Genetic Ascension

Chapter 1134: Five

In Sylasʼ opinion, Jala was incredibly foolish. Holding back was smart, but only if you had the capital to do so. If you held back against an opponent you stood no chance against unless you went all out, you were just presenting your head for death.

The reason Sylas didnʼt use any obvious Skills or methods was to fool Jala into thinking he was likewise holding back a great deal. Was that true? Well… yes. But he also wasnʼt Jala.

He didnʼt need an excess of treasures and the like to bridge the gap between himself and his opponents.

But just when Sylas was about to claim victory, the Dungeon seemed to have sensed that the battle was over and saved Jala before he could die.

Now that Sylas thought about it, when he fell from above, the rate of the fall was just within what he could handle. As for the green blade missing by a wide margin, that was only because the Dungeon had underestimated just how high Sylasʼ Luck was. When it attacked the second time, Sylas reached out and caught it—half to measure its strength, and another half because he couldnʼt dodge it as easily that time.

The Dungeon had adjusted and made it harder on him, manifesting the blade from a closer range. However, not enough that it would be lethal to him.

This Dungeon…

ʼNot good.ʼ

Sylas had thought about a million things that could go wrong, but this wasnʼt among them. He had heard of these kinds of Dungeons before, or rather, he had read about them.

This was a Dungeon that wouldnʼt allow anyone that entered to die. That was because its purpose wasnʼt lethality—it was to push its participants to their limits and help them to break through.

That was why the Level Limit of this Dungeon was exactly Level 50. It was designed to help those already in the process of building their foundation to push it just a little bit further.

It was a training Dungeon.

But this was the absolute worst sort of news for Sylas. If he couldnʼt kill anyone, what would happen when they went out?

He had already destroyed any reason for the Petals of the Seeing Thorn to get involved now, and they certainly wouldnʼt fall for the same trick twice. The Thryskai and Thalrik didnʼt even want to take this route to begin with, and they certainly had no reason to do it just for the likes of Sylas, who had no backing left in his galaxy.

So what would happen?

Sylas would have screwed himself over in the worst of ways.

Slowly, Sylas closed his eyes. He felt a little strand of something enter his body, probably a sort of reward for defeating Jala, but he ignored it. It wasnʼt anything special—not when this Dungeon was designed for those of his galaxy.

Sylas had already gone past that limit just by becoming a member of a D-Grade Race. In terms of one-on-one combat, maybe only Israeal was a worthy opponent for him.

The moment Sylas had this thought, his eyes flashed open.

He couldnʼt allow this Dungeon to just let them meander around as they pleased.

If the Dungeon was going to be against him too, that was fine. He was just going to have to pretend he was against five enemies instead of just four.

No matter what, he had to leave here as the only True Chosen of the…

No, of the Milky Way.

There was an elephant in the room he wasnʼt addressing. If the Dungeon was adjusting based on power, the more of his strength he showed, the more it would react. Whether it was set to the limit of this galaxy or not, a Dungeon powered by the system could accomplish far more than Sylas was capable of.

This Dungeon was powerful enough to block D-Grades on the outside—so much so that they could only watch on as their children died.

The amount of power this Dungeon had was beyond Sylasʼ imagination.

That meant that he not only needed to treat this Dungeon as an enemy, he needed to somehow do it while not allowing it to react in time to make things far more difficult than he could manage.

Sylasʼ gaze became focused as two more spheres shattered, dropping Thalrik and Israeal below.

There was only one way out of this, and he would be taking it.

He wouldnʼt accept a loss here, not after everything he had gone through to get himself this opportunity.

Cassarae stood across from Nyssa, staring at the woman in silence. Though the two had no real expressions on their faces, Olivia couldnʼt help but shift side to side, feeling extremely uncomfortable.

The two of them were too powerful, unfortunately. Olivia felt like an ant on a frying pan, and it certainly didnʼt help that Cassaraeʼs Will was so sharp right now it felt like she wanted to personally bite Nyssaʼs nose off.

As for Nyssa herself, she might be nervous when interacting with those she felt were far superior to her. But honestly speaking… she didnʼt believe Cassarae fell into that category.

So, Nyssa was quite calm as well, her eyes flickering down to Cassaraeʼs chest.

Okay, maybe she was superior in one area. But just that one area. When it came to what was below the waist, they were dead even—she would take that to her grave.

Plus, Nyssa knew men. They wanted something exotic. Sylas had probably been seeing the same kind of woman all his life. When had he ever seen one with delicate violet skin like hers?

”Keep those peeping tom eyes to yourself, homewrecker, or Iʼll pluck them out and feed them to you.”

Nyssa smiled sweetly. ”Iʼm only admiring your assets. What did I do that was wrong?”

”Other than being born a flat-chested iron board?”

Nyssa scoffed in feigned offense. ”Iʼm hardly an iron board, but you sound about as dumb as a doormat. Do you lay as limply in bed too? I bet hubby doesnʼt have any fun at all.”

Cassarae grinned.

Nyssa grinned back.

Olivia coughed. She was going to lose years off her life because of these two.
