Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1617 Permission

Watching Adamʼs actions, Nylian couldnʼt help but smile.

Despite the Dark King having become significantly more powerful than him, Adam always respected his station as the Headmaster of Saratoga and the Lord of Ravenfell.

It was but a small gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the young man standing before him. Power had not changed Adam. Even after everything he had endured, he remained the same youth who understood the value of respect and order.

Nylian Feno nodded slowly. ”You have my permission,” he said.

With Adam killing seven of the Cultʼs Mana Core Magi- one of them even being an Elder of the Inner Circle, the war had officially begun.

The Acadian Empire had declared war against the Cult of Bones.

So what was the point of holding back?

Besides, Nylian knew that the Dark King was incomplete without the Black Legion.

And the brave warriors of this elite order were desperate for a chance to prove themselves to Adam, to earn back the honor they had lost.

Once, the men of the Black Legion had denounced the Dark King. They had hated him, cursed his name, and turned their backs on the very man they had once followed into battle without hesitation.

Some of them had even been among those who drove their blades into his chest at the end of the Battle of Ravenfell...

But now that the truth had come to life, the weight of their actions had begun to thoroughly crush their hearts.

More than anything else, they wished to seek Adamʼs forgiveness, even if the only way to do so was to offer their lives on the battlefield by his side. ”Thank you, Headmaster.” Adam smiled. ”Rest assured, I wonʼt take the entire order with me,” he added. ”Most of them will stay back in the city and keep watch.”

He then turned to Lucian, who was still savoring the sake, and said: ”Your Grace, I seek your permission to gather the bravest and most powerful Mana Vortex Magi across the Empire. Whether theyʼre from the Four Pillars or even the downtrodden slums, it does not matter.”

He paused for a moment, then continued, ”Tomorrow, I will gather a few men of the Black Legion and then begin my march south a couple of days later. Along the way, I will recruit men from great factions of Acadia.”

Lucian readily agreed.

Adam was the sword of the Empire. Naturally, he would allow the youth to gather the finest warriors the Empire had to offer.

After all, this would be the vanguard of their war against the Cult.

Adam would have no difficulty gathering men.

After witnessing the public hearing, as well as the battle that followed against the cultists, the people of the Empire had seen the truth with their own eyes.

The legend of the Dark King had not only been restored...

It had been reborn.

Across the great cities of Acadia, word of the battle was already spreading like wildfire.

When the call to arms came, there would be no shortage of volunteers. In fact, many would likely compete with one another for the chance to stand beneath Adamʼs banner.

For countless Magi and warriors alike, marching beside the Dark King into battle against the Cult of Bones would be the greatest honor they could hope for. ”Iʼll send word.” Lucian nodded. ”Youʼll have everything you need.”

He placed the sake cup down and couldnʼt help but arch his brow. ”But why south?”

Adamʼs lips curled into a smirk. He then explained his motive to Nylian and Lucian.

A few moments later, the elf couldnʼt help but exclaim. ”Thereʼs such a thing in there?” ”Indeed, Headmaster.” Adam laughed. ”Iʼve seen it with my own eyes. Itʼs... beautiful.” ”But wonʼt you be breaking your oath?” Nylain shot him a dubious glance. ”Ah, semantics, semantics!” Adam nonchalantly waved his hand. ”This is for the future generation of Tron, yeah? Iʼm sure Iʼll be fine.” ”Anyway.” His expression turned solemn.

He deeply looked at the two Mana Core Magi and said in a grim voice, ”In a few months, Iʼll be gone. And my war campaign on the other side of the Galestine may take me several years.”

Adam paused briefly. ”It is imperative that you remain in constant touch with the Old Man,” he said. ”Iʼve sent him the blueprints, the knowledge, and practically every other thing that should help him with laying the foundation.” ”If he needs more resources, Iʼll provide them to him,” Lucian assured. ”And Iʼll assist in any way I can.” Nylian nodded.

Adam heaved a long sigh and smiled. ”Thank you... both of you.”

Nylian stepped forward and placed a gentle hand on his shoulder. ”You must be tired after today,” he said with a faint smile. ”Your cottage in the Verdant Valley has been unoccupied all this time. It still belongs to you, Adam.

Go. Rest.”

Adam offered a faint, genuine smile. He thanked the Headmaster, then soon left after bidding farewell to the two. ***

Black Bastion, Downtown Quarter.

Just a short distance away from Council Keep stood the Black Bastion. It was the stronghold of the Black Legion, an imposing fortress of dark stone whose towering walls and iron gates reflected the strength of Ravenfellʼs elite warriors.

More than a mere military post, it stood as a symbol of the cityʼs might and a silent warning to anyone who would dare threaten it.

But today, the atmosphere in the courtyard inside was tense...

Their former Lord Commander was visiting them, after all.

The Magi of the Black Legion stood in disciplined rows across the vast courtyard. From a distance, their formation looked flawless and awe-inspiring, but up close... the truth was clear.

Many of these brave men who had survived hundreds of battles were utterly nervous. Some trembled visibly. While others clenched their jaws so tightly that their teeth nearly clattered.

Standing on the raised platform before them, the Lord Marshall of Ravenfell and also the current Lord Commander of the Black Legion, Daniel Ranzenberg, waited patiently.

Although he couldnʼt help but be mildly annoyed at how his men were acting like little children. He couldnʼt blame them, however. He understood their feelings all too well.

Then, at last, the massive gates of the fortress slowly opened.

Before anyone entered, the sound of laughter spilled into the courtyard.

And then...

A young man in dark robes, and wearing a black, pointed hat, stepped inside.
