Re-Awakening: I Ascend with a Legendary class

Chapter 660: Removing The Disadvantage, Onward to War

The elders took their positions around Almond, each one standing along the carved rings etched into the chamber floor. Their hands rose together, and the patterns beneath their feet ignited as though remembering an old purpose. Golden light surged outward across the rings, flowing in warm currents that converged toward the center where Almond stood, still and waiting.

The energy did not strike him. It enveloped him, pressing gently inward like warm hands cupping a flame, and for a moment the chamber felt almost peaceful. The Geneline power of Suryax was not a weapon. It was something older and more patient than that, a force that sought imbalance the way water seeks low ground, and corrected it.

The golden light threaded through Almond’s body and found the curse immediately.

The black strands were woven deep, darker than the absence of light, and the moment the golden energy wrapped around them, something in them woke up. They tightened. Not slowly, not with any grace, but with a sudden violent compression that drove them deeper into Almond’s core as if they were roots reacting to frost. A pulse rippled outward from his chest and the golden energy stuttered, the elders visibly straining to hold their position.

One of them exhaled through his teeth. ”It’s rejecting purification.”

”No,” the King said from where he stood at the edge of the ring, watching closely. ”It’s defending its anchor. There’s a difference.”

The golden light intensified in response, the elders pouring more into the effort, but the harder they pushed, the more the curse coiled, reinforcing its own structure as though feeding on the pressure applied against it. Almond felt it moving inside him, not with pain exactly, but with a horrible sense of something refusing to let go.

He raised one hand, a quiet signal, and the elders eased back. The energy faded. The chamber dimmed.

”It’s not something you remove from the outside,” Almond said. His voice was calm, but it carried the weight of someone who had just learned something unpleasant and was already working through what it meant.

Nobody argued with him.

He summoned one of his Grimblades, and the weapon formed beside his hand with a low shimmer, its edge carrying that familiar subtle distortion that bent the light around it. He studied it for a moment, then brought it close to one of the black strands and touched the edge against it lightly. The strand split, clean and immediate, and then sealed itself back together before he could even register the separation.

”It regenerates,” he said. ”And not from me. It has an external source feeding it. That’s why direct removal doesn’t hold.” He lowered the blade and looked at the King. ”We’re not going to cut it out. We’d need to break what it’s built on.”

The King stepped forward until he was near enough that his voice didn’t need to carry. ”Then that’s what we do. We don’t remove it. We collapse its structure from within.”

The second attempt looked nothing like the first. The elders repositioned themselves, and this time when they raised their hands, the golden energy that spread through the chamber was quieter, more measured. It wasn’t trying to force anything. It formed a field around Almond, a steady and contained pressure, the difference between a hand pushing against a door and a hand simply holding it closed. The curse reacted, tightening by reflex, but it didn’t lash outward. It had nothing to lash against.

”Good,” Almond said quietly. ”Hold it exactly there.”

Three Grimblades formed around him, hovering at different angles. He wasn’t using them the way he normally would. There was no intent to destroy in his stance, only the careful focus of someone taking apart a mechanism they didn’t fully understand but were beginning to read. He moved the blades slowly at first, pressing their edges into the layered structure of the curse and drawing them through without completing the cut. Weakening. Separating. Working the layers apart from one another the way you’d loosen a knot before pulling it free.

Every time a strand split, it tried to reconnect, but the Geneline field slowed the process enough that the regeneration lagged. The gap between the cut and the sealing stretched from immediate to a full breath, then two, then longer. Almond’s movements quickened. The strands began to fray at the edges in a way they hadn’t before, and he felt the difference in resistance, the way the curse was no longer entirely sure of itself.

But it held. The core structure remained intact, and after another long minute, Almond pulled back slightly and shook out his hands. ”It’s not enough. The anchor is still fed.”

One of the Fabricated Spirits moved from the outer ring without being asked. It wasn’t humanoid in any way. It was a construct of refined energy, its form made of interlocking geometric patterns that pulsed with something that looked almost like a heartbeat. It moved toward Almond with a deliberate, unhurried quality, and when it extended part of its form and made contact, the atmosphere in the chamber shifted in a way that was difficult to describe, as though the room had been holding its breath and only just let it out.

The Spirit’s power didn’t push or contain. It rewrote. Wherever it touched the curse, the black strands lost their certainty, flickering and jumping out of their own patterns. For the first time since they’d begun, the strands looked uncertain of their own shape.

Almond saw it immediately. ”Now.”

What followed was less like a battle and more like the final stages of difficult work. The Geneline field held the curse in place. The Fabricated Spirit unraveled its internal logic. And Almond moved through it with his blades, cutting not to sever but to remove the connection points, the joints that allowed the structure to hold together and rebuild itself. The strands tried to reform and found they had nothing to reconnect to. They fragmented, then fragmented further, collapsing inward as the anchor beneath them crumbled under the combined pressure of three different forces working in precise coordination.

The tension in the chamber became almost unbearable, and then, with a sharp rupture that everyone present felt in their chests, the curse broke. The remaining strands scattered into fragments of dark energy that faded before they reached the floor, leaving nothing behind.

Silence settled over the room.

