Why Would an Aircraft Carrier Be Dispatched to Escort His Fishing Boat?

157: Chapter 157 Magnetic Field Chaos, Magnetic Field StormSouth of the equator. The southern waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Night had fallen. With the gathering of dark clouds, a storm was brewing, and the waves were rising higher and higher.

Yet in this darkness.

A destroyer, located sixty li away from the three aircraft carrier fleets, was swaying amidst the waves.

This was the Shengongbao destroyer.

Originally conducting training exercises in the designated waters, their radar suddenly experienced severe deviation.

They were drifting further and further away.

By the time the destroyer’s captain realized it, they had already drifted too far off course.

The communication equipment also inexplicably developed various malfunctions.

They were completely unable to contact the aircraft carrier fleet.

”Captain, the radar and communication equipment are all frozen. What should we do?” A subordinate said, covered in sweat. He had already had the technicians inspect them; the equipment had no issues, but it was just completely malfunctioning.

The radio signals being sent out were also scrambled.

The captain gazed at the towering black waves outside, his unease growing by the minute.

”It seems the magnetic field has become chaotic.”

Boom! No sooner had he finished speaking than a massive wave crashed over them.

Although the Shengongbao destroyer was massive, in the embrace of nature, it still appeared somewhat delicate, and the hull shook violently.

”Husband, I’m going to go find the missing destroyer first. You wait for me for a moment.”

After Jiang Chen received the radio message from Xue Yao, he felt a bit worried.

He drove the small fishing boat directly to catch up with the located Xuan Nu.

Xue Yao was currently on the Xuan Nu, flying at double the speed of sound.

She was startled when she suddenly saw a small fishing boat appear on her right.

”Husband, how is your small fishing boat so fast?”

Just as she finished speaking, in the darkness, she vaguely saw the small fishing boat seemingly being pulled by something, though it wasn’t very clear.

Jiang Chen smiled: ”Be careful. I saw crows; there might be danger here.”

Jiang Chen recounted the incident where the Dragon Soul lost its way in the North Pacific.

Xue Yao nodded quickly.

Commander Tang Ze had previously issued an announcement about the magnetic field chaos, but she was still at Penglai Port at the time and hadn’t paid much attention to it.

But now that she had arrived in the Pacific Ocean and a destroyer had gone missing, she naturally had to be cautious.

Even though she was the Mother of Lightning, she was still somewhat outmatched when facing such a violent natural disaster.

”Husband, you shouldn’t follow us. You should go back first,” Xue Yao said.

Jiang Chen: ”No, didn’t you apply for the small fishing boat to escort you earlier? I am escorting you right now.”

Although she was still a bit worried, Xue Yao felt sweet inside. She said, ”Okay! Let’s keep in radio contact!”

After saying this, the Xuan Nu accelerated and arrived at the waters where the Shengongbao had disappeared.

The remaining assault boats, JF-17 Thunder fighter jet, Shenglong Early Warning Aircraft, destroyers, and even nuclear submarines had also arrived in the nearby waters and began their search.

They repeatedly broadcasted radio signals in the vicinity.

”Shengongbao destroyer, this is Xuan Nu 1, please respond if you receive this!”

”Shengongbao destroyer, this is Shenglong Early Warning Aircraft 3, please respond if you receive this!”

A large number of radio signals were sent out, time and time again, but these signals were like mud sinking into the sea, quickly disappearing over the ocean.

After half an hour of searching, it was nearly eleven o’clock at night. Everyone was without a target, and just then—

Dozens of shells launched into the sky, illuminating the night. Everyone was overjoyed; it seemed to be the distress signal from the Shengongbao.

Xue Yao’s eyes lit up, and she was about to head over. Suddenly!

The radar showed violent fluctuations. The communicator also started emitting severe static from electromagnetic interference.

”Attention everyone! Do not move forward! Send a signal to the Shengongbao destroyer, tell it to escape that area immediately!”

Xue Yao piloted the Xuan Nu and dove down. She saw the Shengongbao destroyer bobbing in the waves below.

However, it seemed unable to find its direction and was in a stalled state.

Following the light signals from the numerous destroyers and fighter jets, the Shengongbao destroyer finally showed signs of movement and began accelerating toward the direction of the lights.

