House Dad's Literary Life

Chapter 398: The Plot Of The New Movie

After marriage, life was actually not much different from before. Perhaps it was because Yang Yi and Mo Fei’s cohabitation had been similar to that of a normal couple before?

The next day, Mo Fei returned to her company to continue working, while Yang Yi took Xixi to kindergarten and then came back to continue writing his novels “Prison Break” and “Yu Zui.”

These two books were still popular online. However, Yang Yi had a plan to speed up the process and send out the remaining drafts, aiming to complete these two books as soon as possible. Then, he could devote more energy into the Sahara Publishing House. Anyway, as long as he didn’t publish his works on other websites and instead released them through the publishing house, he wouldn’t be violating his contract with Qiyue.

To be honest, Yang Yi initially chose Qiyue mainly because of its simple structure and quick returns. However, he didn’t like to update every day. That kind of work state made him feel constrained. Moreover, he didn’t really have many literary works in his mind that were suitable for online publication and serialization. Now that he had his own publishing house, Yang Yi planned to publish books directly!

However, Yang Yi didn’t get a chance to relax today, because just as he sat down in the coffee shop, Du Yuanlei came looking for him.

“Teacher Yang, I’m ready!” Du Yuanlei, sitting across from Yang Yi, no longer looked as haggard as she had a few days ago. She looked radiant, even wearing a light lipstick, looking very confident and spirited.

Yang Yi looked at Du Yuanlei with appreciation, then smiled slightly and said, “Let me tell you the general plot of the movie first. Listen to it and see if it suits you.”

“Rudy is a habitual bank robber with a long criminal record, and he is a key target of police officer Du Jiang’s surveillance. Du Jiang believes that people like Rudy only know how to rob banks and nothing else. He doesn’t believe that he will turn over a new leaf, even though Rudy had just been released after serving five years in prison.”

Du Yuanlei listened attentively, jotting down notes in her little notebook.

“But in reality, this long prison life had made Rudy fearful. Having just been released, he cherished the air of freedom and wanted to lead a normal life! However, Du Jiang didn’t believe it and even picked Rudy up upon his release, warning him not to make mistakes — unless he wanted to be thrown right back in!”

“Rudy couldn’t be bothered to pay attention to Du Jiang and wasn’t willing to explain much. He asked Du Jiang to take him to the bank, intending to deposit the little money he had earned while working in prison. But ironically, while at the bank, he gets caught up in a bank robbery!”

Yang Yi spoke eloquently, and Du Yuanlei was captivated by the story. A freshly released bank robber gets caught in the middle of another bank robbery, while a police officer is determined to put him back behind bars. The story seemed ripe for many hilarious misunderstandings.

……

While Yang Yi was telling stories, Xixi was at kindergarten, excitedly sharing with her little friends the story of her parents’ proposal over the weekend!

“My Papa played the piano and sang a song for my Mama, and then, then I took out a box and gave it to my Papa, and my Mama said yes…” Xixi’s description was a bit lacking, but her friends listened intently.

“Your dad can sing too?” Lan Xin asked enviously, tugging at Xixi’s little hand.

Why did other people’s dads seem so good? Her own dad didn’t seem to know how to do anything.

“Yes! My Papa sings really well!” Xixi nodded vigorously, her little face showing pride.

“My dad didn’t propose to my mom; I don’t even remember. They seemed to have always lived together.” Nan Zhaoyu furrowed his brows, puzzled.

Of course, he couldn’t remember; he hadn’t been born when his parents got married.

Xixi kindly said, “Then, then you should tell your Papa and Mama! Boys and girls need to get married to live together.”

“Okay…” Nan Zhaoyu nodded with a frown, feeling a bit dejected, as if he suddenly felt that “Mom and Dad weren’t good kids.”

“My dad and mom got married. There’s a big wedding photo on their bed.” Yang Luoqi chimed in, her thoughts clear. Perhaps her parents had told her stories about their past.

But Xixi was still lost in her thoughts and didn’t respond.

“Ah, my Papa and Mama even kissed! My Papa said boys and girls can’t kiss if they’re not married!” Xixi remembered what her father had told her correctly this time and happily shared it with her friends.

“But my cousin kissed me during the New Year,” Chen Shiyun said, looking confused.

“No, no, that’s not allowed!” Xixi quickly waved her hands, speaking very seriously. “Chen Shiyun, you have to tell him it’s not allowed!”

“Well, Nan Zhaoyu, you can’t kiss me either!” Lan Xin suddenly huffed and said, “My dad said that boys can’t kiss me!”

“But, but when we play house, aren’t we pretending to be the mommy and daddy? Mommy and daddy can kiss!” Nan Zhaoyu said, feeling a bit wronged.

“Ahem!” Teacher Mu, who had been watching with a smile, finally intervened. She walked over, patted Nan Zhaoyu’s shoulder, and gently said, “Actually, what Xixi and Xin’er said isn’t wrong. You really shouldn’t kiss just anyone. And remember, if anyone wants to kiss you, whether they’re an adult or a child, you have to tell them: ‘That’s not allowed, you need to ask my dad for permission first.’”

“Hehe, my Papa said the same thing,” Xixi bounced up and down, saying happily.

“Okay…” Nan Zhaoyu felt a little down.

However, being kids, their topic quickly shifted. Chen Shiyun started talking about how she went to watch a boxing match with her father over the weekend, and the group’s attention was immediately diverted.

After a while, the class began. Today, it was Teacher Cai who would be teaching the children their English lesson.

Starting this semester, the children were beginning to be introduced to English. However, they didn’t need to learn how to write English words just yet, nor did they have to study complex phonetics. Instead, they followed the teacher to learn some pronunciations and names of common objects.

“Children, look, what’s this?” Teacher Cai held up a small flashcard.

“Apple!” the children called out in unison.

There were also mischievous children, like Chen Shiyun, who raised her hand and giggled while teasing, “No, it’s not an apple, it’s a big watermelon!”

Fortunately, everyone was used to it, and Teacher Cai ignored her response.

“That’s right, it’s an apple! In English, it’s pronounced ‘apple’. Everyone, repeat after me: a~pple!” Teacher Cai said with a smile, slowing down her speech and exaggerating her mouth movements to help the children mimic her.

“Ai-po!”

“Ei-po!”

Then various whimsical pronunciations began.

Xixi, having grown up in the U.S. for a while, understood some English and could pronounce it correctly. But seeing her friends’ attempts, she couldn’t help but giggle.

Her accent started getting influenced too, as she mimicked Lan Xin calling it “Ai pu” repeatedly.

The two little girls leaned on each other, laughing uncontrollably, swaying left and right.
