Chapter 2893: Bringing Hana to the Infirmary

After resting for another fifteen minutes, much to her protest, I picked up my Hana and brought her to the Administration Building.

With most of the teachers hands-off for today to give the students enough time for the festival preparations, we ran into a few of them, especially because of how I carried her in bridal style. It drew their attention, thinking the matter was serious.

Thankfully, there were Shio and Ryouko who dispersed most of them, allowing me to slip away and continue upstairs where the infirmary was located.

Of course, they both gave me an inquisitive look, which would certainly be unleashed later when I came to visit them.

Anyway, I was expecting an empty infirmary since I was already so used to Hayashi-sensei not being there during my previous visits. However, as soon as I entered, I was greeted by the sight of our mysterious school nurse slash school director sitting on her chair, looking quite bored.

Hayashi-sensei’s gaze immediately flicked up from her magazine, her lips pressing together after seeing me bringing in a student like this.

”Onoda-kun.” She acknowledged with mild exasperation, ”What’s the matter?”

Before I could answer, Hana, who remained silent because she knew she couldn’t change my mind, flapped her legs to be let down.

I resisted at first, but she pinched my side with surprising strength for someone still recovering.

”Put me down. I told you I didn’t need to...” She whispered sharply while trying her best to gather her composure.

Of course, since I was already here, would I just put her down without completing my task?

With much reluctance, I lowered Hana onto the nearest infirmary bed.

Hayashi-sensei raised an eyebrow at the sight. Judging from her expression, she already guessed my relationship with the girl.

”There you go. Behave. I told you, you need to rest here. Don’t push yourself too much.” I chided Hana softly, ignoring her glare as I adjusted the pillow behind her.

As always, the sterile atmosphere of the infirmary was quite calming. However, Hayashi-sensei’s presence made the quiet room feel oddly charged.

As Hana was about to protest, Hayashi-sensei spoke again, ”So? Care to explain? Or are you going to continue ignoring me?”

With her hands tucked within her lab coat’s pockets, the mysterious school nurse who naturally exuded mature charm narrowed her eyes at me. She’s probably going to scold me later as well but... it’s not a problem. I’ll just pamper her to make up for it.

”You know I’m not ignoring you, Hayashi-sensei.” I smiled warmly while brushing Hana’s hair aside as the girl huffed angrily but did not exactly reject my affectionate gesture. ”Hana here is just being stubborn, not listening to me. She’s weakened a bit and needed to rest. That’s all.”

Hayashi-sensei’s lips pressed into a thin line as her brows furrowed. ”Heh. Only needed rest? So, you exhausted her, huh?”

”Well, kinda like that. Also... she might not need something to ease the pain.” I replied while patting Hana’s head.

”Pain...” Hayashi-sensei’s voice trailed off as she was clearly trying to deduce Hana’s state.

Not even five seconds later, she immediately locked onto the reason. Her face twisted into a frown but her cheeks gradually reddened. ”Audacious brat. What are you doing during school hours? Don’t you have a festival booth to prepare for?”

I scratched my head and put on an embarrassed smile.

Obviously, lying to her was easy. But since I already somewhat consider her as one of my women, I’ll never lie to her. Besides, I also kinda want to see her reaction to this. Will she punish me?

”We do. But one thing led to another... Alas, I am too irresistible and can’t stop my Hana.”

”This guy...” Hana hissed from the bed, kicking weakly at my knee while Hayashi-sensei’s lips twitched. Somewhere between exasperation and reluctant amusement.

Our mysterious school nurse exhaled sharply through her nose before striding forward, her lab coat as she pulled a thermometer from her pocket.

However, that thermometer wasn’t going to be used as a medical instrument, she tapped my head with it.

”You’re too much, brat. Won’t you at least consider the girl’s condition?” Hayashi-sensei scolded, though the thermometer’s plastic casing barely made a sound against my skull. The tap was more symbolic than punitive, like she couldn’t decide whether to reprimand me or indulge my antics.

Hana snorted from the bed and rolled her eyes before looking at Hayashi-sensei, ”Sensei, scold him more. That guy will just continue being shameless unless someone puts him in his place.”

Hayashi-sensei sighed, her fingers pinching the bridge of her nose. ”Of course, we all know how shameless he is. But for now, let me check your condition.”

