Chapter 1013: Chapter 1012: Using the Sword to Reason, A Contest

The Divine Mirror Island hosts a Divine Appraiser convention once every decade.

Each time, it attracts a large number of Divine Appraisers from the Celestial Burial Sea.

Ye Chen and Sikong Zhaixing arrived together at a vast square, where tables and chairs covered the ground and various delicacies and Spirit Wine were neatly arranged.

”Isle Master Sikong, are there any Celestial-tier Divine Appraisers present today?” Ye Chen asked.

Sikong Zhaixing sighed deeply and said, ”In the glorious days of Divine Mirror Island, every convention had Celestial-tier Divine Appraisers present, but...”

The words were left unsaid.

Ye Chen understood.

Divine Mirror Island had declined, and so the Celestial-tier Divine Appraisers disdain attending the convention!

”Isle Master Sikong, don’t be disheartened. Divine Mirror Island has made the right choice and will surely rise again!” Ye Chen said.

Ye Chen was well aware of his current situation; representing the two Great Emperors, Celestial Blade and Celestial Cauldron, he was a faction within the Celestial Burial Sea’s conflict, thus he had enough confidence to speak these words.

Sikong Zhaixing’s lips revealed a bitter smile, then he said, ”Young Master Ye, your seat has been arranged, please take a seat.”

Sikong Zhaixing arranged Ye Chen’s seating in the row closest to him, the Island Master.

Those who sat in this row were all well-reputed and experienced individuals.

At the very least, they were Earth-tier Divine Appraisers!

After Ye Chen took his seat, numerous eyes focused on him.

A few days ago, the events on Divine Mirror Island had already been widely talked about.

Ye Chen almost killed Celestial Master Mingkong, one of the five Celestial-tier Divine Appraisers in the Celestial Burial Sea—this was a major affair!

Plus, Ye Chen seemed to have a great relationship with Celestial Blade Emperor and Celestial Cauldron Emperor, so even if the majority had opinions about Ye Chen sitting in the first row, they dared not speak.

However...

A small number of Divine Appraisers nonetheless had differing thoughts.

Ye Chen had significant feuds with the Ten Thousand Islands Sect and the Celestial Child Divine Island.

The Ten Thousand Islands Sect has two Great Emperors and one Celestial-tier Divine Appraiser.

The Celestial Child Divine Island has one Great Emperor and one Celestial-tier Divine Appraiser.

Backing Ye Chen are one Great Emperor from the Martial Alliance and one from the Flesh Alliance.

Besides, Warrior Alliance’s Celestial Blade Emperor is already old and nearing the end of his days.

Compared between the two, it’s easy to judge which side holds more advantage.

A short-bearded elder seated in the second row stood up and said, ”Isle Master Sikong, do you remember me?”

Seated on the main chair, Sikong Zhaixing looked at the elder and smiled while nodding, ”Master Sun Qi of the Point Source Appraisal, how could I not remember.”

The elder named Sun Qi sneered and said, ”So Isle Master Sikong remembers, but I don’t understand, why am I relegated to the second row? Does Isle Master Sikong see me as inferior to a young newcomer?”

Sitting in his seat, Ye Chen subtly tasted his Spirit Wine as if not hearing Sun Qi’s pointed words targeting him.

Let’s see how it unfolds.

Sikong Zhaixing’s expression remained calm, and he said mildly, ”Master Sun, at the Divine Appraiser convention, we explore the path of the Divine Appraiser together, why worry so much about other matters.”

Sun Qi sneered and said, ”Isle Master Sikong placed Ye Chen in the first row due to the Celestial Blade Emperor of the Martial Alliance and Celestial Cauldron Emperor of the Flesh Alliance.

As we all know, reputation is paramount for us Divine Appraisers.

As an elder in the Earth-tier Divine Appraisers, being stepped on to favor Ye Chen, I cannot stomach this insult!”

Sikong Zhaixing frowned slightly and said, ”Someone, bring on an extra seat in the first row for Master Sun.”

Sun Qi snorted and said, ”Isle Master Sikong, is playing ignorant. Do you think I’m someone who chases empty fame? I just feel Ye Chen doesn’t deserve to be in the first row—his presence there tarnishes the status of all the Divine Masters seated there!”

