Martial Arts: I Have Diligence Reward System

Chapter 169: Chapter 114: Merits and Rewards

Entering the Wet Ghost Tower is not complicated.

Xu Baiyan had already sent Su Yue’s application to the Military Department three days ago, so a fingerprint scan was all it took to pass through.

Du Jing’s Book went through the inspection channel first. He couldn’t turn back to look at the identity-checking device, so he didn’t see Su Yue’s name.

Captain Wang Mingqi was second, and he couldn’t be bothered to look back either.

Liu Guoli was the third, and since he knew Su Yue’s identity, he passed through the inspection first to avoid any awkwardness, allowing Su Yue to remain incognito.

Xu Baiyan was the fourth to pass!

Su Yue was the fifth.

For the corps officers, an unsealed Martial Artist coming to the first battlefield wasn’t a novelty.

Every year, before the high school entrance exam, many students come to the Wet Ghost Tower, hiring Wuda students to assist in their training!

Because the first battlefield is relatively safe, entering it requires some conditions.

Firstly, non-military martial artists can only enter under the pretense of herb collection. Since they are there to collect herbs, they must gather a certain amount to submit to the military. If the collection is insufficient, it will be considered a debt and directly deducted from academic credits.

In this era, no one dares to take their reputation lightly.

This threshold is necessary. Otherwise, if everyone knew the first battlefield was safe, they’d all rush in for easy training advantages, creating chaos.

As a result, the collection tasks have become increasingly demanding each year.

Yet, even so, many scions of wealthy families still flock here to train.

As for Su Yue, his name was no exception.

People generally aren’t interested in the high school entrance exam. To ordinary folks, it’s just an annual test, and Su Yue didn’t cause any ripples; even the military personnel didn’t know he was a top scorer.

The five smoothly arrived at the Wet Ghost Tower.

”Recently, the first battlefield hasn’t been very peaceful; you’d best watch out for your safety!

”Firstly, it is strictly forbidden to cross the fifth zone. Before you, over a dozen low-level martial artists have disappeared, and half of them have already died. Beyond the seventh zone lies the Ning Beast’s territory. If you accidentally intrude there, you’re on your own. The Military Department won’t sacrifice themselves to rescue you, nor could they save you!

”Secondly, try not to cause large-scale destruction to the jungle. Although the wetland’s vegetation grows rapidly, don’t waste it, especially in the first and second zones!

”Finally, I hope everything goes well for you.”

Inside the Wet Ghost Tower, a lieutenant reminded the five.

Su Yue observed that quite a number of people were coming and going inside the Wet Ghost Tower. Their clothes were soaked through, but they weren’t severely injured, indicating that the first battlefield was indeed relatively peaceful.

Sure enough, after coming out, they all took a variety of oddly-shaped herbs from their backpacks!

The herbs were smeared with mud, slimy, and even had an acrid stench, reminding Su Yue of the smell of oozy grass.

Some low-level martial artists, who couldn’t collect enough herbs, looked dejected, with expressions as if they’d lost money in business.

”Guys, you’re lucky. Use these few days to gather herbs—there’s not a single alien race here.”

”What a shame we’re only allowed in once a month. Our supplies are running low; this is a rare opportunity!”

Seeing Su Yue and the others ready to enter, a martial artist who had just come out said.

”No alien disturbances?”

Wang Mingqi was surprised.

”That’s right, only the boundary between the fifth and sixth zones is a danger point!”

”The fifth battlefield bordering the first is currently locked in deadly combat with the Yangxiang Race, Four-armed Race, and Palm Eye Race. Thus, these beasts are all gathering at the fifth battleground and have no time to harass the first battlefield!

”But be cautious. The Ning Beast, usually only active in the seventh zone, might be appearing to eat people. Whatever you do, stay out of the sixth zone; it’s too dangerous!

”Damn it, the Ning Beast is the laziest of the Demon Beast Race—so long as one is outside their territory, the world could end, and they wouldn’t care. Why are they appearing in the seventh zone lately!”

The martial artist grumbled as he went to hand over his herbs.

Su Yue and Xu Baiyan exchanged glances.

The Fifth Battlefield.

This is essentially the battleground of the seven northern provinces. The last time the enemy took advantage was because the fifth battlefield was strained, forcing the Governor’s Mansion to conscript, resulting in the predicament where Li Xingpei was outmatched.

Pan Yizheng’s Miracle Corps is stationed at the fifth and seventh battlefields in the northern region.

”No wonder the first battlefield is stable; the fifth battlefield is drawing the firepower, so we’ll stay a few days longer!”

Du Jing’s Book chuckled.

This too is a rare opportunity.

...

Before coming here, Xu Baiyan had shown Su Yue the defense map of the wetland.

From the map, the first and fifth battlefields appear close to each other.

But unfortunately.

A stretch of primordial forest separates the two fortresses, inhabited by a terribly fearsome Demon Beast Race of the wetlands... the Ning Beasts!

The Ning Beast tribe has too many Beast Kings with Grandmaster-level lethality. Even the eight tribes of the wetland dare not provoke them, and the human race has lost grandmasters there before.

So although the first and fifth battlefields are close, the Zhao Qi Corps actually cannot provide reinforcement to the Miracle Corps.

To avoid the Ning Beast territory, one must make a large detour.

Meanwhile, the alien races’ fortress is right opposite the human fortifications.

They occupy the most habitable parts of the wetland, forming a piece of land that gradually became the eight tribes, or rather, eight adjacent nations.

The human defenses in the wetland resemble a Go board, littered with countless pieces, representing the fortresses breached by alien technologies in the past, now known as the Wet Ghost Tower.