Although she already had an idea of what happened between us, Hayashi-sensei was still thorough. She gestured for me to step back while she examined Hana. She checked her pulse, pressed fingers to her forehead and even lifted her uniform collar slightly to assess the skin beneath.

Hana shot me a glare over the nurse’s shoulder, as if this humiliation was entirely my fault.

I could only repress my amusement as Hayashi-sensei’s professionalism warred with the faint blush creeping up her neck.

Moments later, she clicked her tongue after confirming Hana’s elevated pulse and slight fever. Clearly not from illness, but the lingering aftermath of our earlier activities.

”Indeed. You must rest for now. You’ve been... overexerted. I’ll give you something for the pain.” Hayashi-sensei’s voice was clipped as she turned toward the medicine cabinet.

Hana sank into the pillows with a quiet huff. She surely didn’t want to stay here but now that Hayashi-sensei had already declared it, she couldn’t just walk away.

A while later, Hayashi-sensei returned with a pill and a glass of water. ”Here, drink this. You’ll be drowsy for a bit. Take the time to sleep.”

Hana accepted the medication grudgingly, swallowing it with a grimace before sinking back into the pillow. Her eyelids grew heavy almost instantly, her grip on consciousness slipping.

I sat down on the bedside, caressing the girl’s hair as she slowly drifted off. ”Good girl. I’ll pick you up later, alright?”

”Hmph. You better be.” She drowsily mumbled before sleep fully claimed her. I pulled the blanket and covered her body with it.

Once Hana’s breathing evened out, I stood up and faced the exasperated Hayashi-sensei.

Without saying anything, she grabbed my elbow and steered me away from the infirmary bed.

”You brat, it’s fine if I don’t know. But for you to come here and bring your girl while clearly understanding what you did... isn’t that clear disrespect to me?” She whispered harshly as she dragged me to her desk, pushing me down on her seat.

Of course, she’s angry. But am I trying to disrespect her? Obviously not. But thinking about it, I truly showcased my insensitive side again. I failed to consider Hayashi-sensei’s position, bringing Hana here in such a state.

With an apologetic expression, I replied, ”Mhm. I didn’t mean to disrespect you, sensei. But I understand this is disrespectful. So, let me apologize properly.”

Hayashi-sensei’s eyes narrowed slightly as she released my elbow and crossed her arms. ”Hmph. How will you apologize?”

Right. That’s the question. How should I apologize?

”... I leave my fate to you, sensei,” I answered with my head lowered slightly, keeping my tone light yet sincere.

Hayashi-sensei studied me for a long moment, her fingers tapping against her folded arms. The rhythmic sound filled the quiet infirmary, syncing with Hana’s soft breathing from the nearby bed.

”Raise your head and close your eyes,” Hayashi-sensei commanded, her voice dropping into that velvety register that reminded me of the first time I met her here in this room.

I obeyed instantly, tilting my chin up as my eyelids fell shut.

It didn’t take long before a sharp pain hit my forehead. It didn’t come from Hayashi-sensei’s thermometer this time, but from her flicking her fingers against my skin with surprising force.

My eyes flew open to find her lips curled in triumph, one eyebrow arched as she withdrew her hand.

”First payment,” She declared as she smoothed her lab coat. ”The rest will be collected later, you shameless brat.”

I nodded obediently while rubbing my forehead. ”I understand. But sensei... don’t you want to collect it now? I mean... I can still stay for a bit.”

Understanding my meaning perfectly, Hayashi-sensei’s face reddened once again, ”Y-you shameless brat. I know what you’re thinking. So, no.”

”What am I thinking, sensei?” I tilted my head like an innocent student, watching her pupils dilate slightly as she pressed her thighs together.

”Something perverted, of course! Ugh. Go back now. I’ll look after the girl. Also, don’t do something like this again. It’s not funny.” Hayashi-sensei turned away abruptly, her lab coat swirling around her legs as she busied herself with rearranging medicine bottles that didn’t need rearranging.

“Mhm. I understand my foolishness, sensei. But I still want to make it up to you... Won’t you let me?”

Upon saying that, I stood up and approached her from behind. Without waiting for her to answer, my hands slipped around her waist, slow enough for her to stop me if she wanted and firm enough to show I wasn’t teasing.
