Genetic Ascension

Chapter 2011: Culture

When a sudden portal to a world on the verge of Demi-Godhood was opened up right before Earth, it wouldnʼt be a surprise for every powerhouse worth their salt to be paying attention to it.

As for how many such powerhouses there were sensitive enough to notice such a thing, Sylas honestly had no idea. He really hadnʼt cared that much about the growth of Earth. As far as he was concerned, he alone was enough. And as things went, he was probably as correct about that as he had been about anything else—and he tended to be correct a lot.

What Sylas, in all his genius, didnʼt quite account for was just how strongly Nosphaleen would be holding onto his hand, and how the first scene the seas of Earthʼs powerhouses would find upon this happening was precisely the sight of this.

Sylas raised an eyebrow and then his gaze shifted up.

Earthʼs formation was above him. Yamero had definitely done an excellent job. There was no way he could have pulled that off without taking advantage of the fact he was the Progenitor of Earth, somehow.

As for how, it would have taken Sylas a bit more time than he had now to figure it out. On one hand, that made Yamero quite the genius-but Sylas already knew that.

The real problem was that the reason he wouldnʼt have all that much time to figure things out was because he would very soon have a lot of other problems to deal with.

A cannon of concentrated Aether fired right at them.

Sylas closed his eyes and sighed. There went his dreams of peace and calm.

He opened his eyes and the beam of Aether completely dissipated, shredding apart down to its very roots until nothing but fluttering pieces of Strokes and Foundations lay stranded in the sky.

It was quite the beautiful sight if there wasnʼt as furious as a wild beast on the other end of it.

Cassarae stood on the walls of Castle Main behind a cannon five times the size of her body. She pulled Aether Crystals out of thin air, slamming them in so hard the entire wall cracked.

Pulsing lights came from the end of the cannon and it looked like it was about to fire again.

Sylasʼ lips parted as he moved to say something, but before he could, Nosphaleen let his hand go and shot forward.

At some unknown point, Yamero appeared by his side.

”Trouble in paradise?”

Sylas didnʼt even know what to say. By this point, several figures were coming out of various buildings in the city, including his parents.

Nosphaleen landed on the cannon as though she didnʼt fear her own destruction.

Cassaraeʼs expression was ice cold, and for a moment the world crackled in icy blue and dense crimson. The echoes of sharpening swords and flowing water filled the air, one clashing against the other.

Nosphaleen pulled out a trident as though yanking it out from space itself, and then she pointed it right at Cassaraeʼs head.

The fury in Cassaraeʼs eyes boiled over and the howl of her sword approached long before she even reached for it. When she finally did unsheathe it, though, it was like she had yanked it out from the depths of hell.

The scent of blood filled the air and an illusory guillotine formed in the air as though formed of her Will itself.

The very continent itself seemed to be on shaky footing.

”I challenge you for your husband.” Nosphaleen said in a clear, melodic voice.

”Iʼm going to feed you your fucking uterus and make you shit out a placenta.”

In the City Lordʼs Mansion, Elena had been distracted and only just had the time to rush to the window. When she saw what was happening, she ran down to the kitchen and threw something in the microwave. Feeling like it was going to take too long, she yanked the door back open and slammed it into a bowl instead.

Runes danced and heat filled the air along with the popping sound of popcorn.

She raced back up to her window, kicking it open and squatting on the sill. She held a large stainless steel bowl in one hand, and ate with another.

This was practically the best day of her life.

Elena wasnʼt the only one who felt the oddity, and far from the only one who was so interested. Not far away, there was movement from the ocean waters.

Vaelymyr Tideborn, Nosphaleenʼs father, had also seen what was happening and he could only feel helpless.

The Clypsians had their own cultures and traditions, some of them wrapped into the bloodlines, and others that were downstream from this, but not quite related.

This tradition was a little bit of the former and latter.

In cycles, the Clypsians would go into heat. During this moment, their Lust would be off the charts and very difficult to handle. Most of their procreation happened during this time.

But keeping up with the Lust of their women was quite difficult, and as one might imagine, this would lead to quite a bit of infighting as a scarce few men were tasked with the needs of hordes of women.

A tradition of challenge and violence for, well... dick, was thus born. It was rare, but not unheard of for female Clypsians to challenge their female counterparts for their husbands.

Obviously, Nosphaleen wasnʼt in heat right now. In fact, she had moved far enough away from her Clypsian origins that she may not once face such a situation at all.

Unlike a certain half-Clypsian that Sylas once met in the Woodlands and had seemingly forgotten about.

However, heat or no, the traditions that raised her were very much still in Nosphaleenʼs bones, and she had grown tired of restraining herself and her feelings for the sake of Cassarae.

If Sylas killed her, then so be it. She wouldnʼt blame him for one moment.

But she would fight for what she wanted.

Aether crackled between the two women and then the earth and Castle Mainʼs walls collapsed beneath them.

BOOM.

They vanished.
