Chapter 1103: Part 2: Falcon Hotel

From MCʼs Perspective:

Falcon Hotel,

As I reached the end of the street, the towering presence of the Falcon Hotel loomed on my left, its grand façade glowing under the soft illumination of street lights. The building exuded a sense of wealth and opulence, its glass doors shimmering with a promise of luxury.

For a moment, I slowed my pace, contemplating whether to step inside. But something in the pit of my stomach warned me to keep moving. A split-second decision, and I veered right, my boots hitting the pavement with renewed purpose as I walked past the hotel.

Behind me, the two stalkers paused, clearly unsettled by my sudden change in direction. They mustʼve thought I would enter the Falcon Hotel—it was, after all, the most obvious place for someone like me to disappear. But I wasnʼt going to make it that easy for them.

A few meters ahead, another hotel caught my eye. It was equally luxurious, perhaps a bit quieter, tucked away behind a row of neatly trimmed hedges. The golden lights spilling from the windows promised anonymity. Without hesitation, I stepped inside.

The warmth of the lobby engulfed me as the heavy door swung shut behind. The subtle scent of polished wood and freshly brewed coffee filled the air, and the soft murmur of conversation echoed from the lounge area. I crossed the marble floor toward the registration desk, my heart steady now.

”Good evening,” I greeted the clerk, a well-groomed man with a practiced smile. I inquired about the availability of rooms, my voice casual despite the tension buzzing beneath the surface. Relief washed over me when he confirmed they had vacancies. I slid my temporary ID across the counter, keeping my movements smooth and deliberate.

While the clerk processed my registration, I took a moment to ask a few more questions about the area. His interest piqued when he learned I was a foreigner. He leaned forward slightly and offered a small slip of paper, a code scrawled across it. ”This will give you access to our local news network and some other information sources online,” he explained.

His tone was helpful, but I could sense the underlying curiosity in his gaze.

I thanked him with a nod, pocketing the code, and received the keycard to my room—second floor, as I requested. The cool metal felt reassuring in my hand as I headed toward the elevator.

The ride to the second floor was swift, and I was alone, the mirrored walls of the elevator reflecting my calm exterior. But my mind was already working, calculating my next move. I couldnʼt shake the feeling that the stalkers hadnʼt given up yet.

As soon as I stepped out onto the second floor, I heard it—the distinct, hurried footsteps back in the lobby. The elevator doors closed behind me just as I caught a glimpse of the two stalkers entering the hotel.

The staff at the front desk looked momentarily startled by their abrupt arrival. The two men were dressed in simple servant uniforms, the kind that screamed obedience, but the staff recognized them instantly. Their status was clear, and they moved with an air of entitlement, as though they belonged here.

I quickened my pace, heading toward my room. My fingers tightened around the keycard as I prepared for whatever came next. The game had just begun.

”Where is the person who just entered?” one of them demanded, his voice low but insistent, laced with an undercurrent of frustration.

The staff member behind the counter, unfazed by their intensity, replied calmly, ”He went to his room.”

The two wizards exchanged a glance, their expressions momentarily betraying their surprise. They had been too slow. The target had already slipped past them and secured a room. Now that he was staying here, their options were limited.

This wasnʼt just any ordinary hotel. It was under the protection of another influential family—a family whose power could easily rival their own young masterʼs lineage. If they caused trouble here, they wouldnʼt just be answering to their master; theyʼd have a political storm on their hands.

The balance of power in this city was delicate, and any misstep could ignite something much larger than a simple chase.

The staff member, fully aware of the unspoken tension, met their gazes with steady confidence. He knew the politics at play. He wasnʼt intimidated by their status, nor their magic. They wouldnʼt dare stir up trouble here, not in a place that commanded so much respect. He could see the reluctance in their eyes.

Frustration bubbled beneath the surface as the two wizards exchanged another look. There was nothing they could do. Leaving now, with no way to pursue the target, was a bitter pill to swallow. They knew the consequences that awaited them.

Their young master, Don, was not a forgiving man, and his fury would be swift. With a final glare at the staff member, they turned and left the hotel, their postures slumped with defeat. The doors swung shut behind them, and the tension in the lobby eased.

Meanwhile, upstairs, I had just entered my room, the soft click of the door lock providing a much-needed sense of security. I wasted no time. Pulling out my device, I activated the systemʼs scanning function, a quiet hum filling the air as it probed the space around me for any signs of magic.

I wasnʼt going to take any chances—not in a city where magic users lurked in the shadows, and certainly not with wizards like those two on my trail.

Minutes ticked by as the system completed its sweep, analyzing every corner of the room. My eyes followed the progress on the display, watching for any signs of danger.

Finally, the scan concluded: the room was clear. No magical surveillance, no hidden devices. For the first time in hours, I allowed myself to relax, the tight coil of tension in my chest unwinding.

I made my way to the bathroom, craving the warmth of a shower to wash away the dayʼs stress. The hot water cascaded over my skin, soothing the knots in my muscles. I lingered longer than usual, letting the steam and silence envelop me. Twenty minutes passed in a haze of relief.

Stepping out, I wrapped myself in a thick, soft towel, the chill of the hotelʼs air conditioning a welcome contrast to the heat. I changed into comfortable clothes—loose, easy to move in, but cozy enough to rest. Fresh and renewed, I felt a renewed clarity settling over me.

But there was no time for complacency. Now that I had secured my safety, my thoughts turned to the next step. I needed to gather information, make a plan, and most importantly—stay ahead of those wizards. They might have left for now, but I knew they wouldnʼt give up so easily.

Don Blaire didnʼt return to his familyʼs grand estate that night. Instead, he chose to stay at his private resort, a sprawling, luxurious hideaway nestled in the outskirts of the city. It was his sanctuary, far from the prying eyes of his family and the political intrigue that often surrounded them.

Here, he could control the environment, monitor events from a distance, and wait for the news he knew was coming.

Seated in the expansive lounge of his suite, Don Blaire sipped on a glass of fine red wine, his sharp eyes flicking occasionally toward the large windows that overlooked the city skyline. The resort staff kept their distance, well aware that when Don was in this contemplative state, interruptions were not welcome.

He was expecting his servants any minute now—the two he had dispatched to follow the stranger.

Before he could summon them, the heavy wooden doors of the suite swung open, and his two servants entered, their posture stiff and uncertain. The moment he saw their faces, Don straightened in his seat, his glass forgotten on the side table. His gaze narrowed, instantly reading the tension between them.

Without preamble, he asked, ”Where is the stranger? What did you find?”

The two servants exchanged uneasy glances, their expressions betraying a mix of frustration and reluctance. It was clear that things hadnʼt gone according to plan. After a brief, silent exchange, one of them stepped forward and began to recount the events of the evening.

Don listened intently, his fingers drumming lightly on the armrest of his chair. At first, his expression remained calm, almost indifferent, as they explained how they had followed the stranger, certain he would check into the Falcon Hotel.

But as they continued, describing how the stranger had made an unexpected decision and opted for a different, more discreet hotel, Donʼs composure wavered, just for a moment. His brow furrowed slightly, the faintest sign of irritation.

”He... chose another hotel?” Don repeated slowly, leaning forward as if to ensure he hadnʼt misheard them.

The servants nodded, their voices faltering slightly. ”Yes, Master. He walked right past the Falcon and entered another establishment, one owned by the Kemble family. We couldnʼt interfere—the Kembleʼs influence rivals our own, and causing a disturbance there would have serious consequences.”
