Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1948: A Point (1) [Bonus]

[Bonus thanks to Eeshoo97 :)]

BOOM.

The encampment shook and there was a sudden surge from within it. Almost instantly, everyone present reacted in kind, rushing toward the sound of danger. Every one of them thought that some beast must have broken through their protective shields and acted against them.

However, when they rushed into the square, all they found was a face that had practically begun haunting them in their dreams.

Sylas Grimblade.

Sylas was about to speak, but Nosphaleen held onto his arm and gave him a smile.

”What kind of Emperor makes announcements on his own?” she said with a cute grin.

Not sure exactly what to say to this, Sylas could only stare and that made Nosphaleenʼs smile even brighter.

Then her gaze suddenly became frighteningly chilly.

”I will say this once and once alone,” a frigid air spread, sparks of ice crackling across the once lush earth and pristine tents. ”If you want a chance to survive, the only path forward is to follow my Master. If you are dissatisfied with this outcome, make your grievances known now. This will be the one time you may challenge my Master and leave with your lives. Every time beyond this one will mean death.”

The geniuses of the Emperor Sanctum were floored. What was this supposed to be? A hostile takeover?

Based on what, exactly?

Even if Sylas fully controlled them here, what would he do about their Ancestors and Elders? And could he even defeat them in the first place?

There were many of them here on the verge of the C-tier, and a few that had already crossed that threshold. Each one was the cream of the crop of their Lineages, and their power might be weaker than the best of organizations like the Seeing Eye Guild or the Weaver Guild, but they would still be firmly within their middle ranks or so.ʼ

Even if Sylas could battle against lower level D-tiers-something they didnʼt put past him for his level of talent— what good would that talent be against Level 140s and 150s? What about those that had already crept into the C- tiers?

Bulese hung in the crowd herself, her eyes filled with hesitation. She was the only one who had personally seen Sylas battle. She had almost won.

Though she knew that this was because of Maldrithʼs interference, she hadnʼt seen Sylas display a might that was too overwhelming.

However... something about Sylas felt different right now.

Very different.

”Iʼm sick and tired of this bullshit.” A cold voice echoed.

Their feet came out heavy, raging sideburns that almost looked like flickering black flames pulsing on the side of his face. In fact, when Sylas looked a second time, it wasnʼt just that they ”looked like” them. But the manʼs facial hair really was half hair half flame.

That burning continued into the depths of his eyes, a wild Ape Emperor Aura pulsing from him.

ʼHeʼs close too.ʼ Sylas thought to himself.

God Beasts should have been quite rare amongst the Emperor Sanctum. Of course, this referred to God Beasts in terms of the special Race evolution of the Spirit Beasts, not in terms of actual God Realm Beasts.

That aside, they should have been rare either way. But what was curious was that Sylas putting his thumb on the scale had shifted things.

He had sensed that Kalem, Buleseʼs brother, had quite some potential to become a God Beast. And now this was already the second person he was meeting who had such potential.

Even without checking his stats, Sylas knew that he was a Level 150 D-tier. He was in the process of building his D-Grade Foundation to set himself up for entry into the C-tier.

He was truly powerful.

BOOM.

A large hammer with a polearm of over two meters in length and a shaft as thick as a forearm slammed into the ground.

The encampment rocked once more, but the Ape Emperor only had burning eyes for Sylas alone.

Monfi really was tired of all the nonsense.

Just a few months ago, the Emperor Sanctum had been stable, growing, moving toward a bigger and brighter future.

But then the Myrrakhael were wiped out by some unknown force triggered by some unknown thing.

Since that moment, it had all been downhill from there.

The Thryskai appeared, needed a large piece of the Karma they had accumulated. They infiltrated their Main Sect and their branches, weeding their ways into their businesses and their strongholds.

It felt like every day was just another humiliation ritual. Everyone felt like they could just trample on them because they felt like it, even to the point a small little E-tier thought it was just fine to commandeer their beasts, D- and C- tier geniuses.

”Come die.” Monfi said with a growl.

He would put this to an end. Right here and now.

Sylas walked forward, pulling his arm away from Nosphaleen slowly until he stood under Monfiʼs shadow. The latter towered over him by two full heads, the head of Monfiʼs hammer alone being half the length of his body.

Monfi raised the hammer high into the skies, a whistling wind pulsing.

Sylas didnʼt move. If he could deal with an A-tier in this world so easily, what chance did Monfi think he stood, exactly?

But using space would be too easy. And it wouldnʼt prove his point at all.

No. If he wanted to command the authority he sought, it would have to be with a strength that went beyond this world alone.

Sylas reached out a hand as Monfi began his downward swing, grasping at the air to his side as a scythe swirled into being.

With a twist of his wrist, it spun along his palm until it snapped into place.

His second hand found its way to its slender, black, abyssal form.

He swung so hard upward that its body bowed beneath his might.

Chi.

Blade and hammer met.

In that moment, the D-grade treasure Monfi had been so proud of for so very long split in two as though warmed butter to a butter knife.

A line of blood appeared from Monfiʼs chin to the top of his forehead.
