Chapter 671 - 671: The Next Department

”How is the situation in the theatre?” Min Gu Su asked when the two of them returned to the meeting room.

The meeting room had been their room for the first year residents as their workplace because the hospital did not prepare any room for them. However, Ji Suk Ye did not stay there together with them. She usually spent her time on the room given by her uncle.

”It was a good lesson.” Ah Kean said.

”Thatʼs right.” Yu Qi agreed with Ah Kean.

”I want to join too.” Min Gu Su expressed his envy. He was a quiet person but very passion for chasing the knowledge.

”Donʼt worry. You will get the chance later.” Ah Kean patted Min Gu Suʼs shoulder.

....

One month would come to end. So the time Yu Qi in the pediatric department would come to end too. For the next month, Yu Qi and other four first year residents that together with her in the pediatric department would go to the orthopaedics department.

Ji Suk Ye, as usual, did not mix together with the three of them. Yu Qi also did not mind about her. It felt okay since Ji Suk Ye did not care about that.

The three of them went to report to Doctor Lai. Doctor Lai was a little bit, strict doctor. He had been informed that there would be four first year residents that would come to report to him. But right now, only three of them were here.

”Well, then, Iʼm Doctor Lai. In charge of you for this month.” Doctor Lai looked at each of them. ”Where is another one?” Doctor Lai asked.

Three of them looked at each other did not know what to say. They had no idea where?Ji Suk Ye had gone.

”Answer me.” Doctor Lai slapped the table. There was a loud sound.

”We donʼt know, Doctor Lai.” The three of them answered at the same time.

”Donʼt know?” Doctor Lai was angry. ”Donʼt you know that surgery could not start with an anaesthetic?”

”We know, Doctor Lai.” Ah Kean answered.

”Then, you should know the team needs to be complete. Remember that.” Doctor Lai said again. ”I will forgive you since it is your first day here.”

”Iʼm sorry that Iʼm late.” Ji Suk Ye walked thorough them like a diva.

Doctor Lai turned to Ji Suk Ye, the latecomer. He looked up and down at Ji Suk Ye. He frowned. He looked at the three first year residents in front of him.

”This is your another member?” He questioned.

”Thatʼs right, Doctor Lai.” The three of them answered while nodding.

Doctor Lai narrowed his eyes. This was the first time he saw a first year resident like her. It really opened his eyes.

”Hello, Doctor Lai.” Ji Suk Ye smiled while greeting Doctor Lai.

”This is what do you wear as a doctor?” Doctor Lai threw a question to Ji Suk Ye.

Ji Suk Ye was confused. ”Eh?”

”Are you deaf? Iʼm asking is this how do you dress as a doctor?” Doctor Lai let his voice louder. He thought that Ji Suk Ye did not hear it on the first time, he asked the question.

”I have heard. Well, I have just worn this since it is my first day in the orthopaedics department.” Ji Suk Ye looked down.

”I want you to go to change your clothes right now.” Doctor Lai ordered Ji Suk Ye.

”But...” Ji Suk Ye wanted to protest.

”Right now!!!” Doctor Lai shouted angrily to Ji Suk Ye.

Ji Suk Ye became scared. She immediately went to follow Doctor Laiʼs order.

”Humph!!! Does she think it is a runway or what?” Doctor Lai still mumbled about Ji Suk Ye.

”So, what do you understand about orthopaedic?” Doctor Lai wanted to know what level of understanding that these three first year residents had about orthopaedic.

”Orthopedics is a medical speciality that focuses on the diagnosis, correction, prevention, and treatment of patients with skeletal deformities - disorders of the bones, joints, muscles, ligaments, tendons, nerves and skin. These elements make up the musculoskeletal system.” Ah Kean answered with full detail.

”So, what is the common surgery for orthopaedics?” Doctor Lai looked at Min Gu Su expecting Min Gu Su to answer this question.

”There is a lot of common surgery for orthopaedics. Some of them are arthroscopy which used to treat problems occurring inside the joint using an arthroscope. Bone fracture repair... It needs to be performed when broken pieces of bone are repositioned using metal plates, screws or pins.

Soft tissue repair, for torn ligaments and tendons.Joint replacement, in which a damaged joint is replaced with a prosthesis. Spine fusion, during which the spinal bones (vertebrae) are joined together...” Min Gu Su wanted to explain more but stopped by Doctor Lai.

Lastly, Doctor Laiʼs eyes laid on Yu Qi. ”Tell me what is the difference between orthopaedic surgeons and orthopaedic specialists?”

”As Doctor Ah explained before orthopaedic surgeons are doctors who specialize in the musculoskeletal system - the bones, joints, ligaments, tendons, and muscles. All of the orthopaedic surgeons are orthopaedic specialists.

However, not all orthopaedic specialists are orthopaedic surgeons. It is because the orthopaedic specialist is qualified to assess, diagnose, and treat your orthopaedic ailment using non-invasive treatments.” Yu Qi answered.

Doctor Lai nodded. The three of them had done their homework. However, when he was thinking about another one, his anger was boiling.

Speaking of the witch, Ji Suk Ye returned with normal attire. This time, Doctor Lai did not have any comment on her outfit.

”What do you understand about orthopaedic?” Doctor Lai looked at Ji Suk Ye.

”Eh, you are asking me?” Ji Suk Ye pointed her finger to her face.

”Yes. Answer me.” Doctor Lai said.

”Why do I need to answer that? You can ask them first.” Ji Suk Ye wanted to avoid.

”I have already asked them. Just answer my question.” Doctor Lai said in a harsh tone.

”Erkk... Hmmm... Orthopaedic is a doctor… who treats peopleʼs bones, I guess...” Ji Suk Ye was not confident about her answer.

”You should study more.” Doctor Lai threw a dirty look at Ji Suk Ye. He wondered how she managed to be a doctor with that attitude.

”Like the rule in the previous department, this will be the same. The difference is the patients. I will assign some of the patients under your care. If you are not sure about something, please ask other doctors about that. They will assist you. Understand?” Doctor Lai asked.

”Yes, Doctor Lai.” The four of them answered.

”Good.” Doctor Lai went ahead assigning the patients under the first year residents.
