Rebirth: Starting with 10 Billion Us Dollars

107: Chapter 107 Teasing Old JiaEarly the next morning, Chen Mo accompanied Wu Dongju to Tianxing Live.

As soon as they entered the office area, they felt the atmosphere was a bit off.

Employees were whispering, and several department heads were huddled together, discussing in secret.

Wu Dongju frowned, grabbed an employee, and asked:

”What’s going on? Everyone is so distracted. What are you discussing?”

The employee stammered:

”President Wu, everyone heard that General Manager Jia wants to acquire our company. He’s been spreading word everywhere that as long as we’re willing to sell, he’s willing to pay any price. Many people are worried that if the company is really sold, they’ll lose their jobs.”

Chen Mo leaned against the doorframe, hands in his pockets, and said indifferently:

”What’s the panic? Let them make a fuss. Tianxing Live is mine. Without my nod, no one can sell it. What are they blindly worrying about?”

Wu Dongju added:

”But if this keeps spreading, morale will crumble. If the employees lose focus, the live streaming business will be affected. After all, live streaming companies like Chili and Inke are still eyeing our Tianxing Live.”

”Don’t worry, I’ve already made arrangements.”

Chen Mo took out his phone and called Zhang Kai:

”Zhang Kai, start the plan. Proceed as we discussed.”

Zhang Kai replied on the other end:

”Alright, President Chen. Everything is ready. Starting now!”

Hanging up, Chen Mo sat in the main seat of the office. Wu Dongju handed him a glass of water:

”What did you arrange? So mysterious again. By the way, Old Jia contacted me again, asking if our 100 billion quote is real.”

Chen Mo smiled and took the glass:

”I want him to take it seriously. Keep stalling him. Be firm—say we won’t sell for a penny less and tell him to hurry up and gather the money.”

Wu Dongju rolled her eyes:

”I get it. I’ll play along with this act and see how he ends up.”

Chen Mo laughed:

”Good. Keep him dangling. Once he’s almost ready with the money, we’ll close the net. He wants to take advantage of a crisis? We have to let him know what it means to come up empty-handed.”

For the next two days, Chen Mo stayed at Tianxing Live with Wu Dongju. He reassured the employees, explicitly stating the company wouldn’t be acquired, while having Wu Dongju deal with Old Jia’s people.

Old Jia’s appetite was indeed whetted. Believing Tianxing Live was truly for sale, he mobilized funds from everywhere in addition to his backer’s capital, even mortgaging his assets and taking out high-interest loans.

He even boastfully announced to the public that he would soon acquire Tianxing Live and seize the Dragon Country’s live streaming market.

Netizens online were also in an uproar, arguing back and forth:

”Holy crap! General Manager Jia really wants to spend 100 billion to buy Tianxing Live?”

”He must be crazy, right? Doesn’t he know Tianxing is wholly owned by President Chen? How could President Chen sell!”

”He’s definitely being played by President Chen! It’s just for fun. Once he gathers the money, President Chen will douse him with cold water in one sentence!”

”Support President Chen! Waiting for General Manager Jia to crash and burn. Let him know the consequences of taking advantage of a crisis, and let those dragon haters see just how awesome President Chen is!”

”Hehe, isn’t President Chen seeking his own death? When Old Jia gets desperate, who knows what dirty tricks he’ll pull!”

”dragon haters shut up! President Chen holds the entire Tianxing System. Why would he fear one General Manager Jia? Just wait to see Old Jia lose his entire fortune!”

Sure enough, on the morning of the third day, Old Jia’s side completely panicked.

He had used massive leverage and high-interest loans to raise money. Chen Mo had Zhang Kai quietly step in, cutting off his funding sources and short-selling his LeEco company through securities lending. LeEco’s capital chain snapped immediately, bringing it to the brink of bankruptcy, unable to even repay the high-interest loans.

Old Jia was busy trying to fill the holes everywhere, overwhelmed and with no mind left for the acquisition of Tianxing Live.

Wu Dongju looked at the message from Zhang Kai and couldn’t stop laughing:

”Chen Mo, you’re too ruthless! This time, Old Jia will probably lose everything. He’ll lose his entire fortune and never dare to oppose us again!”

”Who told him to rely on Western backers to try and snatch my things?”

Chen Mo said with a smile:

”This is just the beginning. I want him to know the consequences of opposing me so that no one dares to eye the Tianxing System again.”

Not long after, the office front desk called, saying Gan Weiwei from LeEco had arrived. She wanted to see Chen Mo and was acting very humble.

Chen Mo raised an eyebrow:

”Let her in. Dongju, you step out for a moment.”

Wu Dongju curled her lip. Though a bit reluctant, she obediently walked out, but didn’t go far.

She wanted to see what tricks this Gan Weiwei would try to pull on Chen Mo.

When Gan Weiwei entered and saw Chen Mo, she hurried forward, her voice tearful:

”President Chen, please show some mercy! Let LeEco go!”

Chen Mo leaned back in his chair and said leisurely:

”Miss Gan, you can’t say it like that. I didn’t force you to do anything. You were the ones who wanted to take advantage of the situation and acquire my company. Now that you’ve lost, you come to beg me? Where was this attitude earlier?”

”We know we were wrong, President Chen.”

Gan Weiwei said pitifully:

”It was our fault. Old Jia was too greedy. He shouldn’t have opposed you or eyed Tianxing Live. Please stop suppressing LeEco. If this continues, we’ll really go bankrupt and won’t even be able to pay our employees’ wages!”

Chen Mo said expressionlessly:

”Fine, but I have a condition.”

Gan Weiwei’s heart tightened. She knew she’d have to pay a price, so she braced herself and said:

”President Chen, please say it. As long as I can do it, I will. Even... even if it’s myself, it’s not impossible!”

After saying that, she even winked at Chen Mo.

Chen Mo almost couldn’t help laughing:

”Miss Gan, you’re overthinking. I’m not interested in you. My condition is simple: have Old Jia cut off all ties with Jason and never cooperate with him again, whether openly or secretly. If you do that, this matter will be over.”

Gan Weiwei was stunned and very surprised. She hadn’t expected Chen Mo to only set such a condition. She quickly nodded in agreement:

”I agree, I agree! I’ll call Old Jia immediately and have him break clean with Jason. They’ll never contact each other again!”

After saying that, she couldn’t help but ask:

”President Chen, how did you know Old Jia and Jason were in contact? We did that very discreetly.”

”If you don’t want others to know, don’t do it!”

Chen Mo said:

”Alright, I’ve stated my condition. You can leave. Tell Old Jia that if he dares to go back on his word, I won’t mind making LeEco disappear from the market entirely, without even a chance to recover.”

Gan Weiwei didn’t dare ask more. She thanked him repeatedly and hurried out of the office.

As she stepped out, she ran into Wu Dongju leaning against the door. The two looked at each other, and Gan Weiwei, full of embarrassment, hurried away from Tianxing Live.
