Long Qingyi found himself alone in his private cultivation room, his eyes firmly closed as he circulated his Qi.

Feeling ready, he looked at his status screen and clicked on improve cultivation. His muscles tightened and his dantian shuddered slightly before his body was filled with a pleasant freshness.

”System... what cultivation techniques do you recommend?”

[The system itself already functions as a cultivation technique. The host will benefit most from combat and movement techniques. Dual cultivation techniques would also be useful if the host is interested].

”For now I don’t think spending points on double cultivation is smart...” Qingyi shook his head, his eyes focusing on his current balance of lust points.

He had enough to buy a single combat or movement technique, but there would be nothing left to cultivate afterwards, and he didn’t know when Feiyan would be in his arms again.

He needed a new way to earn lust points if he really wanted to reach the foundation realm with a decent base in just five months.

With a sigh, he took out his golden token, inserted a small amount of Qi into it and checked his balance.

He had a total of five hundred Sect contribution points, just his monthly salary.

It was enough to cultivate non-stop for a few weeks in one of the Sect’s high-level cultivation rooms, but probably still not enough to form a decent base without evolving the level of his spiritual root.

But he couldn’t do that either. Elder Tian seemed to be keeping a close eye on his spiritual root, and if he evolved it without thinking, he could end up in trouble.

What was he supposed to say? That a miracle happened and his spirit root ended up evolving on its own?

”Come to think of it... that’s not a bad idea!” Qingyi’s eyes lit up.

This was a world of cultivation, he had lived here for twelve years. This kind of thing wasn’t common, but it happened often enough for thousands of stories to spread.

”Right, that’s what I’m going to do.” He moved his fingers closer to the spiritual root enhancement button, but stopped when his gaze passed the bloodline and constitution tab.

Why hadn’t he thought of that? Bloodline and constitution also represented talent.

Even if they didn’t change your cultivation speed that much, they still meant huge leaps in power, to a level where cultivators could fight enemies whole realms above!

Of course, he was a long way from evolving his constitution and bloodline to that point. He would have to have them at least at mortal grade for that, and by the time they reached that level, his cultivation would already be so high that this kind of feat would be almost impossible.

”Problems for the future,” he repeated in his mind.

The base power of his bloodline was already absurd enough that he was sure he would probably be able to fight weaker foundation realm cultivators, even if he was only at the common grade.

If he evolved it to the uncommon grade, he would probably even have a chance of victory.

”System, is that going to hurt?”

[Yes.]

”Ah... like everything on the path of cultivation.” A bitter smile appeared on Qingyi’s face as he pressed on to evolve his bloodline and constitution at the same time, his lust points being reduced to 586.

[Initiating bloodline improvement...]

[Initiating constitution upgrade...]

Qingyi felt his blood burn, just as it had when his master had first passed on the bloodline to him. His eyes fluttered and he gritted his teeth.

In the next moment, his muscles ripped, his skin pulsed red and a stream of steam escaped through his lips. It was as if he was on fire.

His vision blurred and then blacked out as his eyes filled with blood. The pain was nowhere near as intense as what he felt when he received the bloodline, but it was much more despairing.

[Improved bloodline! Common grade -> Uncommon grade]

[Improved constitution! Common grade -> Uncommon grade]

[You have unlocked a new bloodline skill: Draconic Eyes (inferior)]

[A thread of draconic Qi awakens in your Dantian].

Qingyi’s eyes suddenly opened, a deep purple taking over his irises as his pupil took on a slit-like shape.

He looked around, seeing strange lines cutting through the air, like the flow of a river. As they reached the black walls of his cultivation room, they rebounded, their flow breaking.

The next moment, his eyes returned to normal and the lines disappeared.

”System... what the hell was that?” He asked, finally realizing the numerous notifications in front of him.

[Pure Qi.]

”Pure Qi?” Qingyi opened his mouth. Pure Qi was impossible to see, right? Not even draconic bloodlines should be able to perceive it.

The only visible Qi is that converted by the Dantian.

[Pure-blooded dragons have the innate ability to see pure Qi. Even the highest level draconic bloodlines have some level of impurity that keeps them human. This kind of impurity doesn’t exist in you].

”That... makes sense,” Qingyi ducked his head. Bloodlines were strange things and he didn’t want to get a headache over it.

Closing his eyes, he felt the new thread of Qi in his dantian.

It was strange, hot and wild, but even so, it was easier to move than any other type of Qi he had ever come into contact with.

When he opened his eyes again, circulating that Qi through them, he saw the world around him change again, his pupils turning into bright purple slits.

”It’s incredible...” he muttered, moving his hand in front of his vision. He could perceive his internal flow of Qi clearly and, when he circulated it through his arm for an attack, he saw the pure energy shudder.

With that power, he could not only perceive his opponents’ Qi flow, but also predict their blows before they even fell.

After a few seconds, Qingyi stopped the circulation of Qi, feeling his eyes hurt. The draconic Qi put too great a strain on his meridians.
