Bear School Astartes

The Demon Hunter’s advanced [Alder’s Rune] directly cleared out a large area at the entrance of the Great Cathedral.

The frenzied and violent hunters, under this indiscriminate circular shockwave, stumbled at least for a moment, even if they didn’t fall flat like the old hunter in front of Lann.

The originally chaotic and bloody scene suddenly cleared out into a momentary silent space.

But just when Lann dealt with an old hunter who was knocked to the ground by [Alder’s Rune] in an execution-like manner, a figure wearing a wide scholar’s robe suddenly rushed over from an inconspicuous corner of the Great Cathedral.

His speed was no less than any old hunter, to the point that even the scholar’s robe was filled with wind while running, the fabric made a ’whirring’ sound, brushing past Lann towards the Cathedral’s door.

Something seemed to be tightly wrapped within his scholar’s robe.

Lann initially didn’t know who this was.

After all, he had never seen this scholar, only felt familiar with the Byron Vis style scholar’s robe on him and was shocked by its appearance in the Healing Church.

The other seemed to be heading straight for the Great Cathedral’s entrance, without any hostility towards anyone.

So, quickly brushing past Lann without hostility did not trigger a reflexive response from the Demon Hunter.

But immediately after, when the gloomy man in the scholar’s robe brushed past two or three steps behind him.

”Sniff~”

The Demon Hunter’s nostrils flared, and his eyes suddenly widened!

A pungent and sticky smell, abrupt even in this already blood-soaked scene, was caught by his keen sense of smell.

This blood scent, to his nose that had never been injected with Holy Blood, was foul and repulsive.

However, to the noses of the Yan Nan People, it was absolutely intoxicatingly sweet!

This smell even felt familiar to Lann, this blood scent was...

”It’s the blood of the Ascendant! Sir!” Mentos immediately searched through Lann’s olfactory memory and quickly provided the answer. ”What he’s holding in his robe is the body of Cos Orphan!”

Since Lawrence and everyone in the Great Cathedral had gone mad due to the Blood of the Divine Son, Miklás decisively cut off and tried to escape with the upper half of the Divine Son not pinned by Lawrence’s beastly claws.

But in the suddenly chaotic Cathedral, there was Lawrence, who had already become the first clerical beast in history.

And many already mad old hunters and scholars.

Although Miklás’s skills were only average among the Yan Nan Hunters, he was ultimately a researcher, not a warrior.

Everything went utterly chaotic, and although he managed to avoid capture for a while, darting around the Great Cathedral, he had no chance to escape.

But now, this intruder had definitely cleared out a path!

As long as he could get out... as long as he could get out...!

Miklás clung tightly to the dry and sticky half-corpse inside his robe, the madness in his eyes probably not much better than the old hunters.

The Demon Hunter flicked the blade of the [Holy Moonlight Sword], causing the entwined fabric strips to flutter in the air.

Just as Lann was about to dash forward and grab the man holding his target.

But as soon as his hand extended halfway, the Demon Hunter forcefully stopped, the dragon scale armor on his boots scraped against the marble floor with a piercing sound.

Instead, he dashed deeper into the Great Cathedral!

It’s not that he didn’t want the Divine Son’s body, but because now he clearly saw there’s another bizarre half-corpse of the Divine Son lying on the stone table deeper inside the Great Cathedral!

That’s also the body of the Divine Son!

More importantly, seeing Miklás’s escape, even as Lawrence was engulfed in severe beastification, his level of madness suddenly surged!

He started rampantly smashing and punching around, flames seemingly endlessly erupting from him!

Almost about to smash near the stone table where the Divine Son’s body lay!

Letting someone run off with half the Divine Son’s body, there’s still a chance to retrieve it.

If the Divine Son’s body gets smashed or scorched by Lawrence’s claws, then it’s all too late!

Instantaneous decisions and choices, even subsequent plans, all formed instantly in Lann’s mind, assisted by Mentos, and were immediately executed.

”Thump!”

Lann’s heavy body and the force of his armor immediately pressed onto one foot, firmly stomping on the leg of a frenzied old hunter!

This old hunter staggered from the advanced [Alder’s Rune] and hadn’t quite regained his footing yet.

’Crack’ a sound, the bone broke, protruding through the hunter’s pant leg from Lann’s stomp!

For the hardness of [Smaug]’s scale armor, even these mad old hunters were too fragile.

Breaking the old hunter’s leg with one foot, while the other showed no reaction.

For those already partially beastified, injuries are entirely numbed.

But Lann didn’t need them to feel it.

”Slide~”

The old hunter with the broken leg immediately fell to the ground, and Lann’s foot pushed his body to slide across the marble floor stained with chaos and blood.

With a kick, Lann sent him to the edge of the frenzied Lawrence’s claw!

