Summoners War: Only I Summoned Divine Beasts

Chapter 149: Disappointed

Sera was flabbergasted. She didnʼt understand what he said, but she knew he must be cursing something.

”Are you really not the guide from the Ancient Library of the Fairy Queen?” Nathan asked, a sense of desperation clearly being reflected on his face.

”Yes. I am Serafina Dialanta, the fallen saintess of the Holy Kingdom. I am not the guide.” Sera tilted her head in confusion. ”Did you help me because you thought I was the guide?”

”…” Nathan fell silent before confessing, ”That was indeed a part of the reason.”

Sera looked disappointed. At the same time, she understood that there was nothing free in this world. He offered his help because there was something for him in the first place.

Before she stormed off, he pinched the bridge of his nose. ”I guess this is the end. You have completed your mission, and itʼs time for me to go back and search for the ancient library.”

Sera was speechless. Nathan had indeed helped her, and it looked like he didnʼt even bother to get his payment. The fact that he just wanted to end this here proved it.

At the same time, shouldnʼt she be the one feeling disappointed, not him?

”Anyway, good luck with your endeavor.” Nathan waved his hand and turned around.

”Wait.”

Nathan frowned, thinking, ʼIs she going to slap me or something? Getting offended because I helped her?ʼ

Sera took a deep breath, calming down. ”Everyone has their own agenda when helping others. No matter your agenda is, itʼs true that you have helped me. Iʼm going to repay you.”

”No need. If you want to repay someone, just send that money to the village. The fact that they have to resort to this means their village is suffering. If you look at the village carefully, it is actually not in a good condition.

”Even though they have water, they barely have food. The people in that village are thinner than the ones in the city, so itʼs clear that they donʼt have enough money.

”The only way for them to get money is from the traveler who wants to cross the desert and uses their place to get some rest.

”Thatʼs why if you want to give that reward, better give it to them. And try to solve the problem that is forcing them to become a bandit. At the very least, this kind of thing wonʼt happen anymore.” Nathan shook his head. He might have gotten too much fun.

Although they were bandits, he had been killing them as if they were just a trial, not a proper human being. It wasnʼt much, but this was his way of paying for his mistake.

Sera was stunned once again. She misunderstood Nathanʼs intention as him just being a good person. It was just this time he was here to help for the ancient library.

ʼThe ancient library… I think I have stumbled upon this name when searching for books in the churchʼs library. A library that is said to contain everything you need to know in this world.

ʼBut this library only allows one person to enter to protect both the secrecy of the visitor and also the provider. Iʼm not sure about the exact information, but it seems I wonʼt be able to repay him by helping him.ʼ

”If there is nothing else, Iʼll take my leave.” Nathan looked like he wanted to rush out of here. Considering he had spent a considerable amount of time helping her, it was understandable.

Sera immediately said, ”There is something I want to confirm. You are Nathan, the first-year student from the Frexia Academy, right? The unique summoner who can only summon beasts?”

”Yes. Is there something wrong with my identity?” Nathanʼs expression turned serious.

”No. I just want to confirm the person who has helped me.”

Nathan shrugged. He just walked away, fully aware that the saintess would have to deal with the village. Even if they got some money, they would still suffer if the problem persisted.

But that would be her problem.

Nathan just walked out of the village with Fenrir and Anubis. To his surprise, Fenrir accompanied him instead of going back due to the heat.

It was clear what he actually wanted.

”Pfft. Hahahahaha!” Fenrir laughed uncontrollably to the point where tears were leaking out of the corner of his eyes. ”This is too funny. I have been telling you, horny brat. You are going to suffer some day. I have never thought that day would come so fast.”

Nathanʼs eyebrows twitched, but Nathan couldnʼt deny it. It was true that he had wasted too much time for nothing.

”I have always told you to get as powerful as possible, and you can gain everything else in this world.” Fenrir harrumphed.

Nathan sighed. ”Yeah, yeah. I think Iʼm going to take Nidhoggʼs suggestion. What do you think? Bullying you sounds fun.”

Fenrir froze. He was trying to take advantage of this situation to tease Nathan, but the latter still possessed the ultimate card to bully him.

”Thatʼs not fair.” Fenrir gnashed his teeth.

Nathan scratched the back of his head. ”I know that is laughable for you, but we have a bigger problem. Still, we have wasted too much time here. We might not be able to enter the Ancient Library at this rate.”

”Hmmm…” Fenrir squinted his eyes. Nathan wasnʼt wrong. The journey was supposed to last seven days, and because of this incident, they might have messed up with the trial because of Sera.

”So are we going to start from the beginning?” Anubis asked while walking alongside Nathan.

”Yeah. It seems to be the case.” Nathan sighed. ”I donʼt know if we can continue like this or have to start all over again. For now, I think about going back to the location where we found her and start from there.”

”I think thatʼs a good idea.” Anubis nodded. ”Still, we have wasted a lot of time here.”

”I know.” Nathan let out a long sigh as he looked at the horizon as though something bothered his mind. ”You know what? I think Iʼm able to relate to one of the famous jokes on Earth.”

”A joke?”

”Yes. With my luck being like this, somehow…” Nathan let out another sigh. ”I donʼt want to be horny anymore. I just want to be happy.”
