Last Born Of The Desdemona

Chapter 150: Chapter 150: My precious

Chapter 150 – My Precious

The kiss didn’t last as long as either of them wanted. Not only because they were in someone else’s home — they weren’t shameless enough to lose themselves entirely in another person’s space — but also because Cassius was slowly reaching his limit.

He needed deep rest after the extensive toll Ananke’s use of his body had taken.

”I will tolerate Ananke.” Isolde said once the kiss ended, their lips still damp from each other’s saliva. ”But you had better tell her to mind how she speaks to you. You are not her beloved. You are my beloved.”

”She is your goddess now too.” Cassius replied, wisely extracting himself from the relationship between his wife and his Goddess. ”You can speak to her directly and she will hear you perfectly well.”

”That makes it even better. I will make sure to pray every night, and be a very willing storyteller, sharing all the details of our lives with her.” She paused, tilting her head with a sly look. ”Perhaps I will even share how we like to spend our time together.”

”Don’t even think about it.” Cassius warned. ”My little brother is far too easy to rile up. He will react fast enough to embarrass even me.”

”In good health, then.”

”How would you know?”

”I feel it pressing against my ass every night.” Isolde shrugged. ”And every morning, husband, it is as though a mountain is hiding beneath your trousers.”

”My Isolde has gone completely unhinged. Who corrupted my sweet darling?”

”What did you expect, with you whispering sexual things into my ear every single fucking time?” She retorted, moving closer to him. ”Now I can hardly wait.”

”You are taking the words directly out of my mouth.” Cassius said. ”So here is what we will do, darling. I know you want the first time to be special, and so do I. Perhaps we should do exactly what you suggested.”

”The official wedding?” Isolde said, her tone surprised and quietly delighted. ”You agree?”

”Of course. Why wouldn’t I?”

”That’s wonderful!” She said, hugging him suddenly. ”I thought you might be reluctant, since it is not the custom among nobles. But I sometimes forget where you truly come from.” She pulled back, smiling. ”We should do it as soon as we can, then.”

”You do know why the official wedding is frowned upon by nobles, don’t you?”

Isolde smiled faintly. ”Of course.” She replied. ”The official wedding — and the right to hold the ceremony — requires the couple to appear before the Church of Death. There, binding vows are taken to remain with one another until death parts them. And the Church of Death takes those vows with absolute seriousness, for a Contract of Death is signed, and the one who breaks it loses everything.”

”True.” Cassius nodded, his energy fading noticeably. ”Which is precisely why nobles would never do it. Most of them are faithless, cheating creatures — men and women alike, and it is difficult to say which is worse. That is what makes it a custom reserved for commoners and mortals. They are people who live shorter lives and are too occupied with surviving to indulge their more corrupt desires.”

”Then if we do it,” Isolde began, her smile growing, ”you and I would be an oddity in the noble circle and official in a way that goes beyond the meaning of official. Then we will have the wedding. And I will be yours. Untouched and entirely yours. You will be the first...and certainly my last.”

”And we will be each other’s first time.” Cassius nodded, quietly and sincerely proud of that. ”I am glad. However, we will decide on the date a little later. Because right now, darling, I have genuinely hit my limit.”

His eyes were closing by themselves, his body and mind conspiring to force him into sleep and begin recovering.

Isolde shook her head with a soft smile. ”Do you realise this will be the third time you have lost consciousness in front of me? And the third time I will be carrying you back to safety in my arms.”

”What do you mean?” Cassius said, his voice already thick and sluggish. ”You are my safety, idiot.”

And that was all he managed before his resistance gave out entirely, and the dream world pulled him under.

Isolde’s expression softened into something fond and warm. She exhaled under her breath, wondering quietly whether she deserved this level of happiness.

She was almost afraid of it. Too much happiness felt strange and suspicious to someone who had spent most of her life without it.

And now that her heart had tasted this sweetness, she knew she would never forget it.

So hopefully, she thought, this would not become one of those memories that made a person wish for death when they lost it. Because if it ever did...Isolde doubted she would be able to remain in this world without her Cassius.

That single thought made her shiver with cold dread. But it also gave her a sharp, new clarity of purpose.