This was to attract Lawrence’s attention, so he wouldn’t damage the stone table with the Divine Son’s half-corpse on it.

Sure enough, for Lawrence, who had completely lost humanity, this worked.

”Howl!”

It let out a howl from its wolf mouth adorned with huge antlers, the claw previously raised aimlessly slammed ’boom’ down on the old hunter.

The enormous claw was enough to cover the entire body of the old hunter, like squeezing tomato paste, with a ’squelch’ blood and minced meat mixture squirting out from the beast’s finger gaps.

Then it was scorched black from high temperature.

Only buying time for one claw’s drop, but it was enough.

Lann held the hilt of the Holy Moonlight Sword in one hand, while his other hand gently caressed the sword guard, then suddenly pulled down!

Then came a soft hum of ”Wong~”!

The deep blue lunar light instantly extended from the sword guard, covering the sword blade, enlarging and growing!

Eventually forming the iconic Crystal Greatsword blade!

Deep within the blade was a complex magic seal glowing with ice-blue light.

”Swoosh swoosh!”

Just like Ludwig’s movements not long ago, two crescent-shaped blue blades separated from Lann’s sword swing.

The trailing glow reminiscent of bioluminescent creatures flew towards Lawrence!

Moonlight Sword Qi!

Compared to Moonlight Surge, it is much lighter, making the execution smoother and quicker as the moonlight blade cuts through the air.

With a dreamy, mystical hum, it struck Lawrence!

”Karara!”

”Roar!!!”

The cracking sound of brittle bones was shudder-inducing, driving Lawrence into a frenzied roar.

Two Moonlight Sword Qi, one hacked directly into Lawrence’s bare, exposed furry lumbar vertebra.

The other, due to his swaying body, struck the antlers on his head.

The antlers, overgrown to the point of deformity, spread with a sickly appearance.

Yet, they were unexpectedly fragile.

The Moonlight Sword Qi sheared his antlers into an uneven shape, one side large, the other small.

And the damage to the vertebra almost caused Lawrence to fall!

After the two Moonlight Sword Qi, Lann himself closely followed.

Though Lawrence was now ablaze, as if his body flowed with lava rather than blood.

But he was ultimately a clergy beast.

In this era, no one in Yan’an would believe that the Healing Church’s clergy would fall into beastly insanity.

After all, they possess strong faith and ample blood therapy resources.

But to Lann, this is far from his first encounter with clergy beasts.

In the ’future’ of Yan’an, at Henrik’s plea, he once hunted... the beastly transformed Mark.

Yes, according to Lann’s observations during this period, Mark was Henrik’s friend who transformed into a beast.

He is now a Church Hunter, but after the hunt destroyed Old Yan’an, he became afraid of fire, reduced to a mere ordinary clergy.

Finally, on the bridge connecting Church Town to Yan’an, during that endless night of hunting... he couldn’t hold out.

Faced with enemies he somewhat understood intimately, Lann has always had an advantage.

An overwhelming advantage!

”Crrack!”

The Demon Hunter’s footsteps were so quick and urgent, they melded with the sound of his weapon slicing through the air.

He nimbly dodged under Lawrence’s wildly swinging claw.

Meanwhile, the elegantly deep moonlight in his hand continued slashing Lawrence’s previously wounded lumbar vertebra!

With each strike, the Holy Moonlight Sword produced an ethereal, enchanting sound, accompanied by a shower of sparkles.

On Lawrence’s vertebra, a crack grew larger!

Until finally...

”Roar!!!”

Lawrence roared in agony, his upper body lunging forward, severing the connection with his lower limbs.

Lann’s blue greatsword sliced backward without looking, cleaving an elder hunter’s axe handle in half.

Mixed battles often have this issue, never allowing full focus on a single enemy.

Fortunately, Lann’s objective wasn’t any of them here.

He was merely after the corpse of Kos Orphan.

Thus, after severing the axe handle and pushing the old hunter back several steps, Lann didn’t pursue but instead prepared the Acceleration Technique to dash forward to the altar stone table!

Just as he was about to abandon unnecessary adversaries to charge at his target.

”Roar roar... Roar!!!”

From the lumbar vertebra blasted by Lann, the beast Lawrence tore off its lower half still dragging behind!

With a rip accompanied by a furious roar!

And from the wound of the upper torso beast, indeed as Lann had sensed before... it wasn’t blood flowing; it was magma!

The beast snarled and clawed wildly, slapping and scratching the ground.

And a massive amount of lava, larger than its entire body, flowed out from its wound!

No one knew how or where this magma came from.

Just like the beasts of Yan’an, inherently irrational, maddened creatures.

In an instant, the sprawling magma ignited Old Yan’an once again, erupting in a large-scale gush!
