Greatest Legacy of the Magus Universe

Chapter 1483  Outclassed

Adamʼs dark pupils gleamed beneath the Faceless Mask.

He could clearly see Damonʼs dagger move, and from that, he could predict its path and where it was most likely to strike.

The raven-haired youthʼs vision had sharpened strategically, almost like an extreme refinement of his Sphere of Resonance.

He smiled as he raised his left hand. It appeared to move slowly, yet it left afterimages. The back of his wrist struck Damonʼs forearm, swatting away the dagger aimed at his neck.

Adam then took a step forward and delivered a claw strike with his right hand.

Hand of Doom: Coiling Palm Strike!

He struck Damon in the chest. At the moment of impact, he twisted his palm. The force of the strike tore Damonʼs garments open at the back, and a visible gust of wind burst violently outward from him.

The Councilorʼs eyes widened in shock and fear as he coughed up spit and blood.

If it had been a Mana Vortex Magus, Adamʼs strike would have obliterated their upper body. However, Damon was a Mana Core Magus with a far stronger constitution and much greater mana control.

Besides... Adam wasnʼt planning on killing Damon, anyway.

Even so, despite reinforcing his chest with mana at the last second, Adamʼs blow still did serious damage.

Worse still, the force didnʼt stop at the surface. It traveled inward, tearing through his body, churning his organs, and making his blood roil violently.

Gritting his teeth through the pain, Damon desperately tried to wrench himself free from Adamʼs grasp.

He saw Adam follow up with a devastating kick. At the last moment, he activated an artifact and dissolved into shadows. Adam halted his kick mid-motion with startling control.

Damon reappeared from the shadow of a corpse, clutching his chest as blood spilled from his mouth. He saw Adam calmly lower his leg and stand there nonchalantly in the distance.

It felt like the masked man wasnʼt fighting a mighty Mana Core Magus, but someone casually strolling through a park.

For a brief moment, the figure of yet another person overlapped with Adamʼs in Damonʼs vision. He had sparred with this person a long time ago and had been thoroughly put in his place.

Adamʼs prowess reminded Damon of that man…

The man known as the Blood Lord!

”Who are you?!” The Councilor spat through gritted teeth. ”And what do you want?”

”Hmm.” Adam tilted his head. ”You use shadow magic and move like an assassin. Perhaps… youʼre from the Shadowblades? Youʼre its leader, arenʼt you?”

Damonʼs eyes narrowed, his pupils constricting.

”Haha, I guess I was right.” Adam let out a light chuckle. ”I hit the jackpot! Were you the one to kill the elven Councilor? The Old Man said he didnʼt, and I believe him.”

Damonʼs heart skipped a beat. ”Just who are you?”

For someone to not only know about the existence of the Shadowblades but also know about the assassination of Vulwin Preskian, they had to be someone high-up within the Brotherhood.

But Damon already knew everyone in the upper echelons of the organization. He knew for certain that Adam wasnʼt the head of the Reformers or the Free Agents. Their leaders were old, decrepit Magi. Furthermore, there was no new Mana Core Magus in the Preservationists, or he would have known by now.

So who was Adam?

The fact that Damon couldnʼt discern Adamʼs true face and identity sent a chill through his heart. The fear of the unknown was, after all, the most dreadful of all. And right now, he was facing something he couldnʼt name, couldnʼt read, and couldnʼt understand.

”I told you,” said the raven-haired youth with a smile. ”I am no one.”

Before his words had even finished echoing, he had vanished from his spot and reappeared right in front of Damon. He skilfully grabbed the latterʼs hands, stopping him from activating the artifact again.

”Donʼt cause a ruckus,” he said politely as he viciously forced Damonʼs arms wide apart. ”I told you we donʼt want to upset the big guyʼs stomach.”

BAM!

Adam delivered a brutal knee to Damonʼs stomach, knocking the wind out of him in a single, crushing blow.

The Councilor collapsed to his knees, clutching his gut, desperately trying to draw breath but failing. Fear gripped his heart, for he had never been this outmatched in his life.

Adam then stomped on his face, smashing him down to the fleshy floor. And to add more insult to the injury, he casually took a seat on Damonʼs back.

”Please, letʼs be civil.” He chuckled lightly. ”Donʼt cast spells. Donʼt use artifacts. The big guyʼs very irascible. Remember, Iʼm just borrowing his stomach. Ehh, although heʼs one of the weakest serpents in the Coil, heʼs still got a mean temper.”

Weakest serpent? Damon felt a chill run down his spine.

Is this masked man fucking crazy?!

How can a Mana Core-level existence be weak!

He finally managed to draw a few raspy breaths and muttered, ”I-Iʼll tell you everything you need to know, just… just let me go!”

”Hmm.” Adam stroked his chin. ”How am I supposed to trust your words? Youʼre my enemy, the Old Man seems to hate your guts, and youʼre also a spy for the Cult. Any one of those reasons is enough to end your life. So, Lord Councilor, why should I let you go?”

Damonʼs eyes flickered with a cunning light, but the next moment, he was filled with shock.

”Didnʼt I tell you not to cause a ruckus?” Adamʼs cold words echoed in his ears.

The raven-haired youth had just pressed a few pressure points on Damonʼs shoulders, instantly making his arms go limp. Just moments ago, the Councilor had been secretly attempting to activate yet another artifact. But he failed again.

Terror.

Sheer terror flooded Damonʼs veins.

Until now, he had still believed he had a chance of getting out of this situation alive. But again and again, the masked man had shown him just how outclassed he was.

He was a mighty Mana Core Magus, the pinnacle of strength in Tron. And yet, he was being toyed with in this manner.

”Just who the hell are you?!” Damon blurted out in fear.

Adam sighed helplessly. ”I told you… Iʼm no one.”

”Iʼll tell you everything!” Damon begged for mercy — something he didnʼt think heʼd ever have to do. ”Just… let me go! Please! Spare me!”

”I donʼt need you to tell me everything,” Adam murmured. ”I can never trust a word you say.”

He stretched his right hand and gripped the elderly manʼs head.

”There are far better ways to get the answers I need,” Adam added coldly.

Damonʼs eyes rolled back, and he lost consciousness.

Adam closed his eyes and broke through his mind.

In the next moment…

The two of them stood inside Damonʼs spirit sea.
