War Sovereign Soaring The Heavens

“Su Li obtained an inheritance from the Devil Clans and became half-devil because of that? He’s normal when his human half is in control. However, when his devil half takes over, he’ll lose his mind and become a killing machine?” Duan Ling Tian could not help but worry about Su Li when he learned about what happened from Ke’er. After all, he knew when the devil half took over, Su Li would lose all rationality and would not be able to differentiate between friends and foes. It was a miracle that Su Li was able to survive for so long. It was even more miraculous that Su Li was not completely overtaken by his devilish urges. He shook his head as he said, “Who knew so many things would happen to Su Li?”

After that, Duan Ling Tian looked at Ke’er and asked, “Ke’er, you said the white-clad girl, Ren Yuan Jie, helped Su Li suppress his devilish urges that’s why Su Li willingly became her sword slave?”

“Yes,” Ke’er nodded and said as a cold light flash in her eyes, “I’ve offered to help Su Li to free himself from Ren Yuan Jie. I could force her to free him or kill her…” She knew about the friendship between Duan Ling Tian and Su Li, and she knew Duan Ling Tian would have offered to do the same. After a while, she continued to say, “As you can see, he rejected my offer. He said that he’s a man of his word so he wouldn’t go back on his words.”

Duan Ling Tian shook his head after listening to Ke’er’s words. “That’s the kind of person he is.” He knew Su Li would not change his mind easily after he had decided on something. Not to mention Ren Yuan Jie had helped Su Li and he owed her a favor. Then, he turned to look at the three figures in the distance and asked, “He… Did he promise Ren Yuan Jie that he would be her sword slave for life?”

Duan Ling Tian watched as Ren Yuan Jie paid her respect to the grey-clad old man. He discovered that the old man was not as simple as he appeared to be. He thought to himself, ‘I’m afraid even the Eight Tribulation Bodiless Celestial I killed earlier was no match for this old man. This means he must be a Nine Tribulation Bodiless Celestial.’ At this moment, his eyes briefly met the grey-clad old man’s eyes.

When Duan Ling Tian had arrived at this place earlier, he had observed all the Bodiless Celestials present on the scene. He recalled the grey-clad old man had quietly stood at the side, looking unremarkable so he did not pay much attention to him. However, now that he was observing the old man as Ren Yuan Jie and Su Li greeted the old man, he discovered the old man was really not simple. It was highly likely that he was Nine Tribulation Bodiless Celestial.

At this moment, Ke’er shook her head and replied to Duan Ling Tian, “No… Su Li said he promised to be Ren Yuan Jie’s sword slave for 100 years. He’ll regain his freedom in 100 years.”

“100 years? That’s not too bad…” Duan Ling Tian murmured. He felt relieved. He had been worried that Su Li would foolishly agree to become someone’s sword slave for life. Although one could not swear on the lightning penalty oath in the Beyond Heaven Secret Zone, knowing Su Li, even without the oath, he still would not break his promise. “However, that Ren Yuan Jie has really gotten herself a great deal…”

At this moment, Feng Tian Wu finally spoke up, “Brother Ling Tian, do you know who obtained the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial?”

Realization dawned on Duan Ling Tian when he heard Feng Tian Wu’s words. “Could it be Su Li?”

Feng Tian Wu glanced at Ke’er before she said, “You’re right. However, it’s all thanks to sister Ke’er that he managed to obtain the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial. If it weren’t for her, he wouldn’t stand a chance at all.”

“Ke’er?” Duan Ling Tian was shocked. Although he knew Ke’er had gotten stronger, he did not expect that she was strong enough to clear the obstacles and help Su Li obtain the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial. “I guess it’s fate that Su Li obtained the inheritance.”

Ke’er explained, “When all of us were standing in front of the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial, the inheritance chose him. This means we have no fate with the inheritance.” She looked at Gan Ru Yan, Mu Yi Yi, and Feng Tian Wu as she continued to say, “However, it’s also possible that he was chosen because he was the only Sword Cultivator among us at that time.”

“So Su Li really obtained the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial, and it’s an inheritance from a Sword Celestial?” Duan Ling Tian smiled. He had been curious about who had obtained the inheritance. After all, if it were not because he had arrived late, he would definitely be able to obtain the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial. He had felt regretful for losing this chance, but now that he found out Su Li was the recipient of the inheritance, all his regrets disappeared.

Duan Ling Tian turned to look at the white-clad lady in the distance and said, “Looks like that girl really had gotten herself an extremely great deal!”

…

“The Great Overarching Golden Celestial who left his inheritance in the Beyond Heaven Secret Zone is a Sword Celestial?” The grey-clad old man widened his eyes surprised when he learned about this.

“Yes, ancestor,” Ren Yuan Jie answered reverently.

The grey-clad old man’s eyes brightened and a hint of expectation could be seen in his eyes as he asked, “Then, did you… did you obtain the inheritance?”

Ren Yuan Jie shook her head and the expectation in the grey-clad old man’s eyes was replaced by disappointment immediately.

“Do you know who had obtained it?” The old man asked.

“It’s him,” Ren Yuan Jie replied as she turned to look at Su Li. Her eyes were filled with jealousy at this moment.

“Him?” The grey-clad old man shifted his attention to Su Li again and his attitude took a 180-degree turn. Initially, he did not think there was anything special about Ren Yuan Jie’s sword slave. Who knew he had obtained the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial?

“Yes,” Ren Yuan Jie nodded and said, “Initially, he was much weaker than me. However, after he obtained the inheritance, he has become slightly stronger than me.”

Upon hearing Ren Yuan Jie’s words, the grey-clad old man looked at Su Li and asked him eagerly, “Since you’ve obtained the inheritance from a Great Overarching Golden Celestial and became stronger than Yuan Jie, are you still planning to keep your words and remain as her sword slave?”

Su Li replied indifferently, “How can a man stand tall if he doesn’t keep his words?”

Ren Yuan Jie was impressed by Su Li’s words.

Even the grey-clad old man’s impression of Su Li rose when he heard Su Li’s words. He said, “Yuan Jie, let me make a decision on your behalf this time. Release Su Li from his promise to become your sword slave. Do you agree?”

Ren Yuan Jie quickly replied after she recovered from her shock, “I will follow your orders, ancestor.”

“Senior, you are…” Su Li frowned when he heard the grey-clad old man’s words.

Ren Yuan Jie interrupted Su Li and quickly said, “Su Li, you did not break your promise. I’m willingly freeing you from your promise. There’s no need for you to think too much into it.”

“But…” Su Li looked at Ren Yuan Jie in confusion. After all, he knew she was not such an understanding person. After a while, he thought to himself, ‘It seems like she’s only doing this because of this old man from Yellow Thearch Mansion.’

“It is decided then!” The grey-clad old man said jovially as he looked at Su Li. Then, he asked, “Su Li, I would like to invite you to join our Yellow Thearch Mansion. Are you willing to join us?”

‘Here it is!’ Su Li thought to himself. This was the caveat of being released from his promise. He knew things would not be so simple. The grey-clad old man had made Ren Yuan Jie release him as a sword slave before extending an invitation to him to join Yellow Thearch Mansion, intending to tie him to Yellow Thearch Mansion completely!
