Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

After the Second Trial, Merlin the Mad had seemingly vanished from the public eye.

Or rather, this persona had now stepped back for the moment. Constantine the Tyrant had returned. He remained inside his dorm room in Saratoga, sleeping for as long as he possibly could.

The raven-haired youth made no effort to join the other contestants in their victory celebrations, nor did he attend any social gatherings held in the days leading to the Final Trial.

He just wanted to rest. Besides, he had a strange feeling that his party members wouldn’t want to meet him after they’d witnessed the bloody massacre he had caused. He didn’t mind either way.

On the second day after returning from the secret plane, Adam found himself comfortably lying on the bed, wrapped in a warm blanket. His face seemed calm and peaceful, but the slight twitching of his eyelids betrayed the unrest in his mind.

Adam was still trying to comprehend how he had done what he had done inside the secret plane.

Mowing through hundreds of Mana Liquefaction-level blood beasts and countless more Mana Foundation-level beasts had taken a toll on him not just physically, but also mentally.

Such depth of slaughter was sure to stain a man’s mind with blood. Even though he was killing mindless beasts, it still affected his state of mind.

Adam had never killed so many… beings at once, after all. But more than that, he never knew he was even capable of such a feat.

It all had to do with the Phantom Dance.

All this while, he had never paid much attention to this aspect of the Astral Tyrant Manual. In fact, he hadn’t paid much attention to this physique enhancement codex at all.

He simply focused his all on studying magic spells and comprehending the profound mysteries of the Way.

The Astral Tyrant Manual… that was something he practiced passively, as he never had to rely much on it.

But now he was beginning to realize that this technique held far more than met the eye.

Setting aside the ingenious path of advancement in the physqiue enhancement system, the tyrannical techniques of the Hand of Doom, and the elusive footwork technique of the Stellar Steps, just the inclusion of the Phatom Dance alone made the Astral Tyrant Manual immeasurably valuable in his eyes.

In the end, the very thing he had paid the least attention to turned out to be the most precious of them all.

Even in deep sleep, he subconsciously tried to recreate the feeling of wielding the Phantom Dance as he weaved through the horde of blood beasts.

He was trying to figure out why he had done what he did… and how exactly he had done it.

However, that feeling remained as fleeting as a phantom at twilight, when the mind stood suspended between dreams and wakefulness.

Adam still couldn’t hold onto that feeling.

He slowly opened his eyes, his vision slightly blurry. Seeing the familiar stone ceiling of his dorm room, he took a deep breath and sighed.

The raven-haired youth scanned his cozy dorm room. It was warm, safe, and peaceful. It was utterly unlike the brutal carnage of the secret plane behind him, or the looming storm of chaos yet to come.

As the days slipped by and the Grand Magus Tournament drew to a close, a creeping sense of foreboding began to tighten its claw around Adam’s heart.

This time… the feeling was very intense, greater than anything he’d ever felt before.

In his youth, he had faced a reawakened vampire far stronger than himself, participated in a war against the orcs, and even stood against the powerful Gracie Family.

As a young man, he had battled a werewolf one entire rank above him, fought off the cultists in Blackshore, and triumphed despite being heavily outnumbered.

Yet, the sense of unease and foreboding he had felt during those perilous times paled in comparison to what he was feeling at the moment.

It was like a dark, unseen claw had seized his heart and refused to let go, and with each passing day, its grip only tightened.

A strange, unnerving thought appeared within his mind:

Am I… going to die?

Adam’s expression turned cold, his eyes flashing with ruthlessness.

For now, he had to set aside the mysteries of the Phantom Dance and focus on the matters at hand.

That thing I found inside the Mother of Flesh…

He thought with grim apprehension.

So that is what caused the abomination to increase its strength by leaps and bounds.

That should have also been the reason for the rapid procreation of the blood beasts throughout the secret plane.

But the question is…

A dark scowl appeared on his face.

How were they able to make secret arrangements deep within the territory of Saratoga?

Either somewhere higher up within the Saratoga has been compromised, or…

He got down from the bed and headed towards the tall, arched window. Gazing at the distant valley with an unreadable expression on his face, he mumbled:

”The origin of the Mother of Flesh is highly suspicious…”

Right at that moment, a raven flew towards his window and perched on the outer ledge. It gazed at Adam with its dark eyes that flickered with a spark of intelligence.

”You have been summoned, Constantine!” The bird repeated the statement two more times before flapping its wings and flying away, disappearing behind one of the many turrets.

”Good timing,” Adam muttered under his breath.

He quickly freshened up and got dressed, donning a white, silk robe.. He, too, needed to report his findings to the Heasmaster. And not only that… he also wanted to find out how there were absolutely zero casualties inside the secret plane.

Given that the cult had tampered with the blood beasts within the secret plane, Adam figured there would be a lot of contestants perishing inside.

But surprisingly, none had died.

Casting a concealment spell on himself, he exited his dorm room and made his way towards the heart of the castle. He was in no mood to converse with other students and participants at the moment.

Soon, he arrived before the towering stone doors that led to the Headmaster’s office. Before he even had the chance to knock on them, the doors opened by themself, allowing him to enter.

Adam took a deep breath and stepped inside. There was a lot he needed to discuss with the mighty Headmaster of Saratoga.

The moment he walked into the room, however, his eyebrows rose in surprise.

He had not expected to meet this person here at all…
