Bear School Astartes

”Calm down, Lann.”

In the midst of everyone’s sorrow and regret, Gandalf stepped forward, his tone soothing.

”They’ve all been pierced in the chest by Azog and his men, it’s too late now... Sorlin’s final regret was not being able to bid farewell to everyone. Let him leave peacefully, okay?”

Lann knelt on the ice on one knee, his eyes continually scanning the three dwarves lying on the ground.

The Qilin observed from this side, its elegant and noble form blocking others who wanted to approach. However, its feline-like face also turned in this direction.

Rong Buqiu was equally saddened, its furry little forepaws held against its chest as it approached Lann, meowing softly.

”This isn’t the time for that.”

The Demon Hunter didn’t even glance at the Old Wizard who stepped forward.

”I killed an evil dragon in Long Lake Town, then ran to the outskirts of River Valley City to slay a demon wolf that should’ve been extinct ten thousand years ago, and I’m not here to watch this bastard die now!”

”Do you know healing arts? If all you know is illumination magic, then get out of my way, wizard!”

Reprimanded, Gandalf’s fingers holding the magic staff twisted in frustration, but ultimately he said nothing and stepped back.

The cold wind blew over the ice surface, making the fine ice sand on it resemble a rolling dust storm.

The Demon Hunter’s cat-like eyes examined Sorlin, Philipp, and Qi Li.

He reached out, tearing open the shirts on the chests of the three dwarves with a few ripping sounds.

Just as Gandalf said, the three had their chests pierced by different enemies.

Philipp and Qi Li appeared to be pierced by a type of conical weapon.

And Sorlin...

Lann glanced to the side, at the other end of the ice surface, the left arm of the already dead Pale Orc held a vicious double-pointed knife.

”The main reason for their rapid decline in vital signs is massive bleeding and organ damage caused by the chest wounds. The specific human diagram is as follows, sir.”

Mentos was consistently reliable, projecting virtual images of Sorlin and the others onto Lann’s retina, marking the wound shapes in red.

Lann examined the anatomical diagrams of the three.

Normally, the wounds on Sorlin and the others would be enough to kill a regular human on the spot, but due to the dwarves’ resilience, capable of surviving a Hundred-page Hammer to the skull, they were still hanging on to life.

In an instant, treatment plans and possible consequences along with responses started forming in Lann’s mind.

A flood of thoughts, inspired by Lann, poured out like a bursting dam.

Following that, Mentos captured all these ideas, ensuring they wouldn’t fade away like shooting stars in his mind.

The biochemical brain recorded them, organized them logically, categorized, and compiled.

With immense computational power, it verified feasibility, selecting the top five most reasonable and likely successful plans for Lann to choose from.

All completed in a very short time, to the outside observer it might seem as though Lann took a single deep breath.

Then, Lann pulled off the Alchemy Pouch from his lower back and tossed it to Rong Buqiu.

”Meow?”

The small cat jumped up to catch the Alchemy Pouch, looking at its boss with a touch of confusion.

”Find the medical kit inside,” Lann instructed while he continued to strip the upper bodies of the three, exposing their wounds.

”Hurry up, Rong Buqiu.”

”Got it, meow!”

After speaking, Elu Cat placed the Alchemy Pouch on the ground, burrowing its head and paws inside, leaving only a pair of furry paws and tail outside, swaying and not touching the ground.

It diligently searched.

The Demon Hunter, despite having prepared numerous restorative Magic Potions for himself, had considered the possible injuries to Qilin and Rong Buqiu, along with his own medical knowledge and skills.

Thus, he also equipped the Alchemy Pouch with surgical instruments and medical supplies, updating it entirely every time he returned to Airetusa.

Originally blocked by Qilin, the mourning crowd gradually started to sense a possibility seeing Lann’s clear actions.

...Can they really be saved?!

The most excited was Dwalin, with snot and tears staining his beard, holding onto Qilin’s leg, looking in Lann’s direction with hopeful eyes.

Lann took the medical instruments brought out by Rong Buqiu and began to work smoothly.

No time to worry about infection; he needed to seal the chest wounds of the three dwarves, trusting in the herbal medicine of this world and the dwarves’ resilient physique thereafter.

Lann simply removed his gloves, washed his hands with alcohol, and reached into the dwarves’ chest cavity.

His large palm could almost cover the entire front chest of a dwarf, but under skilled technique, the disadvantage of size in delicate work hardly showed.

Agile, precise, delicate... This was surgical technique worthy of being called art, even having a natural beauty and ceremonial sense.

Fingers plunged into the viscous, slippery chest cavity, locating the elastic blood vessels hidden among plasma and flesh.

