Chapter 114: Viscount of Azazel

They woke up early the next day and resumed their march. The sun rose steadily in the sky as they moved forward. The following days passed smoothly, with no issues arising along the way.

The army marched in disciplined lines, fueled by the excitement of nearing their destination. Finally, after days of travel, they arrived at the city of Azazel.

As they entered, Julian was struck by the beauty of the city. It was located in a valley and surrounded by tall, lush hills. The sight of greenery and well made streets filled him with a sense of peace.

Unlike many other cities, poverty was nowhere to be seen. Every corner of Azazel radiated prosperity and well-being.

The reason for this flourishing state was none other than the Viscount of Azazel, a loyal and righteous man who had led his people with wisdom and fairness.

His dedication to the welfare of the citizens created a strong bond of trust and respect between them. Even though he held the title of a viscount, his presence was equal to that of the king to the citizens of Azazel.

As they reached the city, the king gathered the four dukes and made his way to the viscountʼs castle. It was a majestic structure that stood proudly at the center of Azazel.

As they walked through the city, the citizens were filled with awe and gratitude as they knelt and bowed before their king. Some even shed tears of joy at the sight of him. Others whispered thanks to the heavens for blessing them with the presence of the king.

The scene was a extremely rare moment that many would cherish for a lifetime. It was not every day that the king and the four dukes, powerful figures in the kingdom, moved together through the city.

The citizens felt a sense of pride and hope as they watched, their hearts swelling with loyalty to their leader.

As they continued their walk to the castle, the atmosphere buzzed with excitement. Children peeked out from behind their parents, eager to catch a glimpse of the royal party, while older citizens exchanged knowing smiles, remembering tales of past kings and battles.

The presence of the king and dukes ignited a spark of inspiration among the people, reminding them of the strength and courage that lay within their kingdom.

Finally, they arrived at the viscountʼs castle, a symbol of stability and righteousness in Azazel.

As they reached the grand entrance of the castle, a man with striking black hair and warm brown eyes stood waiting alongside a lady who shared his dark hair but had enchanting blue eyes. They were the viscount and viscountess of Azazel, and their presence radiated a sense of honor and grace.

Upon seeing the king and the dukes approach, both the viscount and viscountess dropped to their knees, paying their respects.

”Your Majesty, your graces,” they said in unison, their voices filled with reverence. ”We welcome you to the humble abode of your loyal follower.”

The sincerity in their words echoed through the courtyard, emphasizing their unwavering loyalty and respect for the royal family.

The king raised his hand, signaling for them to rise. ”You have served our kingdom well, Viscount of Azazel. Your dedication has not gone unnoticed,” he replied, his voice carrying authority and warmth.

The viscount and viscountess stood, their faces reflecting pride and gratitude for the kingʼs acknowledgment.

As they entered the castle, the luxurious interior contrasted with the viscountʼs humble demeanor. The halls were adorned with rich decorations and intricate designs, showcasing the prosperity of Azazel under the viscountʼs leadership.

Julian and Marcus trailed behind the king and the dukes as they made their way to the grand hall It was a majestic space where the king and dukes took their seats upon ornate thrones.

The viscount and viscountess stood respectfully in front of them, their demeanor a mix of honor and anticipation.

”Forgive me, Your Majesty, for such a bland welcome,” the viscount said with a hint of concern in his voice as he bowed his head slightly.

He was clearly anxious about not being able to provide a more elaborate greeting for such esteemed guests.

The king, however waved his hand dismissively with a reassuring smile on his face.

”Donʼt be humble, Viscount. I am already impressed by your loyalty and warm welcome. Your actions speak volumes about your character and dedication to our kingdom,” he replied, his voice resonating with sincerity.

Hearing the kingʼs kind words, the viscountʼs expression softened, and he felt a sense of relief wash over him. This acknowledgment from the king was not only a validation of his efforts but also a proof to the strong bond of loyalty between them.

The king chuckled and asked, ”And where are your daughters, Viscount?”

The viscount replied with a polite smile, ”Theyʼve gone to visit their grandmotherʼs house, Your Majesty.”

The king let out a hearty laugh. ”Ah, yes! Let the young ones travel and enjoy themselves while they can,” he said, nodding. ”They should experience the world before the responsibilities of life come upon them.”

The king then addressed the viscount, ”We need to use the teleportation array to make our way to Siracusa.”

The viscount bowed respectfully and replied, ”Your Majesty, everything is prepared. We can proceed whenever you wish.”

The king gave an approving nod, a hint of satisfaction in his eyes. ”You truly are a loyal and trusted follower, Viscount. I am grateful for your dedication.”

The viscount bowed deeply and said, ”Your Majesty, it is my utmost duty and privilege to serve the throne with loyalty.”

The king was clearly moved by the sincerity in the viscountʼs words. He looked at him with great admiration. He paused for a moment, as if weighing his decision carefully, before he spoke again.

”Viscount of Azazel,” the king began ”Your loyalty and dedication has not gone unnoticed. Your commitment to this kingdom, your people, and your duty is exceptional. You are a great treasure of our kingdom.”

The kingʼs gaze softened as he continued, ”For this reason, I wish to bestow upon you a greater honor.” He raised his voice so that all present could hear his words clearly. ”I hereby lift your status from Viscount to Count.”

A stunned silence fell over the room as the viscount and his wife exchanged shocked glances. The viscountessʼs eyes grew wide with disbelief. She pressed her hand to her mouth hardly able to contain her joy.

The viscount caught off guard by this unexpected honor, took a steadying breath before bowing even lower to the ground.

His voice trembled slightly as he said, ”Your Majesty, I… I am humbled beyond words. This is an honor I had never dreamed of. I will serve the kingdom with even greater dedication and loyalty.”

The king nodded with satisfaction, a warm smile gracing his face as he took in the gratitude of his loyal servant.
