Last Born Of The Desdemona

Chapter 183: Chapter 183: So it begins

Chapter 183 – So it begins

Time slowly passed, and the people of the Badur Kingdom were still talking about the Opening Auction of the Devil’s Auction House.

One would believe the most talked-about things would be the precious Cristo Steel being auctioned at an opening — an item most people didn’t even know existed, showing just how rare it was — or even the fact that so many wealthy and influential people had attended. But no.

It was true that these two aspects were fairly well whispered across the streets, but not nearly as much as the talk about the beauty of those who had attended.

Without any surprise, Cassius and Isolde were the most discussed — having been chosen as the cover for the event, not even Meadow herself — and posted on every platform across the Net. People came to see the full beauty of the Last Born of the Desdemona and his wife and were left completely speechless.

The one who surprised them the most was Isolde Amaris, the Firstborn of the Amaris Household. No one had expected the older sister of Anesthesia to possess that kind of beauty.

To many of them, Isolde’s appearance went beyond simply being beautiful. It was strange, they lacked the words to express it correctly, but they were certain something about her was utterly unique, drawing them to her instinctively, making them feel they would be at complete peace at her side.

Her fanbase increased sharply, and people began to take a greater interest in her life.

But she was not the only one.

Omm Min Jambar had also received a considerable amount of attention. For his serene appearance, yes, but that was overshadowed by the fact that he was the assistant of Meadow Wealth.

Without any surprise, people began investigating his background, wondering where he came from. However, Meadow would not have pushed Omm into the spotlight without having already prepared for this.

Thanks to her connections and influence, she had sealed all information about Omm and his family. She went further than that and arranged a small house in Desde City for the family, all to protect them.

She had initially planned to give them a mansion. It was truly nothing to her. But Omm had literally begged for only a small house and insisted the rent be deducted from his salary. Meadow had insisted she had no need for such spare change, but the Shepherd was adamant.

The young tycoon finally accepted.

However, even with their status changed overnight, Ali and Maryam still wished to work, unwilling, or rather unable, to simply sit idle.

Omm didn’t want his parents working in a high-class area, feeling it was a poor choice. So instead, he used part of his recent payment to buy a small store in the market in Desde City and gave it to his father and mother to run.

The Jambar couple decided to open a small restaurant, cooking and selling dishes known only to their village. They were incredibly happy and exceedingly eager to begin. And since they were no longer truly in need of money thanks to Omm’s new salary from Meadow, they could enjoy their passion without that burden.

That day, the entire Jambar family spent the day in prayer, thanking the Lord for their blessings, and asking not to be among the ungrateful by forgetting where it had come from, or by using their new circumstances wrongly.

And surprisingly, Ali also prayed for Cassius, for his soul was pure, and he deserved the best.

He and Maryam badly wanted to meet Cassius after seeing the cover, but Omm was helpless, telling them that Cassius’s status made such a meeting impossible unless Cassius himself wished it.

They were disappointed but kept a small hope inside them that one day they would meet the one who had literally changed their lives through a single act of kindness.

It had been a small and harmless act — one that had cost Cassius nothing — yet it had given the Jambar family an entirely new life and new opportunities.

They wanted to show their gratitude at any cost. And that was why Maryam came up with a ridiculous idea, remembering something Omm had told them: how he had nearly laughed openly when Cassius asked him what he thought of the eyepatch.

It was a simple interaction, but Maryam had managed to guess something essential about Cassius.

He liked to be praised.

So, with the reluctant help of Omm and the loud, amused laughter of Ali, Maryam created an anonymous account on the Net and put together a list of the most beautiful young men in the Kingdom.

Obviously, she placed Cassius Desdemona at the first spot, posting all the best pictures, and wrote a short description:

”Cassius Desdemona, also known as the Last Born of the Desdemona. Objectively considered the most beautiful man of the current generation. Many knew him as a spoiled young master and even the spawn of the devil. However, that couldn’t be further from the truth. Cassius Desdemona is an angel, and his inside is more beautiful than his outside.”

Maryam had wanted to say more, but her writing skills were limited, and her son was too embarrassed to participate any further.

But it didn’t end there.

After placing Cassius first, she put Raven Hood at second simply because he was related to Cassius. Then she put Klaus at third, because it was well known that he was Cassius’s childhood friend.

Only then did she put Emrys Stormblessed at fourth.

The ranking was ridiculous. And it was exactly because of that that it went completely viral the moment Maryam posted it.

In no time, half the Kingdom had seen the list. Those who disliked the Stormblessed made it even more famous. There were also those who didn’t favour the Desdemona, but objectively...

...Cassius was indeed more handsome than all of them, and no one dared to demote the Prince. And Klaus found himself unexpectedly popular due to his arrogant young master aura, which many women apparently found appealing.

Just like that, the list Maryam had created solely to please Cassius became the officially recognised standard Kingdom Ranking of Male Beauty.

Afterward, people sent her countless messages asking her to do the same for women. Maryam was not particularly interested, but she did it anyway, finding it strangely fun.

She put Isolde Amaris at first, and her little Anesthesia at second. Then Meadow Wealth at third, followed by Esmeray at fourth, Keisha at fifth and Natalia at sixth.

Love de Bayard was at seventh.

The young model, upon seeing the ranking made official yet again, spared no expense trying to find the person behind it.

Of course, Maryam was never found.

Omm had already folded entirely and told Meadow everything. The young CEO placed Maryam’s account inside her own personal network, making it impossible for anyone to hack it or trace its owner.

Once again, Meadow Wealth protected the Jambar Family. At that point, she began to look at them as though they were her own responsibility — which, in reality, they were, since she had been the cause of the sudden public interest in them, and was obliged at the very least to keep them safe.

Then days passed in rapid succession.

More than a hundred people sat the Scholarship Exam, but only three managed to pass and earn the right to take the Official Entrance Test.

And those three were none other than Omm Min Jambar, recorded as holding the Aspect named ’Golden Commander’; Theophane Celeste, recorded as holding the Aspect named ’The Forbidden Seer’; and finally Jurkil Julaibib, a young man from the Julaibib Village close to the Jambar Village, recorded as holding the Aspect named ’Lost Soul’.

All three were talented people the Academy had never expected to emerge from common folk. Even among nobles, they would have been undeniably special.

At that point, the teachers and Dean of the Academy could no longer deny the reality in front of them, and began to whisper it to each other with both apprehension and excitement.

This current generation was, without any single doubt, the Golden Generation — the one that marked the end of an Age, and the beginning of a new one.

And because of that...

”No mercy.”

...the Elysia Academy this year would be unlike anything before.

The stakes were high, and the gods were wide awake, watching and waiting to harvest the fruits of their long work.

Just like that, two more weeks passed.

And the Elysia Academy opened its doors for the Entrance Test.
