The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 479 Gaining goodwill

The soldiers and civilians slowed down upon entering the forest. However, with the soldiersʼ defensive formation and Sandwellʼs keen eyesight and Ego Wave, they were able to safely move forward.

”BOOOOOMMMMMM!” ”ROAAARRRRR!” ”BOOOMMMM!” ”AWWWW!” ”BOOMMMM!”

The large trees obstructed their sight, but the soldiers and civilians could still perceive the mighty bestial roars and massive explosions in the distance. The roars were so potent that they could feel the vibrations in their chests, and the explosions were so loud that their ears rang.

The shockwaves were so powerful that they could feel the ground trembling beneath their feet, even at their location. Continue your journey on My Virtual Library Empire

”Everybody, calm down. There is nothing to worry about. The Godslayer Human is fighting in the distance and still has the upper hand. Keep moving forward in order. Anyone that incites chaos or panic will be executed!”

Sandwellʼs voice was loud and cold as he encompassed the people with his Ego Wave. The Deus Behemoth was not merciless, but if people were to lose control due to fear, thousands could die, so he had to maintain control.

After that warning and understanding that the Godslayer Human could keep the beasts at bay, people regained control and kept advancing.

After restoring order, Sandwell was finally able to relax and take a look at the city. He was shocked to see that it was completely destroyed and noticed a human fighting three Grand King Beasts with his saber while using small blades to kill the weaker Wave Beasts so they could not follow them.

Days went by, and the population of Ocean Gem City advanced without rest, but even then, the explosions did not seem to grow distant, as if they followed them. Of course, the constant sense of threat generated a tremendous psychological impact on the civilians, but thanks to Sandwellʼs sharp gaze and the soldiersʼ guidance, they were able to avoid panic and continue advancing.

Finally, after four days, explosions and bestial roars vanished. Still, silence did not make people feel safer since it could only mean that the beasts had managed to overcome the Godslayer Human and were on their way to devour them all.

Luckily, before fear and panic could affect the stability of the people, a figure appeared in the sky, and it was none other than the Godslayer Human who had saved them all and had been facing the endless horde of Wave Beasts emerging from the Endless Ocean.

”The horde has stopped advancing, so you are safe.”

Cainʼs eyes were sharp, and his vitality was vibrant, but there was no way to disguise the dozens of open wounds all around his body, and the fact he was having a hard time regulating his breathing proved just how tired he was. After all, he had faced dozens of Grand King Beasts over the last few days and butchered dozens of millions of Wave Beasts with Blood Nails.

Although the battle took a tremendous toll on his body, a smile appeared on the Scarlet Kingʼs face as he saw how people looked at him, as if he was a savior.

There were two reasons why the Scarlet King headed into the coastal city.

First, the fact that the Scarlet King followed the Path of Order did not make him an evil person, nor did it mean he lacked some sort of empathy. He did care about people; it was just that their life and death could not really shake his mind and heart. If there was a chance to save them without risking his life, he would do it.

The second and most important reason was that while the Deus Behemoth Race was an allied race, he was still an intruder who violated the empireʼs borders. Saving all these people would buy him a lot of goodwill when the time came to present himself to the higher-ups from the Deus Behemoth Empire.

Sandwell was just as thankful as everybody else, so he immediately sent a command to his troops when he noticed the manʼs gaze.

”Everybody, we will rest for tonight.”

A smile appeared on soldiers and civilians since they were exhausted due to the physical pressure and psychological burden and could finally rest.

After seeing everything in order, Sandwell flew to the sky until he stood before the Godslayer Human and performed a deep bow.

”I am Sandwell Sonk. I thank you in the name of Ocean Gem City since, without your help, millions would have perished. If there is anything I can do to help you, please do not hesitate to ask me.”

Cain softly nodded as he saw the manʼs attitude. Despite the curiosity in his eyes, the Deus Behemoth made no effort to discover his true identity. Clearly, the gratitude in his heart was enough to shut down all those questions, at least for the time being.

However, Cain had nothing to hide, and actually, revealing his identity would make things easier for him.

”I can see the doubts in your eyes, so allow me to answer the question in your mind before proceeding to more pressing matters. I am Cain Laurifer, Colonel of the Imperial Army of the Godslayer Humankind Empire. I landed on your continent a few days ago due to a fortuitous encounter, and you are the first Deus Behemoth I have made contact with.”

After uttering those words, Cain took a special crystal card with all his military information.

Sandwell could not help but smile after hearing Cainʼs name and seeing that the man was part of an allyʼs military. Although there were still questions like how Cain ended up so far from Gaia, he was smart enough not to ask those sorts of things since they could reveal personal secrets, and the man had already told enough.

”Colonel Laurifer, if this is the first time in the Hyperion Continent and we are the first people you have met, then it is fair to assume you donʼt have a military topographic map of the Deus Behemoth Empire.”
