Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

198: Chapter 198 Sky-High ContractThe news of the 5G internal testing reaching legendary status spread across the globe that same day, and the area beneath the Tianxing Group headquarters building became completely bustling.

Shortly after 1:00 PM, the CEOs of Ericsson, Qualcomm, Samsung, and Nokia, leading their respective core teams, arrived early and waited at the building’s entrance. Dressed in suits and leather shoes, they lacked any of their former arrogance; their faces were filled with anxiety and humility, making them look like completely different people compared to their previous high-and-mighty selves.

After watching the live broadcast of the 5G field test, they panicked completely.

Tianxing’s 5G raw power was even stronger than they had anticipated. If they couldn’t obtain the authorization, their companies would be completely phased out of the market within half a year, unable to even get a scrap of the leftovers.

”Assistant Li, Assistant Li, please be kind and help us out. Let us see President Chen first!”

Seeing Li Yue walking over, the CEO of Samsung stopped her and spoke in a very humble tone:

”We are willing to accept any conditions. As long as we can get the 5G Authorization, any amount of money is fine!”

Li Yue remained expressionless and said calmly:

”CEOs, please don’t be anxious. President Chen already knows you’re here, but he is currently handling other matters. Please wait in the conference room first.”

The CEO of Ericsson hurriedly said:

”Alright, alright, Assistant Li. We’ll head to the conference room and wait right now!”

The few of them looked at each other, knowing full well in their hearts that they had no bargaining power at all. They could only obey obediently, nodding hurriedly as they followed Li Yue toward the elevators.

In the large high-level conference room of Tianxing Group, the decor was simple yet grand. A long conference table sat in the middle; one side of the seats was empty, while the other side was quickly filled by the CEOs of the Four Giants and their teams.

The few of them were restless, their eyes filled with anxiety, frequently looking up toward the conference room door.

Zhang Kai walked into the conference room first, standing next to the head of the conference table. Looking at the people before him, he said:

”Everyone, President Chen will be here soon. Before he arrives, I will go over the cooperation terms with you. These were set by President Chen. Read them carefully; if you can accept them, sign the contract. If not, you can leave now. There are plenty of companies waiting to cooperate with us; there’s no need to waste time here.”

The four CEOs hurriedly picked up the documents Zhang Kai handed over and flipped through them quickly. Their expressions grew uglier the more they read.

The minimum single authorization fee is ten billion, to be paid in full in one lump sum;

Strictly abide by Chinese regulations; any technology theft will lead to accountability;

Only usage rights are granted, no disclosure of core technology;

Priority supply to the domestic market;

Mobile phone authorization fees will be charged at 8% for Japanese, Korean, and American companies, and 6% to 7% for others.

The CEO of Qualcomm frowned and spoke tentatively:

”President Zhang, could you show some leniency?

Ten billion for the authorization fee is too high. Can it be paid in three installments?

And this mobile phone royalty—8% is really too much. Can it be lowered to 5%?

When President Chen arrives, we will apologize in person.”

As soon as he finished speaking, Zhang Kai said bluntly and without politeness:

”No. Not a single cent less, and not a single clause can be changed.

President Chen said long ago that to get Tianxing’s 5G Authorization, one must pay the corresponding price. Back when you were strangling Huaxia Technology’s neck, why didn’t you think about leniency?

Thinking about apologizing only now? It’s too late.”

The Nokia CEO’s face flushed red and white; feeling helpless, he could only brace himself and say:

”President Zhang, we know we were in the wrong back then, but paying ten billion in one lump sum is too much pressure for us. Please give us a little more time; we will definitely scrape it together. Please say a few good words for us in front of President Chen.”

Just then, the conference room door was pushed open, and Chen Mo walked in slowly, followed by Li Yue.

Chen Mo walked straight to the head seat and sat down. He looked at the teams playfully without saying a word, his gaze merely sweeping over everyone present. The sense of pressure in his eyes instantly made the already nervous four CEOs even more restless.

Chen Mo remained silent for a few seconds before slowly speaking:

”I heard what you just said. There’s no time for you to scrape money together, and there’s no need to ask Zhang Kai for favors. Either pay the money and sign the contract now, or get out. Don’t waste my time here.”

Chen Mo’s words were like a bucket of cold water, instantly dousing their thoughts of bargaining.

Looking at Chen Mo’s expression, they knew in their hearts that Chen Mo meant what he said. If they truly missed out, their companies would be completely finished, with no chance of ever recovering.

The Samsung CEO gritted his teeth and said resolutely:

”Fine! We agree! Ten billion for the authorization fee—we will transfer the money right now! We also accept the 8% mobile phone royalty!”

With the first one speaking up, the others could only follow suit and compromise.

The CEO of Ericsson nodded hurriedly and said:

”We agree too! We’ll arrange the financial transfer right now!”

”We also agree; everything will be done according to President Chen’s terms!”

The CEOs of Qualcomm and Nokia also hurriedly echoed, and though their hearts ached terribly, they had no choice but to accept defeat. After all, obtaining the 5G Authorization was the most important thing at the moment.

Li Yue took out the contracts she had prepared long ago, placed them before the group, and said in a flat tone:

”Since you agree, then sign the contracts. Once you’ve signed and left your thumbprints, and the finance department confirms the receipt of funds, the authorization agreement will take effect.

Additionally, let me remind you: if you dare to violate any clause in the contract, we will terminate the cooperation immediately and hold you accountable, making you pay an even greater price.”

”Understood, understood! We wouldn’t dare violate it!”

The few of them hurriedly picked up pens, and after reviewing, they signed their names on the contracts and then stamped them with their official seals.

After signing the contracts, they immediately took out their phones and called their respective finance departments, urging them to transfer the money quickly.

Not long after, news came from Tianxing Group’s finance department that the ten-billion-dollar authorization fees from all Four Giants had arrived in full, not a cent missing.

Looking at the payment confirmation sent by the finance department on his phone, Zhang Kai smiled and reported to Chen Mo:

”President Chen, all the money has arrived.”

Chen Mo nodded slightly and said:

”Mm. You two will be responsible for the follow-up authorization matters. Don’t let any slips happen.”

”Understood, President Chen!”

Zhang Kai and Li Yue responded simultaneously.
