The Epic Tale of Chaos vs Order

Chapter 274 : Splitting lightning

Cain was not lying, as it indeed would take too long to relay the information to the group. The time window was too small for Shura and the nine Blood Champions to move simultaneously.

Actually, the one doing the analysis was not him but Apex. The System Spirit used the [A.I. Chip Module] to analyze all the meteorologic information before sharing it with Cain. Although the delay from one person to the other was just fractions of a second, it added up.

Surin and the other Blood Champions saw how Cain managed to move less than half a second before the lightning pillar fell, so they were sure he was telling the truth. There was not much they could do, so they just prepared to march forward when they saw Shura exiting the formation.

”My Lady?”

Surin immediately grew worried when he saw Shura moving away from them. She was an Early Essence Wave Champion, and her body could not endure the power of the pillars of lightning falling from the sky.

Before any of the Blood Champions could say another word, she raised her hand, signaling them to stop.

”Now that I am not in it, you will no longer have to protect me, making it easier for you all to face the lightning.”

Surin and the rest of the Blood Champions were surprised when they heard that, and awkward expressions appeared on their faces. Although the goal of the formation was to divide the power of the lighting between all of them, the Blood Champions were actually overexerting themselves in order to enhance the defenses of Shura.

Now that the formation only contained Surin and the other eight Blood Champions, all Late Wave Champions, it would be much easier to face the lightning pillars.

The Blood Champions wanted to say something, but it was clear that Shura did not intend to hear them, and she just stood beside Cain.

”Since I am alone, I should be able to act fast enough if I follow your instructions.”

Cain stared at Shura for a moment and saw the determination in the young womanʼs eyes.

”We will advance together. Follow my instructions without hesitation, or else I can not guarantee you can reach the peak.”

Shura nodded and then felt how Cain established a telepathic link with her before both flashed forward at supersonic speed.

Surin and the rest of the Blood Champions were not happy about leaving the safety of Shura in Cainʼs hands, but there was nothing they could do other than move forward. Now that they did not have to worry about Shura, the group could advance much faster, and those lightning pillars with the might of a Wave Kingʼs spells could not do much damage to their bodies.

”¡BOOM!” ”¡BOOM!” ”¡BOOM!” ”¡BOOM!” ”¡BOOM!”

Cain and Shura advanced to the peak of Skyfall Mountain. They moved in highly irregular patterns with all kinds of turns, but it helped them evade all the lightning pillars that fell from the heavens.

It did not take long for Cain, Shura, and the Blood Champions to see the mountainʼs peak, thanks to their improved speed. In it, they saw a sky-blue lightning force field.

The name of that sky-blue lightning force field was Life Force Lighting Domain. In it, the aspect of the Law of Lightning concerning its healing and tempering power reached an extreme.

They could rest once they reached the Life Force Lightning Domain, but no one lowered their guards since the frequency at which the lightning pillars fell increased the more they rose.

Cain and Shura had just flashed forward, dodging a lightning strike, when the eyes of the first widened.

”A new lightning arc will fall just where that woman is about to land!”

Cain heard Apexʼs frantic voice in his mind and knew he would not be able to warn Shura in time. The new lightning pillar had charged as they moved, so it would fall before Shura could make a move.

Although the new lightning pillar would have less strength than the other due to the proximity to the last one, it would still be too much for the young woman to handle.

Shuraʼs feet had just touched the ground when a feeling of immense danger assaulted her. She looked to the sky and saw a flash of light, but just as the lightning pillar was about to crash on her with the might to obliterate an entire building, a hand grabbed her shoulder and pushed her to the ground.

Shock appeared on Shuraʼs face when she saw Cain appearing, but she did not understand why he would move toward her. It was clear to the young woman that Cain detected the lightning too late, but they were still both in the strike range.

Just as the lightning pillar was about to fall, Shura saw Cainʼs eyes explode with a majestic red light mightier than ever before as he gathered every ounce of Blood Energy and Astral Wave into his right hand in less than a second!

”¡BOOM!”

Thunder echoed across Skyfall Mountain, and the Blood Champions saw how a pillar of lightning fell on top of Shura and Cain.

”MY LADY!”

Surin shouted, and terror assaulted his heart when he thought the damage that pillar of lightning would do to Shura, but then his eyes widened with shock and awe.

The reaction of the other Blood Champions was the same, as they could not believe what they were seeing.

Cainʼs right hand had turned into a blood gem bathed in dark force coated with an insane amount of Astral Wave and Blood Energy, and he used it as a blade to split the lightning pillar!

The amount of destructive power in Cainʼs right hand was outlandish, but it could not endure the might of the pillar of lightning. Less than half a second had passed since the clash of both forces before the skin of Cainʼs arm was charred by the lightningʼs power.

Cain felt immense pain, but that only made the red light in his eyes burst with even greater might. Just as he felt that his arm would shatter under the force of that lightning, his Astral Wave burst with power.

The Astral Wave of Cain increased exponentially, allowing him to split the lightning pillar in half!

Silence reigned in Skyfall Mountain as Shura and the Blood Champion were astonished by what they just saw. A young Wave Warrior managed to split apart a pillar of lightning with power above the Wave Champion Rank!

Cain did not say a word before raising Shura from the ground, putting her on his back, and flashing at full speed toward the sky-blue lightning domain on the mountainʼs peak.

Shuraʼs heart was still filled with shock, which is why she was not able to react to Cainʼs actions. Although staying on the young manʼs back was undoubtedly faster, she was not comfortable with that type of intimacy, which is why she had not proposed it before.

She did not like it, but after Shura saw Cainʼs bloody and scorched arm, she chose to remain silent.

Surin and the rest of the Blood Champions frowned when they saw how close Cain was with Shura, but they were not in a position to speak and simply moved forward, not leaving the duo behind.

Cain advanced so fast that it took him and Shura less than a minute to enter the sky-blue lightning domain, putting them away from danger.

Shura was about to tell Cain to let go of her when this one fell to the ground, bringing her with him. A cold light appeared in her eyes as she immediately moved away from Cain.

One thing was her staying on Cainʼs back as they rose to the mountainʼs peak, but laying together on the ground was something completely different.

However, just as Shura was about to unleash her rage, she noticed Cainʼs eyes were out of focus.

ʼHe felt unconscious!ʼ

The Blood Champions reached the sky-blue lightning domain a few seconds after the duo, and they immediately noticed Cainʼs state.

It became clear for Shura and the Blood Champions that whatever Cain did to enhance his Astral Wave in such an outlandish way had some drawbacks.

”Martin.”

Shura called one of the Blood Champions, who immediately approached Cain before putting a hand over the young manʼs chest.

Martinʼs hand began to glow as a red fog extended over Cainʼs body. A flash of surprise appeared on his face as he turned toward Shura.

”My Lady, there are severe internal wounds left by the clash with the lightning pillar, but a golden flame inside his body is already healing the damage. That, plus the effect of the Life Force Lighting Domain, should be enough to help him completely recover in a few days.”

Shura nodded toward Martin, and she stared at Cain for a moment before adopting a meditative position next to him.

Strange expressions appeared on the Blood Champions when they saw that, but none said anything and just focused on recovering from their injuries.