However, just then, a bolt of lightning flashed. Jiang Chen suddenly saw, behind the Shengongbao, a wave shaped like a great mountain, a thousand meters high, surging toward them.

”A mountain wave is coming! Everyone retreat!” Xue Yao sent out an emergency signal.

As a result, in the next second, the Shengongbao destroyer capsized instantly under the mountain wave.

Xue Yao’s heart turned cold; she knew there was nothing that could be done.

At the same time, behind the mountain wave, a magnetic storm with a range of a hundred kilometers was swirling toward them.

Wherever it passed, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled, kicking up monstrous waves and sweeping all objects in the vicinity into the storm.

”Return to base! Everyone return to base!”

Seeing on the radar that the magnetic field was becoming increasingly chaotic, Xue Yao quickly piloted the Xuan Nu to turn back. The fighter jets, destroyers, and the Xuan Nu all turned around.

However, the magnetic storm was extremely fast. Its range was growing larger and larger, as if it wanted to sweep everything into it.

”Report, Commander, this is the Jiang Ziya destroyer. Our ship’s propulsion system has failed, we cannot move forward... static!”

[...] The storm was extremely fast, and another destroyer fell into crisis.

But Xue Yao had no time to turn back, commanding everyone to accelerate and evacuate the area.

But the speed of this magnetic storm was actually supersonic. More and more fighter jets were swept into it.

Even Xue Yao’s Xuan Nu was affected by a massive magnetic force, causing its propulsion system to suddenly slow down.

At this moment, Jiang Chen also sensed the danger. His small fishing boat not only had the Kuafu Chasing the Sun Propulsion System but was also being pulled by Horse Terracotta Warriors at twenty times the speed of sound, so the magnetic storm couldn’t catch up.

But just then, he saw Xue Yao’s Xuan Nu begin to slow down, and his heart skipped a beat.

He hurriedly sent a radio message to Xue Yao: ”My dear, is your fighter jet okay!”

Seeing that Jiang Chen had actually turned back, Xue Yao urged him: ”You leave quickly, I’ll follow right behind!”

As she spoke, the Xuan Nu 1 slowed down again, while the center of the magnetic storm drew closer and closer.

Jiang Chen saw that the situation was bad. He immediately took out the Tiger Tally and issued an order: ”Detach five Horse Terracotta Warriors to pull Xuan Nu 1!” ”Hurry!!!”

Ren Xiao and the other terracotta soldiers hesitated for a moment, as if they were thinking.

”You are the inheritor of the AllSpark Project; we must protect you.”

Jiang Chen shouted: ”Five Horse Terracotta Warriors are enough, go pull Xuan Nu 1 quickly!”

In the end, five Horse Terracotta Warriors detached from the small fishing boat.

They released high-energy particle beams, latched onto Xuan Nu 1, and pulled her out of the magnetic storm.

”What is this thing?”

It wasn’t until the Horse Terracotta Warriors approached, released the high-energy particle beams, and latched onto the Xuan Nu, causing it to accelerate, that Xue Yao saw there were actually a few Horse Terracotta Warriors pulling her in the lightning-flickering night sky.

Whoosh. Xuan Nu 1 successfully escaped danger.

”That was close!” Seeing the Xuan Nu accelerate again, Jiang Chen let out a sigh of relief.

The center of the magnetic storm suddenly released a massive suction force that landed in the airspace where the small fishing boat was retreating.

The high-energy particle beam released by one Horse Terracotta Warrior was instantly torn into two segments.

By the time the Horse Terracotta Warrior released another high-energy particle beam, wanting to pull the small fishing boat, the fishing boat was pulled by the magnetic storm, causing it to capsize and plummet violently downwards.

”Damn it!”

The sudden magnetic pull made Jiang Chen dizzy and disoriented.

By the time he reacted, he had already crashed into the waves and was instantly swallowed up by the seawater.

”Husband!!!” Seeing the small fishing boat suddenly disappear from the radar, Xue Yao let out a scream, her eyes turning bloodshot!

She wanted to turn back, but the five Horse Terracotta Warriors forcibly pulled her away, escaping the magnetic storm.
