhappy.

“Customer, please choose your potions yourself. They’re all on the shelves.”

Her voice came muffled from behind the book, perfunctory to the point that she didn’t even bother pretending anymore.

Watching her deliberately ignore him, Lance felt amused.

But he didn’t rush to explain. Instead, he pretended to browse the shelves, picking up a few bottles and clicking his tongue as if examining them carefully.
