Beast Taming: the More the Better

Chapter 114: Chapter 105: The Riddle Man Deserves to Die! Xiao Qing’s Breakthrough

”This time, take the opportunity to discuss and learn from each other; it will greatly benefit your futures!”

In the office of Vice President Liu of the Breeder Association, he said to the several Breeders before his desk.

”Yes!”

Standing before Vice President Liu was a group of young Breeders. Most were under thirty years old and were newly promoted Junior Breeders sent from Jianghai Province to neighboring Huaiyang Province for an exchange program.

After sending them off, two people remained in the office.

These two were none other than the Intermediate Breeders from the Jianghai Province Breeders Association who specialized in Forest Wolves.

One was Sun Chaoju, whom Su Ping knew very well. The other was another Breeder from Linzhou City specializing in Forest Wolves.

Vice President Liu glanced at them, took a sip of tea to moisten his throat, smiled, and said, ”Alright, what’s there to be so gloomy about? The job in the Legion isn’t that easy, is it? Now you’ve finally realized there’s always someone better out there, right?”

Sun Chaoju and the other Breeder specializing in Forest Wolves exchanged helpless looks.

It was Sun Chaoju, being relatively closer to him, who reluctantly looked at Vice President Liu and said, ”Teacher, if it had been a fair competition, that would be one thing. But I had just begun negotiations with the deputy commander of that unit, and the very next day, I was replaced without any explanation. Old Wang, too. He had just settled on a preliminary agreement with the instructor of the Forest Wolf Troop, only to be informed that the contract was voided. Do you know what’s really going on?”

Vice President Liu continued sipping his tea, looking at them helplessly. ”The Legion is making a major move. This time, it’s just an appetizer, aimed at internal changes. However, your abilities are indeed hardly sufficient to get involved in these muddy waters.”

Sun Chaoju and Old Wang exchanged glances. Their teacher really knew something?

Vice President Liu was a good man in all aspects, except for one: he loved to be coy.

The more anxious the two before him became, the more unhurriedly he savored his tea before continuing, ”The higher-ups are dissatisfied with the Cultivation Department of the Beast Tamer Legion for taking resources without delivering results. So, the Legion is preparing to implement elite outsourced cultivation.

In Linzhou, besides you two who are skilled at Forest Wolf cultivation, there’s only that kid, Su Ping. However, he’s completely focused on the evolution of the Wanmu Wolf. He probably doesn’t know about this and wouldn’t be in the mood to bother with it anyway.

But you must understand, this is a revolution for the entire Forest Army!”

Vice President Liu’s expression turned serious. ”The race limit of Forest Wolves is the Elite Peak Level. Even if some advanced resources are consumed to break through that race limit, the improvement isn’t significant!

However, the upper limit for this upcoming Legion-wide grand competition is the Commander Level! So, you should understand what this implies!”

The two were slightly startled, then understanding dawned, and they exchanged wry, helpless smiles.

They now understood what it meant.

The cultivation cap for the Legion competition was the Commander Level. However, normally, the Racial Potential of Forest Wolves only reached the Elite Level at best. This meant there was only one way forward!

That was to cultivate for evolution.

But how could cultivating evolution be so easy and simple?

They were aware of widely publicized evolutionary paths like the Forest Wolf and the Elf Wolf, but the success rates weren’t particularly high.

More importantly, could these two most common and widespread Forest Wolf Evolvers meet the requirements of the Forest Wolf Troop within the Legion?

Clearly, the answer was no.

So, why had the Forest Wolf Troop changed their minds after initial contact with them? The reason was simple: they had found a stronger Forest Wolf Breeder.

One capable of enabling Forest Wolves to complete their evolution and potentially secure a prominent place in the Legion’s upcoming internal grand competition.

What point was there in even talking about a serious competition with that unknown and mysterious Forest Wolf Breeder? Couldn’t the commander of the Forest Wolf Troop distinguish who was more capable? Obviously, no one was a fool. That was impossible.

So, after this blunt assessment from their teacher, Sun Chaoju and Master Wang, who was beside him, grew even more curious. They both looked at Liu Fuhai.

”Teacher, do you know who that Senior Forest Wolf Breeder is? Is he from our Jianghai Province?”

What kind of Forest Wolf Breeder could it be, and what kind of cultivation techniques would they use to meet the demands of the Forest Wolf Troop? They had even made a decision without any intention of continuing negotiations with us. As Breeders who also specialized in Forest Wolves, we naturally want to learn a thing or two. Even if we can’t learn much, it would be good just to broaden our horizons!

Unfortunately, Vice President Liu shook his head. ”The Legion and local authorities cannot interfere with each other’s affairs unless there are special circumstances. Those are the rules.”

Seeing the disappointment in his two students’ eyes, Old Liu smiled again and said, ”However, when the time comes for the grand Legion competition, I should be among the spectators. I expect their respective Breeders will also be invited. Then, we can all see just who this remarkable person is.”

It seemed that was all they could do for now.

Sun Chaoju and Master Wang exchanged looks. The former remarked with some feeling, ”Speaking of which, if Su Ping were here, with his Heart of Woods, he’d surely be able to participate in the cooperative cultivation, wouldn’t he?”

The ’Heart of Woods’ skill is incredibly versatile with top-notch effects. It’s evidently indispensable in the cultivation of any Forest Wolf Evolver!