It was a pleasant way to live. In fact, she would have been content to exist like this forever, walking through the world together with her husband, side by side.

But that time had not come yet. And it required a Ladder to reach it.

It was time to build one.

’I will take that fruit. And I will start climbing through the Fangs in earnest. I need to reach Constantine’s level, and go beyond him. I need that motherfucker dead, or broken and kneeling at my feet. And I can only achieve that through blood, by fighting and killing and refusing to stop.’

And kill, she would.

’I need to be merciless when the moment demands it. Only that kind of person survives long enough in the assassin world. I will not stop. I will not falter. My dream and my future life with Cassius are both at stake. And I will have both.’

With those thoughts firmly in place, Isolde gathered Cassius gently into her arms and began to walk, glancing down occasionally at the handsome, sleeping face of her husband.

’He really is precious.’ She mused, and pressed a kiss to his forehead. ’My precious.’

All of that while Ananke watched from her Gate, one hand resting beneath her chin, her expression thoughtful.

’Perhaps I should find myself a man and experience something like a love life?’ She considered, then shook her head immediately, laughing at herself.

’Impossible.’

She was not sure she was capable of loving someone in that particular way. And besides...

’Cassius is more than enough as a man in my life.’

He was already stressful enough.

...

Meanwhile, as the First Sect Meeting drew to its close and everyone made their way home, inside the Church of Death, the High Priestess was fully in her element.

After Hel Hood’s return to the Royal Palace, Helene had been able to reclaim a substantial portion of her authority with surprising ease.

She had done so by leveraging her position as High Priestess and by invoking the deaths of the two sisters — the ones she had killed herself — and making very clear to the remaining sisters exactly what was at stake.

After all, only a High Priestess could pray for the peaceful repose of the dead and ensure Vorn received them beside him.

She had refused to do so for the two dead sisters, given that they had been loyal to Hel. The effect was an immediate widespread panic among the others. Because what did a lifetime of devotion in this world amount to, if after death you were left outside your god’s presence?

Just like that, Helene became the dominant force in the Church.

She required every sister who had deserted Hel Hood in her favor to sign a Contract of Death.

They resisted at first. But a frightened person is a hasty and mindless one.

Helene applied a little more pressure, and they all folded. Each of them was now, in their own way, her slaves.

And Helene had one particular way of dealing with those who belonged to her.

That way was visible at that moment, inside a private room of the Church. She sat on a wooden bed, legs parted, a woman with long black hair buried between them, the sultry licking sounds filling the space.

Behind Helene, two more women were kissing every part of her body as though in worship.

All of them naked, all of their eyes thick and heavy with desire.

”Ah...” Helene smiled widely, and moaned, pressing the woman’s head deeper between her legs, making the woman gasp for air. ”I wonder what my Lord would think, seeing me like this. A filthy woman coercing other women into pleasing her. And it’s still not enough. Not even close.” She looked at each of them in turn. ”I want men too, darlings. Go to a brothel and bring them here. Tonight, none of us will sleep.”

She grinned, hungry and wide.

”Are you with me?”

They mirrored her expression.

”We are, High Priestess.”

Helene laughed — loud and full of an appetite that had no bottom — satisfied to be pulling all of these sisters down into her world.

She didn’t care about anything else in that moment. Her mind was thick with desire, and that was all she allowed herself to think about.

But somewhere in one corner of her mind — a corner she could not fully silence — she found herself wishing.

Wishing that her Lord Seraph were somehow here, witnessing the woman he had chosen to accept.

She wanted him to see her like this. To see who she was when all restraint was stripped away. And even in this moment, she wanted — more than anything — to look up and find those eyes of his, the ones that never held condemnation.

’My Lord, do you see me? This is who I am. This is... me, your subordinate and your slave, Helene Mars, in her most base and wretched state.’

Do you still accept me?

Do you... still care about me?

’I will confess my sins and seek forgiveness later. Yes, later. For now, I am sorry, but I want this. I want this pleasure, even though it is temporary and fleeting. Even though I will regret it and curse myself when it passes. Right now, at this very moment, I want it. So...’

She threw her head back and shouted.

”...Fuck me harder!”
