Bear School Astartes

”Come, come closer. It’s cool in this room.”

Belengar led Lann to a small room adjacent to a melting chamber.

As soon as they entered, the refreshing feeling immediately dispersed the high temperature of the melting chamber.

Lann stepped inside; it seemed Belengar had been here for a long time, conveniently observing the operation of the equipment at any moment.

The small room was a simple resting area, with a table and chairs, a bed, and a storage box.

”To replenish the magic power for that crystal and deliver a large amount of ore and monster materials at once, the Warlocks’ levitation spell was needed. So they planned a resting station here, and now I use it the most.”

Belengar skillfully arranged for Lann to sit in the chair while he reached under the bed.

He bent over while explaining.

”This room was enchanted by the Female Warlocks, the heat is directly expelled into the seawater under the reef, but of course, it requires regular recharging.”

”Aha! Found it! This thing is too long and heavy, even the storage box couldn’t hold it, had to put it under the bed.”

Lann ignored Belengar’s complaints, his eyes already fixed on that long wooden box.

His mouth involuntarily revealed a smile of anticipation.

”Open it, Belengar.”

The long-faced Demon Hunter offered a confident smile: ”Of course, of course. This is the fine sword that took me three days and nights to craft; of course, I’ll open it for you. Just watch.”

The long wooden box was opened, revealing a massive, dark sword before Lann’s eyes.

Belengar seemed to have used some unique forging technique, Valerian steel originally should resemble Damascus pattern’s rippling texture.

Dark as black smoke, bright as cold light.

But on this great sword, the black and white were divided into distinct parts.

The blade bright enough to reflect a person’s image, and the main pressure-bearing spine part, gives a heavy impression with pure black.

The sword’s design was quite regular, just an oversize dimension. Width of a palm, total length of 1.8 meters, thickness close to a knuckle.

The guard didn’t use a crossguard but rather resembled a flat rectangular iron block, directly mounted.

Lann guessed it was for balance weighting.

The sword handle was wrapped round and round with white burlap, anti-slip and moisture-proof.

Simply put, this mighty sword is even more intimidating, filled with awe and destruction compared to the emergency use sword from Old Robert used by Lann before!

”Wow.”

Lann raised his eyebrow, exclaiming.

Belengar accepted the compliment gladly.

”You are the only one who can wield this sword well, Lann. Even with Valerian steel, the total weight of this sword still reaches over fifty kilograms. I calculated if made from ordinary steel, this sword would weigh over three hundred kilograms.”

Lann didn’t comment on this claim.

He stepped forward, bending down, his palm grabbing the burlap-wrapped sword handle from the wooden box.

It felt weighty in hand, and when he truly grasped the sword, this weight brought him a comfortable satisfaction.

For a warrior, the weight of the weapon brings reassurance.

”Use both hands, use both hands. If you strain your back, it won’t be just a day or two...”

Before Belengar finished his caution, his mouth began to open and close unconsciously, yet forgot to align with his throat, unable to make a sound.

Lann held the sword handle single-handedly, smoothly straightening his body, his bright cat eyes closely following the mighty sword.

The two hearts started beating violently, pumping blood flow making the body stronger and more powerful.

Subtle heat leaked from the corners of Lann’s mouth through his teeth.

Hanging fifty kilograms outside one’s body and beginning to swing undoubtedly devastates a person’s balance and stability.

But with the core knowledge of the Bear School Swordsmanship, Lann practiced his balance control well.

The entire sword was lifted cleanly and neatly as its unusually wide area stirred more airflow.

When Lann raised the sword, this airflow even swept little dust tornadoes from the crevices of the floorboards.

A slight exertion, and the mighty sword was lifted single-handedly by Lann to his shoulder.

The blade didn’t seek sharpness; it was meant for strength, too sharp a blade would make it vulnerable in clashes.

”Snap!”

The butt of the sword blade pressed on the leather shoulder armor of the Bear School Armor, emitting a powerful, crisp noise.

It wasn’t the sword blade damaging the shoulder armor; it was the internal plate of the armor vibrating as the sword blade weighed on the shoulder!

”A fine sword indeed, Belengar!”

Grip, balance, weight, toughness... the quality of Valerian steel upheld such an extraordinary dimension.

Normally, a double-handed sword with a half-centimeter thick blade would automatically bend under gravity when held horizontal.

Yet this sword, even larger in design, maintained a straight, smooth blade.

Belengar grumbled quietly until Lann shouldered the sword; he could barely return to normal.

”My Meretelli...”

The long-faced Demon Hunter smacked his lips repeatedly, judging Lann’s combat prowess by standards before he acquired the Second Heart.

Since then, Lann hadn’t exhibited his current physical capability in Belengar’s presence.

”Alright... I see you’re itching to chop something. Anyone would think so after acquiring a fine sword. But let’s negotiate, wait until you leave before going berserk? I fear you’ll brush against my design here.”

Belengar pouted with complex emotions.

He too liked fine swords, wanting to wield the sword he crafted, but he knew his limits.

Now, he was more concerned about his set of smelting and processing equipment.

Lann naturally wouldn’t start practicing now; Belengar specially prepared a leather strap for him to wear the sword on his back.

Because the sword was too heavy, a simple strap like that for a normal longsword was impossible.

This was a strap distributing weight across shoulders, back, and waist, resembling a modern tactical vest.

There’s an iron ring on the back to hook with the sword guard’s iron ring, suspending it.

”Oh, right, what’s the sword’s name? A fine sword deserves a good name.”

Lann buckled the mighty sword to his back, flexing to accommodate the added weight while inquiring Belengar.

”Just forging it drained half my life energy; I’m not good at naming... let’s name it after the forging place, ’Murky Water,’ how about that?”

Murky Water, also known as Muddy Water Village. Lann automatically completed the translation in his mind.

”Great, this sword will be called ’Turbulent Flow’ then.”

Belengar pursed his lips: ”...Actually, is there a possibility you could not ask me for a name?”