Almond stood in the center of it, breathing slowly, taking stock of what was left inside him. After a long moment, he looked up.

”It’s gone,” he said, and the simple relief in his voice was the most honest thing anyone in that chamber had heard all day.

...

By the time he returned to the surface, Suryax had already shifted into full war state.

The dome pulsed brighter, its layers fully active.

The Mega Dreadships had repositioned into deeper formations, covering both eastern and north-western vectors.

Skydread Crafts filled the sky in dense patterns, moving with rapid, controlled precision.

The walls hummed with power, weapon systems fully aligned.

The army had mobilized.

Suryax was no longer waiting.

It was preparing to move.

Rudra stood at the forward command platform.

When Almond arrived, he did not ask.

He simply looked.

Almond nodded.

”It’s broken.”

Rudra’s gaze steadied.

”Good.”

Marcus stepped forward, tightening his grip on his sword.

”Then we don’t hold back.”

Lily smiled faintly, her Dreadlings already shifting into attack formations.

”Finally.”

Natalia’s spheres rotated faster, recalculating trajectories as new parameters entered the system.

Kayla’s threads pulsed, tightening connections across every unit.

Silvester, Hiroshi stepped forward, their presence sharpening.

Marcus and Maya looked more thrilled than worried for their first big battle.

The Suryax generals aligned behind them.

The entire island responded.

The Mega Dreadships began to move, surging forward like tides.

The ocean parted as their massive forms advanced, cutting through the water with overwhelming force.

Skydread Crafts shot into the sky, forming layered aerial formations that spread outward in expanding arcs.

The defensive dome opened.

Not fully.

Just enough.

A controlled breach formed, allowing the fleets to pass through while maintaining structural integrity.

The army moved.

Not as scattered units.

As a unified force.

The Suryax soldiers advanced, their Geneline power radiating outward in controlled waves.

The Dreadlings surged with them, forming shifting formations that adapted in real time.

The Spirit Lords and Monarch Dreadlings followed, their presence heavy, ready to collide.

Rudra stepped forward.

At the very front.

Bare hands.

Steady.

The ocean stretched before them.

Two armies approached from opposite directions.

Two forces that had chosen alliance over isolation to destroy the Suryax Regalon Alliance.

The ocean responded as the Suryax–Ananta Allied Force advanced.

To the east, the waters twisted into towering currents that did not collapse. Lightning arced across the sky, drawn upward from the sea and guided into controlled pathways. Within that storm, the fleet of Virexion Dominion and Kezryx Void Imperium advanced with precision.

Their warships cut through the ocean in sharp formations, long and angular, their surfaces pulsing with violet energy. The water split cleanly beneath them, forming deep trenches before collapsing back in violent waves. Above, aerial units moved in tight patterns, leaving streaks of light that curved and intersected with calculated timing. Some were built for speed, slicing through the air with minimal resistance, while others carried rotating arrays that gathered lightning and condensed it into concentrated attacks. Heavier platforms hovered above, stabilizing massive reserves of energy that crackled constantly.

The entire formation shifted continuously, adjusting its structure in real time. At its center, a command vessel synchronized every movement, turning the entire fleet into a coordinated system that behaved like a thinking storm.

From the northwest, the ocean darkened in a different way. The surface thickened as if resisting something beneath it, and then it broke apart as the forces of Oblivion Tyrant Sovereignty and Velkarion Dominion emerged.

Their constructs rose violently from the depths, jagged and irregular, their forms pulsing with unstable black and crimson energy. These were not refined ships but massive war constructs that looked forged through raw force. Some resembled shifting fortresses, their structures constantly changing, while others moved like living beasts, their forms unstable and fluctuating.

The water around them warped rather than split, bending unnaturally as if space itself distorted. War-beasts surged between the larger constructs, their bodies forming and dissolving as they moved, sometimes leaping across the surface and sometimes climbing through warped space.

Above them, the sky twisted into uneven spirals of dark clouds. Red energy pulsed through them in violent bursts, occasionally crashing downward and tearing into the ocean below. Despite the chaos, there was direction. At the center, a massive construct pulsed with deep crimson light, its presence aligning the surrounding destruction into something that could still be directed forward.

Between these two forces, the Suryax–Ananta fleet advanced.

Mega Dreadships moved in layered formations, their massive forms steady and controlled as they cut through the water. Their energy systems pulsed in stable patterns, distributing power across their structures. Above them, Skydread Crafts filled the sky, moving in coordinated arcs that responded instantly to changes in the battlefield.

Rudra stood at the front, calm and unmoving, his gaze shifting between both advancing forces. Marcus held position nearby, shield locked and sword steady, ready to anchor the frontline. Natalia’s spheres rotated rapidly as she calculated trajectories across both fronts, while Kayla’s threads tightened across the entire formation, linking every unit into a unified system.

Lily’s Dreadlings shifted into denser formations, adapting their shapes in preparation for impact. Almond stood beside Rudra, his Grimblades active now that the curse had been broken, his focus sharp.

The distance between the forces continued to shrink. The storm intensified from the east, and the chaotic surge from the northwest pressed forward without restraint.

Suryax did not slow. It advanced to meet both.
