Chapter 2839: Gods Taking Over II

Gods descending was already a thing but some of them really did become rulers of towns and even kingdoms. The actual process of them becoming rulers were not always that peaceful as they demanded kings and queens to step down from their reign. Some gods would just be happy being something akin to a figurehead that only guides other but some want power.

The number of kingdoms that had their royalty deposed increased by at least 200%. The gods that became the new rulers of kingdoms changed the entire area into their sanctuaries. Even if the mortals would try and fight the gods, the actual gods can still retreat back to their divine realms as most of them made sure to not fully descend. In the end, it is the mortal kings and queens that had to escape from persecution.

The only kingdoms safe are the ones that the players actively protected or those areas that players control. Even the gods are not so confident that they can always kill players as the blessed ones can revive from death after all. The kingdoms that effectively had their royal families exiled were those that were weak, hates players, or did not have a divine entity backing them.

Only the central continent had problems when it comes to the gods as they are the most dispersed group in the different continents. The northern continent barely has any gods that descend and the gods there prefer nature than ruling mortals. The eastern continent has the Four Cardinal Divine Beasts which are more powerful than any descending god or goddess.

The western continent is already a society where gods and royalty have achieved a compromise. Some gods even have descendants that are conceived from mortals. It is not too farfetched to say that even the western continent keeps their kingdoms within the family. The southern continent is mainly ruled by gods hence there is no change in authority.

Shekel wanted to voice his question but he is also afraid of the god that took over the town. If the town is already the divine sanctuary of the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil, the god would be able to hear everything inside of it. Players have already got this information as there were a lot of players that badmouthed some ruling gods. They were kicked out of the kingdom even though only their companions heard their conversation.

”Is the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil benevolent? I am not really questioning it as much since he blessed me as well but I have heard rumors of gods that descended to rule territories.” Shekel asked as he wanted to hear it from the mouth of someone that lives here for two months of the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil rule.

”I do not know what you have encountered and heard from your travels as a merchant but the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil is not really acting as a ruler. He is more like an acting Forgery Smith Master as he said that he is more concerned for blacksmiths than the town itself. The town mayor is still the one in-charge of administrative affairs.” The Guard Oliver replied which made Shekel breathe easy as this means the latter still needs to talk to the town mayor.

”I guess this place is faring better because there are places where even gods became tyrannical. I am just glad that the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil is civil and protects this town. I shall head to the town mayor then. I need to open a merchant guild branch here so that our town will prosper.” Shekel stated as he headed to the town hall.

[You have been granted the Greater Blessing of Purification from the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil.]

”Huh? Does the blessing increase if you are in the town where a god has descended?” Shekel thought but he placed that inside the back of his head as he is about to transform the lives of everyone in the small town.

A god that looks like a scruffy middle-aged man could be seen smiling as he observed the blacksmiths under him. The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil is already aware of Shekel as he is the only blessed one that actually dared to help this small town. Shekel even made sure that this town will get supplies regularly even though there are more profitable ventures.

The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil liked that aspect of Shekel and provided him the Lesser Blessing of Purification. The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil can give blessings related to fire, smithing, and purification. Shekel does not have any talent for the two hence he could only give the blessing of purification which helps a mortal’s body in areas that are impure.

Shekel did not know that his blessing actually helped him in areas infested with miasma or poison but the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil did not need to do anything to prove it. The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil want his followers to grow and fly by themselves. He can only be a kindling that helps their fire grow brighter but they must fuel their own fire so that it cannot be extinguished.

Also, the Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil know that Shekel is actually quite friendly with an individual that all of the gods are afraid of. The summoner that gave Shekel his mount was none other than Equinox that was in disguise back then. The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil could still see through the disguise but did not tell Shekel about it. Even he is afraid of the Mediator of Death as he could mobilize the gods and goddesses of death on a whim.

”It is better to have him as an ally than an enemy.” The Lesser God of Fire and Smith Gibil thought as he started to lecture the blacksmiths of their wrong process like a nagging master blacksmith to his apprentices.

Adrian did not know that his territory actually is being avoided by any gods and goddesses. Actually, even demigods avoid his territory despite the rich and abundant divine energy given off by the Tree of Life and Death Yewdrassil. The gods are wary of the Mediator of Death and is even more afraid of the Goddess of Night Nox backing him. The demigods that witnessed the death of the insidious demigods under Old Man Pann made them mark Avalon as a place to avoid.

A tired and heavily injured Frey could be seen standing a bit tired while Adrian could be seen slight injured but still generally fine. Frey could be seen pouting and about to cry but she bottled it up and then turned away from Adrian. Adrian suddenly found himself in an awkward situation because he won every fight that they had with Frey barely hitting him.

”I guess I win then. Shall we go around Avalon to check what is new?” Adrian stated as he tried to change the subject but Frey was still sulking.

If anyone was told that they have seen Frey sulking then any of her fans would probably demean you that you are spreading lies. Their ice warrior goddess will never show a face that is not stoic. Even seeing her smile is already a rare spectacle as she was only captured smiling three times. The fact that sulking Frey looked cute in Adrian’s eyes always want him to tease her a bit as she rarely shows this side of her to anyone.

”You did not even hold back. Your armaments are a cheat.” Frey stated as she pouted.

Adrian looked around and there were no other guild members. There maybe members of the shadow unit hiding but they are not ones to capture private members of their own guild members. Frey only lowers her guard down when there is only the two of them or guild members she trusts. Also, the guild members escaped when they saw Adrian’s face enjoying the fight because they might suddenly be called to fight against their guild master.

”But you told...” Adrian was about to say a reason but Frey looked at him with a pouty and pleading face.

”Sorry. I got carried away again. Still, you did not really go all out unlike me. If you really did use your skills then even you can kill me.” Adrian stated as they only used skills with low cooldown and not the skills that can turn the tide of battles.

Adrian mostly used his armaments and not the other skills to make sure that he gets a good feel for them. Even Frey only used her most basic of skills because that is what she will use most in battles. Upon hearing Adrian say that he is sorry, Frey finally returned to her usual stoic face as if her pouty face never happened.