Finding blood vessels amid the chaotic wounds usually takes a regular doctor quite some time.

Because blood vessels retract upon rupture, similar to rubber bands. A leg blood vessel may retract straight back into the abdominal cavity upon breaking.

But Mentos had already analyzed the wound thoroughly, planning the possible locations of the blood vessels in advance. Lann only needed to search within a small area.

His nimble hands skillfully stitched, knotted, closed the wounds, and drained the accumulated blood from the dwarves’ chest cavities...

In just ten minutes, without any assistance, he had sewn up the chests of three dwarves!

Each dwarf took just a little over three minutes on average!

And the stitches were neat, the needlework was tight and fine.

The group watching from outside felt a surge of hope in their hearts.

However, Lann, who was in charge of the surgery, did not relax his frowned brow.

Because the condition of Sorlin, Philipp, and Qi Li was still not optimistic.

After closing the wounds and stitching the blood vessels, even temporarily mending the organ damage, their faces remained pale, and their pupils began to dilate.

The time they had been injured was already too long, during which blood and other things had flowed out of the wounds.

Now do they need a blood transfusion? Without enough blood, the machine that is their body cannot start.

Lann looked down at the three dwarves, then irritably dismissed his idea.

It wasn’t just blood... During the process of the wounds being open, they lost too much, their physiological indicators plummeted like a cliff, and the chain reaction caused by this couldn’t be pulled back by a simple blood transfusion.

It’s a comprehensive collapse of the body’s entire functioning!

If one were to list what the three of them were lacking, the list of substances would be sufficient to fill several large sheets of parchment.

And if he had to give just one name, Lann could only say... what they lack is life force.

Life force that could rejuvenate their dying bodies.

”Think of a way, think of a way... I remember... I vaguely remember... I seem to have...”

Lann, with blood-stained fingers, pinched his forehead, murmuring irritably, while the worried Rong Buqiu looked on at the Demon Hunter and the dwarves on the ground.

The Demon Hunter always felt he had something like that on him.

Mentos began to rapidly retrieve Lann’s memory.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the Lonely Mountain, relative to Crow Ridge, the sound of marching troops began to rumble.

The cries of the beastmen also started appearing.

Gandalf first looked at Lann, who was still trying to save the three dwarves, then walked ahead to the frozen waterfall and looked down.

”Gondarba’s orcs!”

The Old Wizard held onto his pointed hat, turned around, and shouted.

”Gondarba’s orcs have arrived!”

The crowd present all wore solemn expressions; just the orcs from Dorguldu alone had already turned the Lonely Mountain into chaos.

At this moment, with Gondarba’s half-orcs about to join the battle, the situation seemed anything but optimistic.

Dwalin wiped his face vigorously, looked at Sorlin and the others, who clearly couldn’t be moved, picked up his axe, and headed out.

”I’ll stop them! Let me!”

Legolas, Tauriel, and Glorfindel each drew their weapons.

But Gandalf, standing at the edge of the frozen waterfall cliff, raised his head to the sky.

Contrary to expected dark clouds and oppressive atmosphere brought by the orcs, instead...

The white clouds and sunlight in the sky seemed even more sanctified.

”No, there’s no need.” A butterfly flew onto Gandalf’s magic staff, and the Old Wizard smiled at it. ”Our friends have finally arrived.”

With the Old Wizard’s wise and relieved smile, a sharp eagle’s cry echoed from high above!

In an instant, every white cloud in the sky was blown apart by intense air currents, revealing a dark figure above the clouds.

It was a flock of great eagles!

Noble creatures, allies to all good beings, enemies to evil!

Each of these great eagles could easily grasp an adult with its claws, their eyes flashing with the light of wisdom, not ordinary creatures.

Upon their sudden arrival, the Gondarba orcs, who were aggressively advancing through Crow Ridge towards the Lonely Mountain, immediately fell into disarray.

On the narrow mountain path, each eagle’s dive could directly knock down a whole path full of orcs.

The orcs’ aerial forces—the wicked bats, were nothing more than a swarm of flies in front of the great eagles.

The orcs’ aerial strength was completely suppressed.

And it wasn’t just the aerial forces.

”Roar!!!”

An enraged bear’s roar came from the back of a great eagle, it was a tall man, who leaped off the eagle’s back and transformed mid-air into a colossal bear!

This giant bear fell from a height of dozens of nearly a hundred meters without a scratch and immediately charged into the orc formation, starting a massacre.

And at this moment, Lann, facing the sunlight revealed by the clouds scattered by the eagles, suddenly remembered something.
