Genetic Ascension

Chapter 211 Back Then...

At that moment, a flash of black gold appeared and a smooth disk appeared before the flying spear.

BANG!

Sylasʼ gaze deepened. The spear actually broke right through, but even worse than that, sparks of a greenish fog were beginning to spread.

His gaze flickered and the runes that the green gas emitted told Sylas one very important thing.

He did not want it to get anywhere near him.

Although it was a bit of a surprise that the spear was able to break through a shield with 400 Defense, Sylas was still exceptionally calm.

At that moment, broke through from Fragmentd Master to Bronze Mastery in a single bond, raising its Defense to 600.

He cast it once again before the spear could close in the rest of the distance, relying on his shield to slow it down.

At the same time, he activated his Basic Aetherflow and Blade Aura Gene Talents, striking out with two heavy palms. His hands suddenly formed illusory green palms in the air, shuttling forward and swiping at the air. A large gust of wind blew the fog approaching him in the other direction.

All the while, Sylas never stopped moving. He reached a second mammoth corpse and stored it away.

The bouncer-like man wanted to send out another attack toward him, but the infuriated mammoth beast before him didnʼt give him such a chance. It rose onto its hind legs, its long, powerful tusks radiating with a silver-blue light as it stomped downward.

The gathering runes reflected in Sylasʼ eyes and his expression changed. Almost instantly, he activated on his body and his sideways momentum became backward momentum.

THWACK! THWACK! THWACK!

His three kunai bolted themselves against the treesʼ trunk, and the same moment the mammoth beast stomped downward, his toes had already firmly pressed against the lowest.

His thighs flexed and he bolted himself upward.

BOOM!

The ground violently trembled and a wave of earth spread out in all directions. Sylasʼ second foot managed to reach the second kunai just before the wave reached his tree.

It rocked him.

The tree swayed to the side under the strong impact and was almost ripped up from the ground. However, Sylas was unprecedentedly focused. Having gathered up momentum, he had already soared up several meters, grabbing onto the thickest branch that he could.

His visualization was still locked on the battle below, and his frown couldnʼt be concealed. The mammoth suddenly toppled over, a green venom pulsing in its large eyes.

He had already had worries after seeing that the man used poison. He couldnʼt help but recall the Rotten Wolves that attacked Casstle Main. Would the Basilisk King be able to take advantage of these corpses?

However, Sylas realized something else.

The man had disappeared into the portal, having been partly blown back, and another part retreating to escape the range of the mammothʼs final desperate strike.

When Sylas saw this, he dropped down from his branch, landing on the third kunai and pushing forward with all his strength.

He soared over the wave of earth and the plumes of poison gas, falling over the dead mammoth and stretching out a hand. This was clearly the strongest creature here, and though he hadnʼt had time to check its stats, it was no doubt the greatest prize.

Poisoned to death or not, he would take it now and check the situation later.

However, as Sylas was falling through the skies, the man suddenly came back through the portal, seemingly having weathered the storm.

His gaze turned malevolent as he saw Sylas falling through the air and reacted quickly.

But Sylas was already ready. The moment the man deployed another poison spear Skill, Sylas activated .

Just as it seemed that he was falling through the air, he did a double jump. Then, as he was about to soar over his target, he activated once again, plummeting like a meteor through the air.

BANG!

He landed heavily on the back of the large mammoth and it instantly vanished into his Madness Key.

At that moment, the gazes of Sylas and the bouncer met. Danger signs blared through Sylasʼ mind, not just from the man, but from the beasts that were recovering from the mammothʼs last ditch effort.

The portal was still a fatal attraction; how could they give up on it.

But right now, the man seemed to be entirely focused on Sylas.

Time slowed.

Suddenly, Sylas felt his stats boost by another 10% as BOSS Slayer activated in the background.

At the same time, Voice of a King thrummed. As powerful as the man was, it seemed that his Will was still weaker than Sylasʼ, and that only made sense. With Madness activated, Sylasʼ Will was 1176.

Realizing this, Sylas didnʼt hesitate. He pumped one Aether Unit into and then turned and ran without hesitation.

He did this for a very clear reason. Bind Skills were powerful, but they had counters. He had no idea if this man would have a counter, but he wouldnʼt risk it.

He was willing to put his life on the line for benefits, but he knew when to cut his losses.

Sylasʼ visualization almost instantly picked up that the man was circulating a counter; he seemed to have sensed Sylasʼ attempt ahead of time. But this was within Sylasʼ expectations as well.

He touched the Stabilization Bracelet, ready to activate it at any moment.

However, to his surprise, the manʼs counter failed.

Sylas still didnʼt turn back. In just two seconds, he was already over 20 meters away and the man slipped out of the range of his visualization. If he turned back now, he might fall into a trap.

”STOP RIGHT THERE!”

The roar came and Sylasʼ gaze flickered. The man had a second countering Skill even more powerful than the first, and it had managed to break , but it was clear that this technique took longer to cast, giving Sylas another two seconds to slip over 50 meters away.

He flashed forward at his fastest speed, weaving out of the way of beasts. He used his kunai as footholds, leaping up and then soaring through the trees step by step.

ʼThat dialect… he should be from the Africor Continent. That at least gives me a potential vague location…ʼ

Although everyone on Earth spoke the same language, their dialects were bound to be different. From a single shout, Sylas had already analyzed it all.

What Sylas didnʼt know was that the man wasnʼt just from Africor. In fact, he had seen his name once before on a familiar leaderboard.

Back then, it had read…

[8. Ragnar Ravenclaw - Level 8]

Clearly, he had far surpassed that Level now.