Sikong Zhaixing’s expression fell completely, ”Master Sun, you are being excessive.”

Sun Qi appeared brazen and said, ”I believe I’m not alone in this thought; others must feel similarly.”

At these words, an elderly woman seated in the first row immediately responded, ”Master Sun speaks forthrightly, but he does speak truthfully—a Divine Appraiser should remain within the realm of Divine Appraisal, it has nothing to do with Martial Dao, Flesh Dao, or Spirit Dao, nor with background or status.

If a Divine Appraiser’s level is insufficient, then they have no right to be seated in the first row of this convention. Isle Master Sikong’s arrangement this time is irrational, truly disheartening to us all.”

”Can Isle Master Sikong add a seat in the first row, let alone ten or a hundred? The issue is Ye Chen’s lack of qualification to sit there, not where our seats are positioned!”

All of the pointed criticisms were blatantly directed at Ye Chen.

Ye Chen tasted the Spirit Wine once more, then set down the exquisitely crafted white jade cup and stood up, ”I’m leaving.”

”You have some self-awareness. Then hurry off!” The elder Sun Qi shouted gleefully.

Ye Chen said calmly, ”If I leave, who among you qualifies to sit in the first row?!”

This statement set off an uproar.

”What an ignorant, arrogant youth, oblivious to limits!” Sun Qi’s voice hollered prominently.

Ye Chen faced the elder known as Sun Qi and spoke, ”Do you know why I sit in the first row and you in the second?”

Sun Qi sneered, ”I naturally know...”

Before he could finish, Ye Chen interrupted, ”You know nothing!

Old this, old that, calling yourself old all day—I see you as decayed wood, rotten to the core, instead of lying low waiting for death, you come out to humiliate yourself, aren’t you ashamed?

Let me tell you.

You’re in the second row because you’re terrible!

I’m in the first row because I’m stronger than you!”

After being scolded by Ye Chen, Sun Qi’s complexion darkened with anger, pointing his finger at Ye Chen, ”You... you...”

”Shlank!”

Ye Chen abruptly drew his sword and slashed, instantly enveloping Sun Qi in a brilliant sword light.

Once the sword light dissipated, Sun Qi was no more.

A person as an Earth-tier Divine Appraiser had some reputation.

Yet Ye Chen, under everyone’s watch, slashed him into dust!

Ye Chen sheathed his sword and said indifferently, ”Originally wanted to speak logically, but found it’s easier to speak with the sword.”

The whole place remained silent for a moment, followed by calls of anger and censure.

”Ye Chen, how dare you act during the Divine Appraiser convention. From now on, you are the public enemy of all Divine Appraisers in the Celestial Burial Sea!”

The elderly woman who had first echoed Sun Qi shouted sharply.

Ye Chen looked at her and said, ”Aren’t you all aware of my audacity? I’m not even afraid of Great Emperors, would I fear you?

A public enemy of all Divine Appraisers in the Celestial Burial Sea?

Who can you represent?

Today, I give Divine Mirror Island face, not wanting to act again, but if you persist with your noise, I don’t mind gifting you a sword.”

Old woman: ”Ye Chen, you’re too ruthless...”

Ye Chen drew his sword again, pointing it at the elderly woman, ”Go on.”

The woman’s words stuck in her throat, not daring to utter even a single sound.

If Ye Chen strikes.

The woman thought she would not withstand it!

A Ye Chen who had intimidated the entire crowd, with a calm demeanor, said, ”If you’re unconvinced, continue speaking.”

Everyone: ”...”

The whole scene fell silent for a moment before an elder seated in the first row stood up, ”Ye Chen, blind yourself and sever an arm as compensation for killing Master Sun Qi.”

Ye Chen gazed at this elder.

A Emperor Realm being!

Ye Chen smiled faintly, ”I prefer to reason, and since this is a Divine Appraiser convention, speak as Divine Appraisers should, so in my view, you have no qualification to posture arrogantly before me.”

Elder’s expression was proud ”I’m a top-tier Earth-tier Divine Appraiser.”

Ye Chen, ”In my view, only Celestial-tier Divine Appraisers matter, so to me, you are irrelevant.”

The elder was furious.

Ye Chen said calmly, ”Isle Master Sikong, bring some divine stones, I’ll show him what a true Divine Appraiser is!”
